Does the expiration of 2 Apple promos hints at new releases this week?

Posted by Helper Monkey Purely conjecture, and not based in any concrete info, I happened to notice that two of Apple’s four current promos are set to expire tomorrow. Both were introduced at Macworld this year, and time has run out for both. The first (and not all that exciting) is the “Perfect Companionâ€? promo, which allowed you to save $100 when purchasing Apple systems and a printer at the same time. The second (and slightly more interesting) deal has to... Read More

Apple offers current Aperture users $200 e-coupon

Posted by Helper Monkey Apple today released an update to its professional photography tool Aperture, bringing the application to version 1.1. The most notable feature of this update is of course that it adds native support for Apple’s new Intel Macs. The second most notable feature is Aperture now costs $200 LESS than when it was released earlier this year. However, image professionals who rushed out to buy version 1.0 of the application when it was first released for... Read More

Benchmarks: Windows Viruses run faster on Boot Camp Macs than on native PCs

Posted by iGor The Mac world is abuzz with people scrambling for benchmarks on how well the recently announced “Boot Camp software runs Windows XP on the new Intel Macs. Much of the news is quite favorable. Games like Worlds of Warcraft play faster than their Mac ports, and the iMac Core Duo even runs Windows faster than a Dell XPS 200. While we think these numbers are all very exciting, we felt most people were missing the point here. People running Windows are not concerned... Read More

Apple claims this functionality will be built in to the next major release of OS X (named Leopard) but for whatever reason, they felt the need to release a beta version of te technology now. Forbes confirms new iBooks in June (via broken English)

Posted by iGor A posting over at Forbes claims Austek (a Taiwanese company) has secured a new iBook (MacBook?) contract for 1.2 million units, slated to ship this June. While the article is interesting in that it gives both a concrete timetable for the new laptops AND confirms they will have a 13.3-inch screen, what is really interesting about the article is just how poorly it is written. We here at Macenstein for the most part went to art school, so the grammatical errors on... Read More
