WTF is up with those Mac Pros?

Is it just me, or is there something odd about the way Apple’s Mac Pro 1 and 2 are showing up at the Cambridge Apple Store network? Looks like Apple accidentally leaked their new 8-core MacBook Pros!

    Well, there are simply two Mac Pro machines connected to the same network and both have the same name, so the (2) was added automatically just to allow them to co exist.

    I would bet that when the MBPs were imaged, either the image had the wrong name on it or some tech didn’t name the machines properly.

    I have the same problem (10.5.2 & 10.5.3), this happens because you changed the name of the user account of you mac

    adam is correct… it’s the imaging.. happens on all Mac when you use time machine to restore a new computer from a previous model… for instance when i upgraded from my macbook pro to my imac and transferred everything via time machine… the imac shows up as a macbook pro icon… talking with a couple of Genii at the store confirmed the quark…

    there’s a difference between apple’s hints and just plain manipulating errors in the OS…
