Beijing Mac Chick stripping for earthquake relief – makes us wish we lived on a fault line

19-year-old Xiao Yun from China’s Sichuan province has come up with a novel way to raise money for victims of the catastrophic earthquake which struck China 2 months ago – she is posting scantily clad pictures of herself on the web, with promises of more to come as more money is donated. Her site has already received over 1 million hits.

Yes, there IS a Mac in the picture, you just have to train your eyes…

“It’s encouraging to see people donating to help – I will release more photographs of myself to encourage more people to donate,” she writes. “I am still a student, so I am doing my part in my way. I just want to give something back to my hometown.”

As you can see from some of the photos, Xiao Yun seems to be a Mac Chick, a great sign that perhaps Apple’s newly opened Beijing store will be a success.

I actually considered a similar fundraiser, one where I would vow to keep my clothes ON if people donated, but the tax issues involved in international fundraising were just too complicated, so I think I’ll leave it to Xiao Yun.

Come on. Not everybody in the world speaks English as their first (or even second) language, so give them a break.

But I have to admit, it’s hilarious! :-D

  17. Hey Doc, have you tried contacting her (or her “handler”) to see if she’d give permission to post her as a MCotM? Get a little interview maybe and some hi-res desktop wallpaper if possible.

I can’t get to any of the sites mentioned in the article or the comments. They just time out on me.
