Macs don’t cause cancer… PEOPLE with Macs cause cancer!

Valleywag reports on the findings of a French publication called The Liberation of France which claims that Mac Pros emit leukemia-causing agents (such as Benzene) into the air when used. Multiple reports coming out of the Apple support forums mention strong toxic odors believed to be caused by “a protective resin coating on the RAM PCB’s and/or RAM riser card PCB’s and should diminish over time as it burns away.

So not only does Apple make you pay more for your RAM, but the RAM they DO overcharge you for causes cancer?

Great.

That’s why we recommend going 3rd party for RAM. We bought 32 GBs of RAM from EDGE and haven’t had a single case of Leukemia here yet (knock on brushed aluminum).

  1. Wiseguy says:

Last year I started my current job where my workstation is a Mac Pro shortly AFTER being diagnosed with cancer. I think I did it backwards. Mac Pros don’t cause cancer… cancer yields Mac Pros? If that were true, some cancers would almost be worth the effort. Almost.

(That’s assuming you have good health insurance, however. If you don’t have health insurance, you’re much better off spending the treatment money on several dozen Mac Pros or a full rack of Xserves.)

That wasn’t Benzene. It was the smell of burning French fries.

  6. Yeah, the non-existent PCBs found in late model Macs cause cancer.

You know what actually causes cancer? Breeding. If people didn’t breed then there would be no FUD spreaders like this outstanding nationalistic magazine.

Maybe if it was a REAL newspaper it would be interesting.

    re: French Fries
Oddly, the best fries are probably Belgian, where it’s almost the national dish. Even more odd, one of the favorite French indulgences, that they make better than anyone, is Belgian Waffles.
