I’ve got good news and bad news. The Good news is Cameron Diaz was spotted taking her MacBook Air out for a walk the other day, thus confirming she is a bonafide Mac Chick. The bad news, apparently there is going to be a fourth Shrek movie.

Click the pic to see a bunch more pics of Diaz and her MacBook Air.

Review: MiLi Power Pack Battery for iPhone out-juices the Juice Pack

MiLi iPhone battery pack

I think it is safe to say that the iTunes app store is the best thing to happen to 3rd-party battery pack makers since the mAh – particularly the addictive and battery-draining games available for the iPhone. For me, Fieldrunners was my power-sucking game of choice. I spent literally weeks of my life playing the game, many times with my iPhone tethered to my computer so I could charge and play at the same time. I never fully broke my Fieldrunners habit, but I was able to curb it slightly after a few months as the gameplay began to grow a little stale. So you’ll understand if I take it as a sign from above that I received PhoneSuit’s new MiLi iPhone battery pack just days before Subatomic Studios released their update to Fieldrunners and ensured I would not sleep for the next 2 weeks or so.

Design

The MiLi looks almost identical in basic form to Mophie’s Juice Pack, although, in my opinion, it looks much nicer. The MiLi is available with either a glossy black or white base to match the color of your iPhone, and both models offer a range of differently colored linings. The Black model comes with Read more

Bernie “made off” with a MacBook Pro

(Get it? “Made off”? NO ONE’S made that joke before, right?)

Ahh, the zoom lens. What would tabloid journalism do without it? Take a look at this shot from the February 20th episode of ABC’s 20/20.

Looks like we know where at least $2000 of Madoff’s clients’ money went…

Irrefutable proof that the Mac Pro is overdue for a makeover

The Mac Pro’s design has remained virtually unchanged since its PowerMac G5 days, and while Apple has thus far been able to successfully ignore my daily pleas for a redesign, I think even they may now have to admit the design is a bit long in the tooth. After all, once Dell copies you, it pretty much sucks the cool out of the room. Kind of like when even the nerdiest kid in school had a Swatch. (Who’s with me? The Swatch)

Check out Dell’s new Studio XPS 435 Desktop Computer. Basically they took the Mac Pro chassis, hit it with the ugly stick, and then covered it in shiny plastic. The result is as sexy as its name. They even left the Mac Pro’s grill peeking through at the bottom.

Ordinarily Dell’s “Apple copying” cycle is roughly 5 years behind Apple releases, so they’re a few months late with this, but hopefully it will be the kick in the pants that Apple needs to get a new model out the door.

Why?

Safari

I’m not a huge fan of Yahoo! over Google, but I’m also not a fan of Apple giving Windows users more options when using their software than Mac users. So why is it that Apple allows Windows users testing the Safari 4 beta to choose Yahoo! as their search agent over Google, while Mac users cannot?

Celebrity Mac Chick Sighting Revisited: Carrie Underwood

You may remember last August when we ridiculed Carrie Underwood for still sporting the “old” iPhone a full month after the latest and greatest came out. Well, obviously Miss Underwood, being an avid Macenstein reader, finally stopped crying and got herself to the Apple store for an upgrade.

Sorry for being so cruel Carrie – it’s called “tough love”, and I think you’ll admit you’re better off now. Off topic: Anyone else catching an “Emily Osment” vibe in these pics? Or am I the only one here watching Hannah Montana?

Chris Brown sends Rihanna an iPod touch to smooth things over

According to the New York Daily News (who is never wrong), Chris Brown, fresh from very publicly (allegedly) beating the hell out of Rihanna, has sent the battered singer an iPod touch for her birthday. Awww… Sounds like a keeper, ladies!

“Chris [Brown] called Rihanna to wish her a happy birthday,” an insider tells us. “He’s absolutely trying to get back into her good graces. He knows he’s very much in the doghouse right now, and is doing everything he can to show her how sorry he is.”

But Brown seems to think a few well-placed birthday gifts can salve his ex’s wounds. He has already sent the “Good Girl Gone Bad” singer a diamond bracelet and necklace, an insider tells us, as well as an iPod touch. Plus, Brown’s mom, Joyce, who is said to adore Rihanna, sent over a bouquet of flowers.

Sound creepy? Unfortunately, the attention seems to be working. RiRi may just reconcile with Brown, say sources. “

“In the doghouse”? Granted, I don’t have nearly the amount of experience beating up women as Chris (allegedly) does, but I’m thinking MacBook Pro is the MINIMUM Apple-themed gift you give for domestic battery.

Building a better iTunes – A visual iPhone interface

Given how the iPhone has become the new face of Apple, even more so than the iPod, it is frustrating that Apple has completely failed at integrating a decent iPhone management tool into iTunes. I probably have 3 times as many apps downloaded as I can fit on my iPhone at this point, and keeping track of them, let alone positioning them where I want them across my iPhone’s nine screens is way more time consuming than it needs to be.

Well, take a look at the below concept video. We here at the lab have been talking about making a similar video, but we’ve just been too lazy, so we’re glad someone else got around to it.

THANK YOU WE HAVE OUR WINNER. THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.]

We’ve teamed up with Mimoco to bring you a feature we think everyone will love - The Free MIMOBOT of the week contest! Each week we’ll be offering you a chance to win a different 2 GB MIMOBOT.

Awww yeah! Check it out! This week we have everyone’s favorite etiquette and protocol droid, C3PO, just itching to transport 2 GB of your most sensitive, Bothan-spy-obtained data. Threepio was one of the most requested MIMOBOTS in our 12 Days After Christmas Giveaway, and we’re happy to say that we’ve got a nice shiny one here ready to ship out to our lucky winner.

To Enter: Obviously the Star Wars Trilogy (and to a lesser extent, the Star Wars 6-ogy) are the most important set of films in geek history, and everyone has their favorite character. True nerds will pick out some obscure characters like that guy that hugs Malakili the Rancor Keeper when his pet dies, while posers will say something like “Luke” or “Leia” – two characters no one likes. So the question is, who’s your all-time favorite Star Wars character? Winner will be picked randomly. Contest ends six days from now and is open to all readers world-wide. Good luck!
