The first time I heard of it I wasn't that interested. Saw a one sheet for it and thought, hey, doesn't seem that bad. But when I saw the first trailer (can't remember if it was the teaser but I think not) I thought WOWBAZAMWOW!!!! I just HAD to see it! A very close second is The Matrix. When the first trailers came out and no-one knew what the heck the Matrix was or anything I just had to see it. My sensations when I left the theatre were that THIS was how all films should make me feel when they ended. That's all. :) DSC I think the one that got me most excited must be 300.
