Ummm… It’s not like they’re going to bury his albums with him guys

I have time and again admitted to not having a soul, but seriously, I don’t get this at all.

That right. How are the Black Eyed Peas on the charts?

No, seriously, why the big rush to buy Michael Jackson’s songs now that he’s dead? Are people planning to have massively depressing listening parties? Or was his death simply a reminder that he used to make music about 15-20 years ago?

    exactly Doc…
what kinda fans are these people?
when he was alive you didn’t buy him MUSIC (albums/singles) now he is dead you are buying….

    1. as Doc said the albums will stay in this world… for ever and ever
    2. the money ain’t going to MJ anymore… it’s mostly record companies and maybe his family
    3. some other artist may announce dead as they need their albums to be sold and make money instead of people downloading it! (so it’s gonna be a tradition i think)

    :P

  7. darrell says:

I’m not gonna defend the buyers sentiment or the doc’s disdain – but keep in mind that the fans that listened to his music were the ones who owned the LPs or cassettes. When CD players were big, noone replaced their collection with mj CDs when they’ve moved on.

Now that these fans want to remember mj – they have no where else to turn to then rebuying the tracks at .89-$1.29 each.

  8. Smorgasbord says:

I can see buying records or CDs because they could be collectables, but the downloads are going crazy too. The worst time to buy this stuff is right after a person’s death. The sellers are going to charge as much as they think they can get. There are only so many records and CDs, but downloads are forever. Wait until they lower the price.

  10. Bjarki says:

I agree with Smorgasboard. What the Doc obviously fails to realize is that though nobody knew Michael Jackson personally, his music played a part in a lot of people’s lives.

His passing helps people reminisce, relive memories triggered by the thought of MJ and his music, and many people using the opportunity to dust off old albums, or buy the music they only had on old tapes.

So, Doc, there are obviously a lot of things you don’t understand, so feel free to keep posting so we can keep setting you straight. :-)

  12. Or maybe he’s not really dead and this was just a plan to get a lot of money and to get rid of all media attention?

MJ LIVES! As does Elvis, King Kong and the guy who played Dumbledore in Harry Potter!

  13. Elsie Myers says:

I am guilty of purchasing some songs from iTunes this weekend. I realized that i didn’t have any MJ music on my pod so I should add some. What brought me to this action was hearing all his music from the past and I realized how much I did enjoy them when I was a teenager and wanted them added to the other 600 songs I have.

I think it’s a lot of people in their late 20s that don’t actually have any MP3s of MJ, but they remember listening to him when they were young and decided to give him another listen as a throwback to their youth.
