No need for the tinfoil shield guys, you aren’t getting laid

I never really understood the whole “destroy tech on YouTube” thing, I guess I’m sort of missing the “attention whore” gene, but if I WERE to destroy a gadget on YouTube at the tail end of 2009, I don’t think I would use a product from 2007 to prove I was cool. Yet, that’s just what Jory Caro and the folks over at “Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This?” did when they recently microwaved a 1st generation iPhone. Wow.

There’s so much Apple bashing here that you have to wonder if they even sincerely feel that way or are simply trolling for flame hits. I mean, I’m an Apple fanboy and all, but I have an xBox and a Microsoft mouse I don’t hate. (Hmm… I sort of sound like someone accused of being racist that says they have a black friend.*) What’s next for the “Is It A Good Idea To Microwave This?” gang? They’re going to nuke a 1997 issue of Macworld Magazine.

Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Doug for the tip!

  4. This is weak humour. Blendtec can be funny. This isn’t.

  6. A few points for you:

Forget getting laid, I actually just got engaged a couple weeks ago. The tinfoil shield, like most aspects of our show is a prop for the comedy. The reason you “never understood” these types of shows is because until now, you never realized that we’re all making our living from this show, and doing so quite comfortably. As for the iPhone being nuked in 2009, we merely destroy stuff when it gets donated to us - no one had sent one in until earlier this summer. As for the Mac-bashing… well… the three of us are pretty big supporters of self-building our own PCs… so I’m not a big fan of any computer company, Dell, Gateway, or Apple - especially the latter, given it’s ridiculous over-pricing. I mean, $300 for an extra 1 TB hard drive? Even you can see Mac price-gouges their products.

Thanks for the post / mention … but try doing some research next time.

  8. @Jonathan for a “comedian” you don’t have much of a sense of humor, the title was obviously a joke on Doc’s part.

    Video wasn’t very funny either.

    Love the site Doc!

  12. Jonathan,
Yes, you CAN forget getting laid as you ARE getting engaged and will be married soon. ;)

Also, as for the “Mac price-gouges their products”, you really need to do some research before posting. Mac is NOT Apple. Mac is the machine, Apple is the company. Apple does the gouging, not the machine. ;)

  14. This is a YouTube Channel?
    Why?
It’s not even funny. Dose this remind anyone of the movie “Idiocracy?”

  16. Another idiot gets the whole “666″ thing wrong.

Just so you know 666 is NOT the number of the devil. Revelation 13:18 says:

“Here is where wisdom comes in: Let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a man’s number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six.”

Because it’s a man’s number it refers to an earthly entity in fact it refers to the world powers ruling over mankind (the seven headed wild beast in Revelation represents the seven world powers Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, and the current ruling Anglo-American world power).

Last I checked, as much as we want Apple to rule the world, Apple is not a world power therefore 666 is not apt.

Sorry guys but you fail all over… wrong with 666 and so not funny.

As for building your own machines that’s incredibly boring. I do it every day for a job and it gets real old real fast. We Mac users tend to like to actually use our machines to do stuff not build it up then spend the rest of the time getting Windows or Linux up and running. Still horses for courses I guess.

  18. @Daniel, no it does not because Idiocracy was a brilliant movie… it’s always nice to see my thoughts put up on the big screen.
