“The 12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaway: Day 11 – iLuv iMM173 Dual Dock Alarm Clock for iPod/iPhone

January 5, 2010 by Dr. Macenstein
Filed under: Awesomeness, Free Stuff, contests, iPhone, iPod

This contest is closed. Congrats to faithful Macenstein reader Matthew.

On the Eleventh Day After Christmas, Macenstein gave to you (or, more accurately, gave you a chance to win…) a iLuv iMM173 Dual Dock Alarm Clock for iPod/iPhone!

iLuv imm173

If you’re anything like us, odds are you buy a new iPod or iPhone every 3 months, as well as a new iPod speaker system and alarm clock. And like us, your counter tops are now probably pretty much overrun with those speakers, clocks, and charging cables. Well, iLuv aims to at least cut that techno clutter in half with their kick-ass iLuv iMM173 Dual Dock Alarm Clock for iPod/iPhone . Boasting not one, but TWO iPod/iPhone charging stations, the iMM173 is pretty much the bee’s knees of iPod alarm clocks for any dual iPhone/iPod household. Check out the features:

· Powerful built-in speakers allow you to hear your music with depth and clarity
· Treble / Bass control
· Convenient remote control storage
· Large display; easy to read
· Auxiliary line input for any audio devices with 3.5mm jack
· LCD dimmer level control (11 steps)
iPhone / iPod
· Two iPod docks let you charge up to two iPod and/or iPhone at once
· Enjoy rich sound from your iPod / iPhone with jAura acoustic speaker technology
· Choose and play any one of two docked iPod / iPhone*
· Plays and charges your iPod / iPhone
· Integrated universal dock for your iPod / iPhone
Digital Dual Alarm Clock
· Digital clock display with dual alarm clock
· Easy to adjust DST (Daylight Saving Time) with a simple switch
· Time Sync function synchronizes time from your iPhone or iPod
· Wake to iPod / iPhone, FM radio, or buzzer
· Sleep to iPod / iPhone, FM radio
Radio
· FM stereo
· PLL tuning digital tuning technology
· Programmable presets for 8 radio stations

To enter: We’re pretty sure you’ll LOVE the iLuv almost as much as you love your Apple gear, after all, it lets you charge more than one Apple product at once. But we’ve got a “tough love” question for you. Leave us a comment telling us, if you could only own ONE Apple product, and have to use competing companies’ offerings for the others in your life, what Apple product would you choose to own? Could you live using a Windows PC if it meant you could have your iPhone? Could you get by with just your Mac if you had to use a Sansa MP3 player?

Winners will be picked randomly 7 days later and notified (kind of like in The Ring, only with less killing… we hope). Open to all readers world wide. Good luck, and thanks for reading Macenstein! (Oh, and be sure to enter ALL our “12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaways!)
Please note: Comments may take a while to show up, please do not double-post. Thanks!

  2. As much as I’d hate to give up my iPhone, I’d choose my MacbookPro for sure. Android seems a decent enough alternative but I never want to go back to windows.

  4. My MacBook.

I could “live” with other media players, phones, etc. But, having to rely on Windows or Linux would just leave me feeling empty and lost.

  14. It’s like choosing your favorite child. I love them all in different ways. I’d still have to say my MacBook Pro. Couldn’t live without it.

  16. Mac desktop, i could deal with a PC laptop and i know of a really cool japanese MP3 player i don’t really se apps so no real loss there

  20. It was really hard to choose between the MacBook and the iPod Touch, but ultimately the Mac wins.

  22. iMac.

Even though there’s not really anything that would replace my iPhone :(

  24. Talk about Sophie’s Choice. :-(

I guess if it came down to it, I’d have to choose my iMac over my iPhone. While I do boot into 7 for my Steam associated gaming pleasures, I think a large part of me would die if I had to give up OS X.

  34. if you could only own ONE Apple product, and have to use competing companies’ offerings for the others in your life, what Apple product would you choose to own?

My MacBook Pro, but it’s so hard to leave my iPhone or my iPods away…

Could you live using a Windows PC if it meant you could have your iPhone?

I will, even if the Win is Vista… the problem would be syncing my Phone with it the way I do it with the Mac.

Could you get by with just your Mac if you had to use a Sansa MP3 player?

I could, but I would use the Mac as mp3 player and leave Sansa at home making friends with my Windows computer.

  50. I live on my iPhone, barely using the BlackBook or Mac Mini anymore. A Dell Mini 10 with HDMI out would do for a laptop/media server… I guess.

  56. Man…if it weren’t for the hundreds of games/apps on my iPhone, it’d be a no-brainer to give it up to keep my MacBook Pro. I still give the edge to my MacBook Pro, as I remember how hellish it was when my computer was getting repaired and my company gave me a loaner ThinkPad. For an entire week. (shutters)

  62. iPhone. I use a PC at work and it’s a pathetic excuse for a machine. But outide of work, my iPhone, Linux, and web services should be sufficient without all the Microsoft taint.

  63. Grant Wall on Tue, 5th Jan 2010 3:43 am
  64. I’d have to keep my MacBook Pro. As I work in media, I really can’t touch Windows. I suppose I could if I wanted to, but I detest Windows with such a passion due to it’s media handling. I could possibly replace my iPhone with the Nexus One when it’s available in Canada even though the iPhone is awesome and is literally in my hands about 25% of the day.

  65. Donn on Tue, 5th Jan 2010 3:49 am
  66. No! Don’t take away my Apples.
But I lived with SE phones and Sony Walkmen, so that leaves my iMac. I couldn’t exist without it. It’s what gets me paid.

  74. My MacBook Pro – i’m sure there would be some discomfort syncing music or movies from an Android Phone through USB/Disk storage mode, but it’s better than clumsily trying to make linux or windows ‘work’ like os x.

  237. John Hefner on Tue, 5th Jan 2010 10:36 am
  238. This hurts, but I think I’d actually give up my iPhone and iPod. Giving up my Macbook Pro and having to use Windows would irritate the mess out of me (and this is with the understanding Leopard OS is considered a product and I couldn’t build a hackintosh). Having to give up my iPhone I’d probably check out the google phone.

  240. Definitely my MacBook. I love my iPhone, all the peripherals for the computer, even my classic iPod, but… when it all comes down to it, it’s all about OS X. No way am I going back to windows, even if it means giving up all the conveniences of my iPhone.

I’d rather go back to CDs if that’s what it takes to keep my Mac!

  246. That’s a really really really really tough one, because I like my Apple products for the way they integrate with each other… I think although it’s the youngest addition to the family, I wouldn’t want to give up my iPhone, because although it would take a lot of time and patience, I could probably live with a well (as well as can be anyway) configured windows than with a crappy not-so-nicely-thought-through smartphone.

  247. Phil on Tue, 5th Jan 2010 10:41 am

Even though I’ve used my iPhone to handle a lot of the things that I used to do on my laptop (a ready-to-trade-up PBG4), I’d have to say, if I could only have one Apple device, it would have to be the … um … iTablet, at least the the one that I have designed for Apple in my fantasies, which would hit the sweet spot between the iPhone and the PB (or MBP). Short of that, I’d have to say that I’d reluctantly ditch the iPhone and then upgrade to a MBP. Oh what a cruel world it would be that you have us imagine to please your twisted minds!

What? You didn’t say we have to already own it. I’m dying here gimping along with a 5-year old machine running top end apps like Aperture, Logic Pro, Guitar Rig, Photoshop, Modo, emulating windows to have access to a very stuttery AutoCAD… the list goes on.

Anyway, I figure I can get along with a third party player, my Alpine iDXA-100 will play anything with a file system, there are other viable streaming video content boxes out there, definitely other WiFi routers, other mice and keyboards, all of which are secondary to a FAST mac working environment, not to mention the ability to emulate windows with something like VMWare.

    Someday I’ll have saved enough.

Now–this iMac has a massive screen, an astonishing amount of power and a huge hard drive. I love my new iTouch and I’m sure I’d love the iPhone, but I still find the portable devices’ interface limiting, and the battery life is too brief. I could probably live with a top-of-the-line Android phone in place of the iTouch.

The main reason is that I am working in VFX/Video and going back to Windows would be a nightmare. For my phone, I’d get an Android for sure. It is the only platform that can hope to compete with the iPhone. If I wanted an extra MP3 players (because I have dozens of iPods!), I’d probably get a Zune HD and sync it with Parallels.
