  2. It could have been better…..but it’s still awesome. If i have the money in May, I’ll get one. No doubt.

  3. Brian on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:07 am
  4. I think it would be cool to have one but can’t justify $500 to get the same functionality as my ipod touch

  5. Sean on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:09 am
  6. I might buy one, but most likely will configure and set a lot of them up for a Hospital. Replacing their infected Windows netbooks.

  7. SB on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:09 am
  8. Well, it’s seemingly just a giant version of my ipod touch, so I don’t really see the point yet. I’m gonna hold out to see how this thing develops before I plunk down any cash.

  9. n3wf0ld3r on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:16 am
  10. I like it, but i wont buy this generation one.

  11. Lapin on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:16 am
  12. Can’t really find what I could use it for…
    I won’t buy one

  13. Scott Rodgers on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:17 am
  14. i’m intrigued… think it has a place in the market… though not necessarily in my living room

  15. Chris on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:19 am
  16. I like it. I am waiting for more access to information. Like actually seeing the iBooks book store. I am considering getting one.

  17. Gabe on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:20 am
  18. I sure will… it’s like having a giant iPod touch. Can it get more fun than that?

  19. Min on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:20 am
  20. awesome device. I will get one. But not the first gen.

  21. Dave on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:20 am
  22. it isnt profitable enough, could do much more things as it does.

  23. matt on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:21 am
  24. The iPad is nice, but lacking many features I was looking forward to. I’m not going to buy the 1st gen, but maybe the 2nd will become more than an oversized iPod Touch.

  25. stephan on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:21 am
  26. I will buy an iPad the second it is running a full OS X.

  27. Brett on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:22 am
  28. I’ll be waiting for the second or third rev of the iPad. As it is, I think it is a bit overpriced for what it is capable of…a netbook that costs $200 (or more) less can do so much more! I’ll be finally getting my first iPhone this summer (to replace my current crap Nokia/ 2nd gen iPod Touch combo).

  29. Mike on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:22 am
  30. Certainly

  31. eliterrell on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:23 am
  32. I think it has a lot of potential. Hopefully the next OS for it will be redesigned to take advantage of the screen size. It seems like there should be a lot of features you can implement there that wouldn’t work on the iPhone- Apple’s own apps like mail may be the best argument for that.

  33. Mike on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:23 am
  34. I love Apple’s new creation! And I want one!! But I’m not sure if I’ll actually buy one…

  35. David on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:23 am
  36. I don’t think i will buy it…not right now, i wanna watch how it works and iPad evolution in a couple years…

  37. Adrian din Arad on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:23 am
  38. hell yeah …. I wold buy an iPad … it’s so much fun … yey !!!

  39. Dan on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:24 am
  40. I’ll buy an iPad if and when my iPod classic dies. By then I figure the price will come down and the storage will be big enough for my uses. Bazinga!

  41. Noah on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:26 am
  42. I’ll more than likely buy one. Let’s wait and see what it’s actually like when it becomes available.

  43. Alan on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:27 am
  44. Woohoo! Finally I can win something from a Site from the US (I’m from Switzerland)! W00T…

Well, I was expecting a bit more to be honest (multitasking, camera (!!!) and another lockscreen)…
But I’m getting one anyway! Probably the wifi only 64 Gb version. I’m sure there’ll be a way to use the iPhone as a modem for the iPad.
Really hope this type of device will take off….

    cheers

  45. Gary on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:31 am
  46. The ipad would be a good replacement for my iPod touch. But I’ll wait since my touch is still less than a year old.

  47. Phillip on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:32 am
  48. I will buy one, but not till gen 2 come out.

  49. Scottij on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:33 am
  50. I’m kind of on the fence, but who am I kidding, I’ll probably buy one.

  51. YSR50 on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:35 am
  52. Was hoping for something based off of OSX and not the iPhone OS, more of a computer than a “device”. Will probably get one for the old people in my life ;-)

  53. Brian Beam on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:39 am
  54. Thinking about version 2 right now.

  55. Casper D Schrankenmüller on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:40 am
  56. hmm as the 1st version look to be like I don’t want 1… bur if it get a cam, multitasking and I can get my book for study on it. it will end up being the best tool for school, with all in 1… no more books to carry no need for paper and with the keyboard thing it will be able to easy take notes… ofc will be nice with flash.
So when that day come where I get what I want I will buy one

  57. M. Sean McManus on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:41 am
  58. Did I win?

  59. Bitmatt on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:43 am
  60. It is intriguing. Most of the issues I have are software related, and I imagine the next gen of OS will address much of that (like how iPhone OS3 finally made the iPhone awesome instead of just good). I imagine I will buy one someday. I imagine most everyone will have something like it at some point in the future.

  61. Gregg on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:45 am
  62. I’ll probably buy one, but will wait for a camera to be included.

  63. Ste7en on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:47 am
  64. If they release a normal OS X version, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat. I’ve always felt the same way as a lot of people: it’s too big to fit in your pocket and too small to get any work done on it. Plus it’s the iPhone OS. Yuck.

  65. DJ on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:47 am
  66. I like it. Like the original iPod, it’s simple, but is kind of a blank slate so to speak. It will be interesting to see how it evolves. I want one, but don’t need it, so I’ll probably wait.

  67. Alexis on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:48 am
  68. Some features need to be clarified, but so far I think I’ll buy one. It’s a convergence of media and I like to travel light. What I really do hope for is being able to read .pdf files (via iBooks maybe). And if I can use it for presentations at work, it’ll worth the money. With 3G, I’m probably among the internet junkie that the news paper were talking about.

  69. Manu on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:48 am
  70. I’m not buying it. For me, it’s useless

  71. Brian on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:49 am
  72. It’s very nice but I will wait for the second version.

  73. R Hart on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:49 am
  74. I’m still not sure if I’ll buy one. If it only had a front facing camera it’d be such an easy decision.

  75. Grant on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:49 am
  76. I’ll have to see it and its apps before making a decision on buying one.

  77. Luke on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:50 am
  78. It’s a disappointment. No I won’t buy one.

  79. toblo on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:51 am
  80. well, i will buy it after i bought an imac first.

  81. James on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:54 am
  82. I’m intrigued, but I’ll let them work the kinks out a bit before taking the plunge.

  83. Mark on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:54 am
  84. Yes I think I will, only because I don’t think I can help myself! My parents are headed to the US in August so I’m gonna get them to pick me up either the 16GB or 32GB Wi-Fi + 3G model, depending on my financial situation at the time.

  85. Jennifer on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:54 am
  86. It’s shiny and wonderful, and I think I want one. But, like the iPhone, I’ll probably wait until the second or third models before I make the leap and buy one.

  87. Sérgio Castro on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:58 am
  88. Not really interested, doesn’t add enough of OSX to be as useful as a notebook nor it adds enough to replace my iPhone. :(

  89. Richard on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:00 am
  90. Oh yes. The iPad is actually something I’ve been trying to get for a while. If it works as well as is hinted not only will it be handy for multi-media fun, but for wandering my store and doing various inventory management tasks it will be nice.

  91. MacMarine on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:02 am
  92. I am holding off because rumor has it the iPad will be the giveaway for the 12 days AFTER Christmas day 99.

  93. Paul on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:02 am
  94. If I don’t win one on the 137th Day Of Christmas, sure I’ll buy one. I develop apps for Mac and iPhone, and I believe the iPad is the next big thing.

  95. Joe Mamma on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:04 am
  96. Yup, the 32gig hits the sweet spot in the budget. My wife says that it’s perfect for her. It takes care of all of her computing needs, and she’s next in line for a new computer. I’m addicted to Need for Speed on my iPhone, so she may have to pry that iPad out of my hands once I get that app.

  97. hamsammich on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:07 am
  98. At first, the iPad announcement was a bit underwhelming to me. But, after really thinking about what I do every day, it kind of began to seem somewhat “essential” to me. With what I do most of the time, it’s going to more-than-cover my work.

I will definitely be getting one…just not sure what flavor yet. ;)

  99. antonis on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:11 am
  100. Waiting for the price in Europe..

  101. Colin on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:11 am
  102. I think it’s perfect for so many people…like my wife. So yeah, we’ll grab one eventually.

  103. Jon on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:12 am
  104. I think it’s great, and will likely be getting my hands on one. At first blush it looks like something that will really encourage things like comics and event graphic-heavy technical books to move to a more ‘e’ friendly model.

  105. Benjamin on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:12 am
  106. I would take one, if they build in a USB-Port or Card-Reader. That would be awesome to watch fresh taken pics.

  107. Matt on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:12 am
  108. Forget e-books. I want mine with (hopfully an iPad vesion of) Reeder app for my RSS feeds. Now that’s my version of a newspaper!

  109. JEK on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:13 am
  110. It’s greater than we can imagine – I will buy 2 of them.
One for my parent who reallly don’t understand anything about computers and so desperately want to be a part of their grandchildren´s lives, and one for my family to enjoy in the tv room (tv remote, dictionary, game device, e-mail centre etc…).

It’s going to be great to get rid of the macbook pro in the tv sofa…

  111. saud on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:13 am
  112. hope to get one by the end of the year.

  113. Nomis on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:14 am
  114. It’s a good product, i thinks but don’t know if i will buy one …

  115. Paul on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:17 am
  116. No. I might consider it, if my area had 3G, but living in bumfukt egypt, we’ll never see that shit. So, my iphonizzle is all I need. At home, I have no problem firing up my 17# MBP. Maybe, just maybe, after 2 or 3 iterations of the iPad, then, maybe. I’d rather get a netbook and Hackintosh it.

  117. fractured on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:18 am
  118. I won’t buy one until iPad is a Tablet MacBook Pro, with all the connectivity and power I need. I cannot do without Firewire and an Expresscard slot. I may get my work to buy a couple as we currently use iPod Touches for communication and meeting planning.

  119. Steve Bernier on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:19 am
  120. The iPad will revolutionnise the publishing industry at the equivalent of the revolution the iPod created for music.

I’m waiting for Apple to send me THE e-mail telling me they can get pre-orders !

  121. Robert on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:20 am
  122. The iPad is cool, but I do agree with others that Apple could have made it better. I may get one with my tax return.

  123. Wiseguy on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:20 am
  124. I think it would be cool to have one, but I don’t have a particular need or use for one at this time. If I buy one, it might be for development.

  125. Carrie on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:22 am
  126. I like it, but I think I’m going to save my pennies for a MacBook Pro instead.

  127. Andrew Madson on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:24 am
  128. I go back and fourth on buying one. As of right now I am planning on waiting for the 2nd or 3rd generation.

  129. Chris H on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:29 am
  130. It looks like it will be useful and will be able to fill a small niche. I’ll probably get one, though I would like to play around with one before, just so I know what I’m getting.

  131. Matthew on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:34 am
  132. Maybe after the 2nd hardware update…

  133. Tobias on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:37 am
  134. Having a MBP and a iPhone, I don’t see the point in buying an iPad.

  135. Bill on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:38 am
  136. This is going to be the next big thing. The iPad has the potential, and it will be the product that starts the next computer era. In a year from now people will be saying a netbook, what’s a netbook. Apple and the Developers can make the iPad into anything they want it to be.

  137. Nicholas on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:38 am
  138. It’s not too great. I’d get a Modbook before I got an iPad.

  139. Jon on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:39 am
  140. My initial reaction was a little disappointed, however that has evolved into a very impressed and optimistic view of what is surely to become a new icon and revolution in devices. Yes, I’ll be getting one for sure, probably more for my wife right now. Just not sure on which model I want. Of course, I NEED the top model with 3G, but not sure what I want . . . . wait, reverse that . . . . maybe :)

  141. theo on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:39 am
  142. i’ll wait for the 2nd generation before deciding, i really think they missed the sweet spot on this one. If I wanted an ipod touch, i’d buy a normal sized one. They really needed to have that thing running OSX … it should have been a screen-only Macbook with a couple of REAL ports on it like USB, not just that dock port.

It shows promise, but too limited IMO.

  143. Paulius on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:46 am
  144. Nice. But I don’t need it :)

  145. mestre on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:46 am
  146. I’m still waiting for the camera-equipped iPod Touch before I buy, and then I need to get a new laptop – by which point my main work machine will need upgrading. As the iPad can’t replace any of these it will have to live at the bottom of my list – probably forever.

  147. Greg on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:46 am
  148. I have an iphone and ipod touch, so no, I won’t be buying an iPad.

  149. Matt on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:48 am
  150. Ipad is ok. Still on the fence as to if I’m getting one. Want to play with one first.

  151. Patrick on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:49 am
  152. Not the revolution I was waiting for, iChat? USB in? I would love to be able to use this for events in the AV industry, but without the ability to get anyone’s content on it on site and quickly edit it to put it up on a projector it falls short of what I was hoping.
What will save it is iWork, (and any other cool apps that will crop up.

Maybe next time, new MBP first I think

  153. Annie on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:50 am
  154. Loves it! Iphone is my way of life, and the touch screen might save me from carpal tunnel. Can’t wait to ditch the mouse and wires. Absolute winner.

  155. GlowingApple on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:54 am
  156. I’d get one only if it were running a full version of OS X … or maybe once it’s been jailbroken.

  157. Chuck on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:56 am
  158. Yes. I will get one.

  159. Jonro on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:58 am
  160. I’ll probably buy an iPad when it has a built-in camera that I can use for videoconferencing and when I can use it to stream movies from Netflix.

  161. Donn on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:58 am
  162. Want one. The potential within education is very exciting.

  163. Albert on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:58 am
  164. hell yes – it’s going to be fun to use, and probably quite useful, but I’m intrigued with what new apps are going to be developed to make use of all the additional screen space.

  165. James Massey on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:01 am
  166. I will. But it ill be for my wife. Honest!

  167. Jacob C on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:01 am
  168. I think that the iPad is awesome, what it does is not revolutionary, how it does it is.

  169. joey on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:05 am
  170. i like the design of everything except for the os, get me osX on there and im down for one

  171. JorgeLuisBorges on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:05 am
  172. The price is right; iPad is definitely on my list of want-to-haves.

  173. Steven Thompson on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:07 am

  195. Joe on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:24 am
  196. I will buy one on day one, just like the iphone. It will do wonders when I am at a clients showing them photos.

  197. Ben Tattersley on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:26 am
  198. The lack of flash is the selling point for me. im definitely going to get one

  199. Eric M. on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:27 am

  207. Jon on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:32 am
  208. I hated it…then read some intelligent thoughts on the possibilities. I’m a changed man, but will still wait ’til v3 when it’s hitting its stride.

  209. Caleb on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:34 am
  210. I like the idea of it, but the way they made it as is now, like the very first iPhone if not worse it seems shallow since they will give it numerous upgrades which can already be done to siphon out more money.

  211. Robert on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:36 am
  212. I think the iPad is great and will be awesome a generation or two from now. I am planning on getting one as soon as I can test one out in the store.

  213. Tim on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:43 am

  215. Ryan H on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:45 am
  216. I want to actually hold one before i decide. It definitely wasn’t what I was hoping for; what I really want is a MacBook Air cut in half that is touch screen. In my dreams, I know…

  222. I totally had no interest in it, then slowly managed to convince myself of how useful it’d be after discussing why it wasn’t so great with friends.

I just went “oh wait, that is actually pretty cool”. Plus I hate Flash more than the Grinch hates Christmas, so I’m happy about that. If it’s as fast as the reports say I’m alright without multi-tasking

  223. Adam on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:51 am
  224. the iPad will bring a new wave of applications and a new “gold rush” (as many reviewers have stated). That said, I will likely wait a hardware generation before taking the plunge, but “might” get the $499 wifi only one to play with… Its missing some key features for me though: camera (for video conferencing), multi-tasking.

  225. Dennis on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:53 am
  226. iPad? iPad!?! I don’t need no stinkin’ iPad!!!

  227. Ted on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:04 pm
  228. I think the iPad looks really cool. I’d buy one if I had the $$$…

  230. I think a lot of people in the mainstream media are over looking what it will be able to do and just making guesses at this point. I think it will be the start of something awesome in every sector.
Also Apple shocked everyone with it’s starting price point.
    I’m looking forward to iBooks!

  231. JG on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:06 pm

  238. I love it. AND, the more I think about it, the more I love it. Each day closer to launch gets more and more exciting for me. I will definitely be buying one. As far as I am concerned, Apple has done it again!

  239. Adam W on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:10 pm
  240. iPad….no go for me. Now give me a “MacBook Touch” and I’m all over that like white on rice!

  241. Balint on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:10 pm

    No.

  245. autoy on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:14 pm
  246. I’d probably get one when the days of my MBP are over. I can see an iMac + ipad replacing my current setup, as the ipad is perfectly capable of the tasks I need on the go. For things like music and photography I’d rather use a poweful desktop system.

  247. Rob on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:19 pm
  248. nope…waiting for version 2.x

  249. mrzo on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:21 pm
  250. Not exactly what I expected from Apple’s tables but after few days after Apple event it is not so bad either. Buy? Maybe later, when the price little fall as a ebook reader, or when it will have more functionality.

  251. Jason on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:21 pm
  252. ipad… under construction. maybe the next version will work out some of the kinks…

  258. it lacks functionality and occupies a lot of space, so i doubt it.

  259. tcboutte on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:23 pm
  260. I doubt I will buy one, but I can really see how it would be nice to leave around the living room for quick access to apps and media (i do not own an iPhone or iPod Touch).

  261. Andy on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:24 pm
  262. I want my iPad so I can sell apps and make at least as much as I paid for it.

  263. Patrick on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:25 pm
  264. If I do buy one it’ll be the second or third generation. There’s some promising stuff in the patents Apple’s filed for and I’m curious to see if they’ll be included in future releases.

  265. munkle on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:28 pm
  266. I am pretty sure I will grab one – not necessarily for me alone but to share with my fiance. I think that for the type of web browsing and music playing we do it will be great around the house.

  267. Tim on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:29 pm
  268. It’s an interesting product, probably very useful for some people, but I have a Mac Pro, a MacBook, and an iPhone I just don’t see the hole it needs to fill for me.

  269. Will on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:33 pm
  270. Well If I have the money lying around, I’ll most likely get one. I like the 3G plan prices, and iWork looks fantastic!

  271. João Batista on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:37 pm
  272. iPad is an interesting concept, but I don’t think I will buy one. This first generation is still too crude.

  273. Killer's Dad on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:45 pm
  274. Absolutely THE PRODUCT to further untether me from my laptop. With my iPhone, I find myself walking away from my computer at 5 PM and not going back to it until the next Morning. But I still have the need to read news and make queries when I’m away from my desk and the iPad will fill that niche quite easily. It also will get rid of all my bookcases over time, too.

My father who is 86 already wants one instead of my hand-me down laptops!

  275. Darrin D on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:48 pm
  276. Needs camera. Was hoping it was a little more MacBook. Probably not buying one.

  277. Isaac on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:49 pm
  278. Currently, i own an iPhone and a first gen MacBook. since it is four years old, I wanted to buy a new one.
as my usual use of the computer is surfing, reading lecture notes and maybe writing (but not as much), I think I’ll buy an iPad instead.
It’s cheaper as every other NetBook, but offers much more comfort.

  279. Noc Josifovski on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:50 pm
  280. It’s nice, but everyone expected a lot lot more. So therefore I shall not buy one. Though I said this when iPhone Gen1 came out and then 3 days later wham I was at the Apple store giving my credit card to a seller :D

  281. dave on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 12:54 pm
  282. Yeah, I probably will.

  284. Not yet…Maybe the next iPad..!

  285. Haris on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:02 pm
  286. It would be nice if it would work more like Wacom tablet and I could use Photoshop on it. But now, it’s fun, but I don’t need it so much to buy it.

  287. Mike on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:07 pm
  288. I’m thinking I might.

  289. xero on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:16 pm
  290. while the iPad is impressive and opens up new possibles my main problem with them is the small memory size lack of camera and in ability to dock it in landscape

all in all I’ll get one BUT not this generation of it

  291. Dan on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:17 pm
  292. I will buy an iPad. It’s the next step on getting my wife off of Windows. She already loves the iPod touch.

  293. Nathaniel on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:17 pm
  294. At first glance the iPad just looks like a bit iPod Touch to me, but I do feel it has potential to evolve into something more.

I was very impressed with Brushes on the iPad, it happens to be my favorite app on my iPhone. (My website has some of my iPhone paintings.) If I end-up buying one it will likely primarily be for use with art apps. I’m going to wait and see what iPad exclusive apps come-out for it before I buy.

  295. Tim on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:18 pm
  296. I think it’s pretty awesome and I am definitely going to buy one.

  297. Matthew Smith on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:18 pm
  298. I recently got a Macbook Pro, so I won’t be buying any computer stuff for quite a while. However, perhaps in a few years, the next laptop would be an iPad instead. They need to bring the iLife suite to it as well IMO.

  299. mangochutney on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:21 pm
  300. Since it’s not on the market yet, and almost no software that takes advantage of the form factor, it’s going to be hard to tell, if an iPad would be a better addition to my computing environment, or a MacBook Air (of which I hope it will not be given up upon).

  301. Christopher Engesser on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:22 pm
  302. If they put OS X on it, I’d buy it. But as it is it’s just a giant ipod touch.

  303. jeff on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:37 pm
  304. Looks good, but I don’t really have a use for one, nor the money, so no.

  313. Danny Tang on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 1:48 pm
  314. If in the future they come out with an iPad with OS X on it, and there’s a mac equivalent to MS OneNote, I would totally get one! Until then, I’ll stick with my MacBook.

  333. J McLain on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 2:34 pm
  334. I love it and plan to get it. But maybe not the first version. Just like the iPhone, it will keep getting better and better.

  342. Sweet. I’ll get one.

  343. seearees on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:01 pm
  344. I like it but it is missing a few essential features. I will likely hold out til the 2nd generation

  345. LlamaFragments on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:03 pm
  346. I’d say that it’s a form factor where it is like a Kindle where you can actually do things with it, but people won’t recognize it as an eBook reader and therefore it can’t compete with it. I also like it how companies like Sony first bash the iPad for having a useless form factor, but then they decide to make a tablet themselves.

  347. Alex on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:07 pm
  348. I have no plans to get an iPad, but I’ll consider it if tethering is made possible (hacks or not).

I see it like everyone else: a giant iPod touch with a 3G antenna, and lots of wasted screen estate.

  349. Uwe Kleinmann on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:09 pm
  350. I don’t know what to think of it yet. The concept is really amazing, but again a closed OS with no easy way to use your “own” apps? However, the awesome way to get web-access with it is kinda cool. I might get one, but not at launch and not anytime soon after the launch.

  351. Steve519 on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:11 pm
  352. It’s missing several features, most importantly, a webcam. No I will not be buying one

  353. Georg on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:12 pm
  354. The first thing I thought while watching the Stevenote was “where’s my credit card”. The second thought was “no, you don’t need it, you have enough apple gear already”. But then I kicked myself and tried to order one. Well… somehow I didn’t succeed…

  355. Billy on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:14 pm
  356. It’s is nice, but not very portable, so for portability, I’ll keep iphone. And around the house, my macbook pro is all I need, much more versatile.

  357. mpeterke on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:15 pm
  358. I know that it doesn’t change the world, and not an “instant get” for most people, but I most definitaly will buy a 3G one as soon as it is available here in Hungary…

  360. I like the iPad and could use one (on the road a lot) but I will wait for the next generation or price drop. Right now I want to get a MacBook Pro for my wife. :D

  361. CJS on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:20 pm
  362. I wish it had come out about a year ago when I bought a MacBook for my wife. The iPad would have fit her needs quite nicely, and also fit my need to buy new and cool gadgets!

  380. On one hand, it is perfect for people that work with written word: journalists, bloggers, writers, translators, editors, etc. The combo of iWork, iBooks and book-format Safari is incredible.

On the other hand, I still think e-ink is better for ebooks.

I may buy one, if it is fiscally convenient at the end of the year.

  381. iMaddin on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:42 pm
  382. I think its awesome! I will definitely buy one. I read so much, it will be worth buying one.

  383. Brian Wilcox on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:52 pm
  384. The iPad isn’t quite compelling enough for me. Maybe 2ndGen will offer more that will put me over the edge but have to say no for now.

Also, too many questions remain about what it can do exactly. Is that stupid iPod cable the only way it can talk to my mac? What if I want to grab a movie from my iMac over wifi or BT, do I really have to sync it?

Perhaps if I were into eBooks more, but I’m not. I read my news on my desktop at the office and I have an iPod touch for everything else.

  385. Justin on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 3:52 pm

  399. James on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 4:35 pm
  400. I think it will be very interesting to see how sales go once released. I think that the negative hype and publicity is overkill and that once people can touch and hold the device they will understand its value, a simple secondary computer for email and browsing the internet. It does about as much as most people can get done on a netbook but looks fun to use. I will probably wait for the 2nd generation device before buying…

  418. I am going to buy one for my Dad and take his PC laptop away from him. It’s an experiment to see if I can get him to switch, because all he does is play games and check email on the thing anyway. He got a virus about a month ago that he had someone get rid of but it cost him some dough to do it, plus all that time without it must’ve been annoying. The only thing I think will make this fail is the lack of flash; I swear every 3 out of 4 emails he sends (forwards) me is some animation or video. Or, it’ll be all those Powerpoint attachments.

Also, it’ll give me an excuse to play with one or, I may inherit after the experiment fails.

  441. Craig on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 6:10 pm
  442. It looks like it has a lot of potential, and should be capable of filling many peoples media consumption habits, even more so once there is some useful software available for it, which you would pretty much expect to happen at some point.

I’m not planning to get one right away, as my mobile needs are covered between my iPhone and my MBP, but I can see myself getting one eventually. Probably at least a v2 device though.

  456. If the ipad would have a front Camera(compare recent rumors) and Running the New iPhone OS with multi-tasking, i would buy One. But nevertheless i am not that big fan of early adopts! So i wait for the 2nd gen.

  457. felix on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 7:04 pm
  458. its a cool product, but frankly, it doesnt provide any new features that you dont have on a laptop or other computer, it is simply a cool gadget that serves no real new purpose, but hey, its apple

  459. Roy Stone on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 7:07 pm
  460. mega fail, just a big ipod touch. If it ran osX and had more storage I would buy but as is no go.

  461. Max on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 7:08 pm
  462. No, our next addition to Apple system in our house will be iMac + 2 iPhones (me and my wife). P.S. this is already 41 unsuccessful attempt to win actually in this giveaways.

  463. Matt W on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 7:09 pm
  464. Maybe once it gets multitasking abilities.

  465. A. Emre Ünal on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 7:21 pm
  466. My mom should, the things he uses a PC for are present in it and she was going to buy a laptop anyway, though I am a bit skeptical myself as it’s not a true laptop and I already own an iPhone for nearly all the stuff it does.

  467. Alex Gzz on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 7:47 pm
  468. I will buy one for sure… once the second gen coms to market ;-)

  469. Harry on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 7:53 pm
  470. It definitely has a place in the market and I would only consider buying it to use as:
    - an organiser
    - ebook reader
    - portfolio/idea exchange when meeting with clients

  471. Sam on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 7:59 pm
  472. Personally, my eyes are good enough to stick with my iPad nano (iPhone). It does everything I need it to (plus makes phone calls).

Had it have been running regular OSX, then I would have seriously considered buying one to go along side my MBP.

  473. copper on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 8:01 pm
  474. I’m interested in the e-book aspect, but certainly won’t be buying a 1st gen.

  477. Eric Santos on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 8:21 pm

  489. Gabriel on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:06 pm

  491. Jacob on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:15 pm
  492. I will certainly consider one if the potential is used for multiple applications.

  494. I’d love one, but I don’t need it, so no (for now).

  495. Kevin on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:38 pm
  496. I think the iPad is awesome and I would absolutely get one, except I won’t. I can’t install my Mac apps on it. That is a deal breaker for me.

  497. anthy on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 9:51 pm
  498. On one hand: I’ve been waiting for a good, affordable tablet computer for more than half a decade.

On the other hand: I don’t know that the iPad is it. There are too many things wrong with it: lack of flash and USB support (without extra dongles), being unable to dock the tablet horizontally, etc.

On the other other hand…it’s so shiny.

Will I buy? Probably not…unless I try it out in-store and love it. I may buy one of the tablets that pops up in the next few months instead. (Though I definitely won’t complain if I win an iPad somewhere. :-) )

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  499. Scott Dominick on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:00 pm
  500. I’m into the iPad. Don’t know about the name though. I’ll buy it when it has multitasking and a larger amount of memory — at least 128GB. Both will be standard in about 2 to 3 years…

  501. Charlie on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:00 pm
  502. Hate the name, and think I may wait for the 2nd generation

  503. Peter Murray on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:08 pm
  504. to small, battery life sucks, battery is not removable, no I will not buy one until things are fixed.

  505. Mykel on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:14 pm
  506. I definitely don’t need it, but I do want it and I will get it!!

  507. Tyler Wall on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:15 pm
  508. I definitely want one. What would for sure seal the deal is if you could somehow use it as a multitouch external monitor. Kind of like a Wacom Cintiq, minus the pen. There should be an app for that.

    Things that need pointing out:

No Flash? – So what? It has Youtube, and Apps can replace any flash game.

No Camera? – Even if it had a camera, most people would still use their phone to take pictures. 90% of phones nowadays have cameras. Most people carry their phones with them everywhere they go, but there are some places I wouldn’t take an iPad.

Not OSX? – Wait for developers to make Apps for it. There will be many Apps similar if not the same as ones you run on your Mac/PC.

  509. leeanna on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:28 pm
  510. I’m not as excited about it as I’d hoped I would be, so I won’t be getting one. While I love the idea of a tablet, frankly I don’t need one since I have an iPod Touch and 2 laptops. I’d rather spend my money on a Mac Book Air.

  511. William To on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:28 pm
  512. yeah – I’m gonna buy 3 – parents, wife, & kids.

  513. Jason on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:43 pm
  514. If any other company released a device that had all the iPad offers (app store, iPod Touch/iPhone app compatibility, form factor, mature OS, low entry price point, custom chip) it would be heralded as the device that changes the game for everyone from the company of the future.

The iPad is going to be a huge hit and I would love one.

  515. Daniel on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 10:43 pm
  516. Not yet. I’ll wait until it has an optional styles for me to write and draw with.

  521. Colin on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:23 pm

  528. The iPad looks like a big iPod Touch. I love my Touch so i’d probably love he iPad too. I’m leaning towards waiting until the 2G iPad comes around, but it’s damn tempting to buy one right now. Plus I get a discount on the apple store online through work.

  529. SPS on Thu, 4th Feb 2010 11:58 pm
  530. ehh, maybe I’ll be impressed after I actually lay hands on one.

  532. May buy the 3G model for travel. Last trip I only took my iPod touch and got everything done that I had to do. With the larger screen I may be able to do a few of the things I needed to do.

  533. SteveB on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 12:17 am
  534. Damn skippy I’m going to buy an iPad. The only negative to it right now is that you can’t buy one yet! I am so looking forward to being able to use something larger than my iPhone to browse the internet on my couch while watching TV.

  535. Chris on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 12:24 am
  536. The iPad’s pretty cool. Can’t afford one now though because I just recently got my MBP. Will likely wait a while to get one.

  537. Johann Smith on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 12:30 am

  539. annonuem on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 1:02 am
  540. For portable Work my MacBook is portable enough, I prefer buying an iPhone, but I don’t want that f****ing T-Mobile contract.

  541. John on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 1:11 am
  542. I like it, but I would only get one (for my wife) if it had built in web cam for video chatting. I also think it’s a bummer that it won’t run flash (even though I personally don’t care for flash). I think it’s hard to have the ultimate web experience when I can’t view a lot of stuff because it’s flash.

So, no. I’m not getting one.

  543. Ronny Steinmetz on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 2:33 am
  544. Aren’t we all gonna end up with one?!
Agreed, there are features missing, agreed, it has no camera…
But common… It’s got an Apple Logo at the backside…

  545. Rodney on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 2:59 am
  546. I’m going to get one and use it as a huge iPod and get some huge headphones to go with it.

  547. David on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 3:04 am
  548. Reserved for the moment. Would like to see how it handles books. Will it be just another ebook reader like the Kindle or will they change how we read and interact with books.

  550. This is for me!!!!

  551. Esteban on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 4:14 am
  552. It will depend a lot on how it evolves, and on how it handles e-books. For some reason I feel nothing can substitute good old paper.

  553. Rick Nunn on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 4:56 am
  554. I honestly didn’t think I’d hear myself say this, but I am considering getting one. BUT! If it will support the download of RAW files from my camera then I am totally getting one.

  570. I will eventually but not the first generation.

  571. Tim on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 9:42 am

  574. Yeppers…. the wife actually wants it…

  575. Vince LoGreco on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 10:18 am
  576. No, I wouldn’t buy an iPad. When I heard Apple was releasing a tablet in the fit of rumors spewed out over the last couple of years I was expecting something more similar to the Modbook. What Apple released was pretty much a modern Newton. Maybe they should have called it NewtonX. But since I have a capable clamshell iBook and an iPhone, I really dont have the need for the iPad.

  577. Brian ALberghini on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 10:52 am
  578. Yup, I’ll buy one. Put it right next to my Mac Classic.
It does have an interface to the Classic doesn’t it?
    9 pin serial right?
    Really It does, doesn’t it?

  579. Gerard on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 10:59 am
  580. It’s great… if you don’t already have an iPhone/iPod touch. But even having one, I’m considering buying an iPad. It’s not a huge revolution, but it’s still a very good product.

  581. Scott on Fri, 5th Feb 2010 11:39 am
  582. It’s kinda cool, but there’s a few things I’d like to see on it before I’d buy one. Camera and multi-tasking definitely. Other carriers besides AT&T would be nice.

  680. First I believe Apple felt too much pressure from the media and the industry as well, so it was about time they came out with something and trust me it’s not that bad but also it isn’t that good as we (mainly customers) might have expected.

This happens because of all the rumors that spread wildly over the internet and the supposedly leaked photos, or maybe the purposed renders from industrial designers and fans all over the world. But that’s what they were only renders, hypothetical stuff.

So if I have too judge Apple iPad I must weight this in mind, surely the new A4 and the level of touching response seems marvelous, the new book store will be a blast indeed and everyone with a fair knowledge of the SDK will come with fantastic apps that maybe fill in the blanks for the things left out.

Of course the lack of a camera and multitasking features and the suspicious hermetic new hybrid OS are kind of detrimental but not the point to condemn the gadget and it’s creators. Personally, I believe that in the long run Apple with come with the definitively amazing gadget that people seek unfortunately we’ll just have to wait maybe as someone else said with 2nd gen or via OS updates, third party apps or hardware, who knows.

Me being a vocal coach and graphic designer miss quite a lot the cam so I will buy me a MacBook instead, but if I have the resources (money hehe) I’ll for sure acquire one because I still prefer something out of Apple Labs that those from their PC counterparts.

  689. Philip on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 12:33 pm
  690. Interesting device, but hard to sell as a productivity tool absent multi-tasking. Until it’s available with that, and on Verizon instead of AT&T – it’s not not on my ‘to get’ list.

  691. Hanan on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 1:00 pm
  692. I have mixed feelings about the iPad…
I think I’ll know better if I’m getting one or not, when the new iPhone comes out.
If the iPhone will be same chip but smaller, I’ll go iPhone.

  693. Kyle on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 1:09 pm
  694. In my opinion it seems like an over sized iPod touch, and I already have an iPhone so the next Apple product that i get will probably be a Mac Book Pro.

  695. David on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 1:38 pm
  696. I think it fits my requirements precisely from this kind of a device. I will defiantly buy one. The first true computing “appliance”.

  697. Mikko on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 2:43 pm
  698. Fun thing, could actually be of use to someone, but not me. Will not be getting one.

  699. Lovro on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 5:21 pm
  700. I will buy it for my mother :) It look easy enough even for her.

  701. Gene Spafford on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 8:56 pm
  702. If one comes out with a camera, then yeah, but not in its current form.

  703. Carlo on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 9:01 pm
  704. I like it but it doesn’t seem useful for me now. Will wait awhile

  705. Jeff on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 9:36 pm
  706. I think in a year, the iPad will be a killer product and will alter how we consume media.

  707. VB on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 11:23 pm
  708. probably wont buy first gen, but it’s looking good for the future

  709. SkippyThorson on Sun, 7th Feb 2010 11:36 pm
  710. It’s godly, but I think I’m gonna pass on this one. I need a new laptop more at the moment. Plus, I’m due for an iPhone update when the new one comes out. Too many things at once, Steve.

  711. Dennis on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 1:19 am
  712. I would propably buy two: One for my mom (she cant handle her Win7 notebook), one for me (love surfing on the couch).

  713. Nathan D on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 1:27 am
  714. If I had the money, I’d get one. i think it is a brilliant release, from a corporate point of view.

  715. Ryan on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 2:15 am
  716. Definitely would buy my parents one (or two?), it is absolutely the perfect computer for them. They couldn’t care less about the “missing features,” and an iPad does everything they want to do on a regular basis. And then I hope someone buys my then broke self one.

  717. Phil Nacionales on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 4:29 am
  718. Yes. For two reasons: 1) It’s an alternative to displaying my portfolio to clients. (Rather than carrying a cumbersome brief, reel, etc). 2) My ipod touch is dead.

  719. stormadvisor on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 6:49 am
  720. I will not be getting one. I expected more for all the secrecy.

  721. Men_in_Black on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 7:21 am
  722. I think i won’t buy one, I will get a Macbook. I think there are not all the possibilities I need/want, if I could install normal OS-X apps, i would buy it.

  723. Aldo Johnson on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 8:01 am
  724. Probably not, thought it could be extremely useful in my job as a High School teacher.

  725. Aldo Johnson on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 8:03 am
  726. Probably not, though it could be extremely useful in my job as a High School teacher.

  727. Gabriel on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 9:13 am
  728. it looks awesome… can’t wait to get one….

  729. Adam on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 11:25 am
  730. It would be a lot more attractive with a UI meant for the device it is running on instead the supersized iPhone. Hardware looks pretty slick and has a lot of potential too bad apple is utilizing none of it

  731. Brandon on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 12:08 pm
  732. When I get rich – yes. Or 2nd generation, whichever comes first.

  733. Tim on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 12:33 pm
  734. I’m usually a 2nd generation buyer, but the iPad meets a need for my father- he has been developing serious vision problems, and can’t read well. large print books aren’t cutting it for him, and neither are the e-ink deals… yet he can read quite comfortably from a back-lit screen. So, I’m thinking iPad for him, ASAP, providing I can load non- apple epub files onto it.

  735. Shaun on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 12:38 pm
  736. I think the iPad is amazing! Better than anything else out there for it’s class. Yes, there are some shortcomings, but doesn’t everything have some kind of shortcoming? Can’t wait to get it!

  737. Trip Mitchell on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 1:55 pm
  738. this would really help my 6 year old budding computer animator get his feet wet, and so much fun for Daddy, too.

  739. ronny on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 2:25 pm
  740. nope. my ipod touch is a much more economical substitute.

  741. Lienster on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 3:10 pm
  742. love the iPad, and definitely will buy one. it solves my dilemma of choosing between the ipod touch and the macbookpro.

  743. Mike on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 4:39 pm
  744. Yeah, I’m gonna get one! Some for the office too!

  745. merry prankster on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 9:25 pm
  746. I’ll be standing inline when the 3G version comes out.

  747. Andrew Kelley on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 10:47 pm
  748. well considering i dont have the money for it, i will not get it. Unless someone buys it for me of course. I think its more of a want than a need. and i want ;)

  749. Wade Smith on Mon, 8th Feb 2010 11:36 pm
  750. I suspect, like the iPhone before it, no-one will really have a clue about what it can do and what it will mean until it’s been here for a spell. I intend to get iteration #2 at the moment, but that’s mostly because I don’t know about things I want to know about, like bluetooth access, wifi updating, media support, etc.

  751. Victor on Tue, 9th Feb 2010 3:49 am
  752. It’s a giant Zune!, I don’t think i will buy it.

  753. shel on Tue, 9th Feb 2010 3:55 am
  754. Smitten with the iPad and I’m dying to own one when they come out. Saving my sheckles now

  755. Hugo on Tue, 9th Feb 2010 4:04 am
  756. I’ll be waiting for the next generation. Maybe when it has a full OS. I want to use on the bus, charging and syncing other iPods and iPhones and using a full iTunes with a 2TB portable hard disk.

  757. laura on Tue, 9th Feb 2010 12:30 pm
  758. I’ll buy, but maybe not right away.

  759. Teegan on Tue, 9th Feb 2010 3:58 pm
  760. Why would I buy an iPad when I already have an iPad Nano…

  761. Mike on Tue, 9th Feb 2010 4:09 pm
  762. Yes, I will probably buy one, but not the 3G model.

  763. Matt on Tue, 9th Feb 2010 7:13 pm
  764. I will buy one when there’s a front facing camera and multitasking.

  765. Marlon on Tue, 9th Feb 2010 9:22 pm
  766. I’m gonna wait for the second generation that it will be so much better xD!!!

  767. Gabriel on Tue, 9th Feb 2010 9:41 pm
  768. I thought it was pretty sweet… but i think i’m going to wait for the 2nd generation for the webcam

  769. Tom Ross on Wed, 10th Feb 2010 12:06 am
  770. It is okay, not as great as the hype. Not bad. Just like, ehhh, maybe. Hopefully Apple doesn’t treat it like a hobby (see AppleTV).

  771. Alex on Wed, 10th Feb 2010 5:13 am
  772. It doesn’t replace a laptop…

  773. Richard on Wed, 10th Feb 2010 5:20 am
  774. Not a revolution as the iPhone, maybe a USB internal port?

  775. keith j on Thu, 11th Feb 2010 4:25 pm
  776. I think the ipad is very slick and can’t wait to see where it goes. I’d definitely buy one. Everybody and their grandmother is going to make stuff for it.

  777. Adam Fisher-Cox on Fri, 12th Feb 2010 1:49 pm
  778. I think with third party apps it will be awesome, and yes I do hope to get one!

  779. Jeff on Fri, 12th Feb 2010 4:41 pm
  780. G2 will be better; It’s up in the air.
