Win an Epson WorkForce 635 All-in-One Printer!

Who wants a free printer? A free Scanner? A Free Fax machine? How about all THREE! It occurred to us this weekend that it had been a couple weeks since we last attempted to buy your readership by giving away free stuff, so we’re going to make up for that slip big time by giving away the super cool Epson WorkForce 635 All-in-One Printer. We’re currently in the process of reviewing it, and it’s pretty sweet, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise... Read More

I smell a Nerf Gun war!

Here at Macenstein Labs, we pride ourselves on providing our employees with a ridiculously fun and immature working environment… in lieu of payment. But it looks like the folks over at iOS game developers ngmoco might be trying to steal some of our employees away with this latest Twitter post. “An LED Cinema Display fort has appeared at #ngmoco HQ this morning.” OK, well if that’s how you want to play, Macenstein formally challenges you to a Nerf Gun... Read More

I would put this on the front of my Windows 7 phone

Those looking for a way to protect their iPhone’s from scratches without the bulk (or protection) of a case have long turned to stickers to fill the void. For the most part people like to go the Invisible Shield route, but more and more we’ve be seeing protective stickers with some really nice graphic prints on them ranging from consumer-friendly Iron Man to the more abstract. Well, check out cleverly stupid decal entitled “Default UI” by Top Decal. That’s... Read More

Are the new iPod nano’s experiencing battery problems?

Faithful Macenstein reader Norm writes: “Apple has now replaced my 3rd and 4th new iPod nano 16Gb multi-touch due to shortened battery life. Apple claims 23+ hours. All four nanos, purchased at 2 separate Apple NYC stores run completely down after only 5 to 5 1/2 hours of continuous music listening. No backlight on, no other functions were in use. Apple claims I am the first to bring this to their attention. I find that hard to believe! My stepdaughter just experienced... Read More

Further proof that everything’s better with Chuck

Those of you who missed out on Apple’s free bumper case program for the iPhone 4 may want to start searching Google Images for pictures of everyone’s favorite Texas Ranger. Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Mike for the tip!  Read More

Pocket God’s “Double Rainbow” update is the greatest milestone in iPhone history

If you own an iPhone, odds are by this point, you either own Pocket God or have long ago decided it was so stupid that you would NEVER buy it and anyone who did is an idiot. Well, if you’re open to listening to the opinion of an idiot, I must wholeheartedly recommend you pick up Pocket God, if for no other reason than the latest update, entitled “Double Rainbow All The Way Across The Sky“, which after two weeks still brings a smile to my face. I’ll admit... Read More

Review: iPhone 4 Vapor case by Element Case

I can’t think of a more visually drool-worthy iPhone case than the Vapor case from Element Case. Machined from a solid block of aircraft grade aluminum and then anodized to create a hard protective coating, it is the only iPhone case I know of that still has a 6-week waiting period a full few months after going on sale. Starting at $80 and going up depending on options and colors, the price of the Vapor doesn’t seem to be hurting demand. But is it justified? Well,... Read More

Now THAT’S a Mobile Home!

We’re no stranger to the Apple inspired art of Uber-talented interface artist Johannes P Osterhoff, but we must say, we’re quite impressed with his latest endeavor, the “Giant Home Folder Icon”. While it was apparently not designed as a Halloween costume, I would have definitely put an extra Snickers in his bag if he showed up to my house. And let me just say for the record, I mean that LITERALLY, and not in as some sort of sexual inuendo. Although,... Read More

iPads, Camera, ACTION!

I’ve seen iPads used as teleprompters, and odds are once we get the iPad 2 we’ll see them used as (low budget) movie cameras. But right now, check out this extremely awesome and surprisingly effective lighting rig made entirely or iPads. iPad Photoshoot from Jesse Rosten on Vimeo.
