How to make any text selection into a Stickie Note

Here’s something cool/useless I just picked up on Reddit, so I figured I would share the fruit of knowledge with you. Have you ever wanted to select a bit of text and immediately create a Stickie Note note out of it? No? Well, here’s how anyway! Read More  Read More

Four “WTF was Apple Thinking?” iTunes design decisions

Everyone loves iTunes – mainly because if you use an iPod, iPhone or iPad, you have no choice but to love it. But for a company as well known for their UI design as Apple is, there are still a couple “WTF were they thinking?” oversights that bug me on a daily basis as I sync my devices. Here are my top 4. 1. Seriously? You had to use Purple TWICE? Apple needed to come up with 6 colors for various media types and couldn’t get past 5? Read More  Read More

Susan Kare’s Mac icon prints are the perfect holiday gift (for ME)

AHHH!!! Why couldn’t faithful Macenstein reader Jason have told us about these awesome signed Mac OS icon prints from original pixel art icon Susan Kare BEFORE I loaded my Christmas list with Angry Birds plush dolls?!?! Oh well, at $90 a pop, these would have made a rather expensive Christmas for the Bride of Macenstein, as I obviously would need the whole set (just like the Angry Birds plush dolls). For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kare’s work, well, odds... Read More

New Fieldrunners update is AWESOME (Except that it sucks)

This Thursday a new free update to Fieldrunners arrived on my iPad (a paid version for the iPhone subsequently hit today) featuring multi-player and 3 new maps. As anyone who knows me knows, Fieldrunners is perhaps my all-time favorite iOS game, so I viewed this unexpected update as a true Christmas miracle. All three new maps are awesome, the new towers are awesome, the multi-payer is awesome – EVERYTHING about the update is awesome, except for one thing. It sucks. As... Read More

Word Lens – Another amazing iPhone app I will never use except to impress people

Every once in awhile an iPhone app comes along that is so game-changing, so utterly genius, and so utter useless to me personally that I still feel compelled to get it anyway, just to impress people who don’t already own an iPhone. Word Lens is just such an app. Two things should be immediately apparent from the screenshot above. The first, is that Word Lens uses “augmented reality” to automatically translate and replace any Spanish text into English (or Englsh... Read More

Review: Epson WorkForce 635 All-in-One

In case you never got the memo, the days of buying a stand alone printer, scanner, copier or fax machine are officially over. There was a time when the idea of buying an all-in-one device was a risky venture, as not only were they expensive, but if any one (or two) of the components crapped out on you, you were left with an expensive and bulky device that now needed an extra bulky and expensive device or two to pick up the slack. Now, with all-in-one printer/scanner/fax/copiers... Read More

Games that don’t suck: Helsing’ Fire

GAMES THAT DON’T SUCK is a feature dedicated to games that I think are well worth your hard earned money, but not worth me sitting down and spending 3 hours crafting an in-depth review (these things are 99¢ after all). However, you can rest assured that any game bearing Macenstein’s GTDS rating is worth buying, sight unseen, based solely on my expert opinion. Helsing’s Fire [iPhone 99¢, iPad $1.99, Lite (free)] is a game I meant to review a few months ago,... Read More
