Welcome to Macenstein‘s “Mac Chick of the Month”. Each month we feature a different die-hard, Mac-loving girl who is (almost) as well designed as the Apple products they love. This month we present you with the lovely Danette Wallace, a creatively talented free spirit and of course, a die-hard Mac Chick!

Danette comes to us from Southern California’s little town of Ojai, where she was introduced to Mac products in 2005 and has been a fan ever since. “You know what they say…’Once you go Mac, you never go back,’” says Danette.

“I had been using PCs most all my life, with the exception of college when Macs were in all the schools. After college I went into the business world and was swallowed up by the world of PC domination. I became completely disassociated with Macs until years later when I started hanging out with more creative types.

In late 2004 I started getting into multimedia projects. Whenever I attended media workshops, I noticed that everyone around me had Macs….literally, Everyone. I felt like an odd ball. I started asking people why they chose Macs over PCs. Every person I asked would rave about how much easier Macs are to use than PCs and how much better it is to have one if you’re working on creative projects. So I decided to make the switch.

My first Mac product was a 15” 1.65 GHz 2GB Macbook Pro that I bought off someone from Craigslist. The bonus is it came with over $1300 worth of free software since I bought it off of a private party. Since then I have owned a 3G iPhone, a 60G iPod Classic, a 1G iPod Mini and 1G iPod Shuffle. My newest purchase is a 13” 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Macbook Pro.”

“I’m a total gadget nut. If I could, I would buy everything Mac: A 27” iMac, a 4G iPhone, an iPad, an iPod Touch, not to mention all the other gadgets that I would like to have like a Kindle e-reader, a Sonos music system, a Harmon Cardon surround sound system and so on. It may not look like it but I’m a total geek. I tell people that I’m a girl on the outside and a geek on the inside. J

“Not only do I like the functionality of Macs but I also like what Macs represent. This may seem strange but I think of Macs as matching my personality. Creative, Innovative, Intuitive, and a bit Counter Culture.”

Danette says she likes breaking stereotypes and bursting peoples’ misconceptions. “I love when people see my modeling portfolio or see me all dressed up and have a preconceived notion about what kind of person I am, and then later, they find out the truth.”

“I do modeling as a hobby because it’s fun and I love playing characters but what I really love is science, technology, quantum physics, new-thought, exposé films, and world movements.”

Danette’s most recent involvement is with the Zeitgeist Movement. She is the Ventura County Chapter Coordinator and is heavily involved with spreading awareness about the movement’s documentaries and proposed solution to the current socio-economic predicament.

“The world would be a better place if we had all the technology we needed and the absence of mental slavery.”

There needs to be a Mac Chick of the Year award to decide which month had the best chick.

Based on the fact I have a girlfriend, I’m going to pass on judging this one right now.
