Macenstein’s Ultimate DragonVale Breeding Guide

So it appears more than a few of you are looking for tips on breeding various Dragons in DragonVale
(Free/Universal). If you’re not familiar with the game, you can read our review here, but suffice it to say it’s one of those “time burglars” where you raise and cross-breed various dragon-types to create the ultimate Magical Dragon zoo. Ultimately pointless, yet addicting. Unfortunately, some dragons can be hard to get, and though you may TRY to breed a combinations that looks like they should get you a hard-to-get Rainbow or Moon Dragon or such, sometimes it just doesn’t happen. So we decided to put out a list of what we have found to work for each Dragon Type. I currently have a couple of every dragon (my Game Center ID is “Dr Macenstein” if you’d like to check out my dragons) and while many of them can be gotten with different combos, I will tell you only what breeding combinations actually DID work for me. I will warn you that occasionally even the right combination may take up 20 times or even more, but I promise you, these combinations WILL work. Eventually. Also note a couple of these dragons are “seasonal”, and may not be available at the moment no matter what dragons you breed. Finally, I suggest for most hybrids you purchase the Breeding Island (located under “ISLANDS” in the market) as it can increase your odds when attempting to breed a particularly hard to get hybrid. That being said I think I have also bred most of these with the regular breeding cave as well. ALSO, please note: For pretty much every dragon I have found that the order does NOT matter, despite what people say. For instance I got a Plasma with Lightning and Seaweed, and my wife got it with Seaweed and Lightning. So feel free to mix up the order of my suggestions if you’d like. Again, I’m just telling you what worked for me. First up we have the “Elemental Dragons”. These cannot be bred – you have to shell out coins for these – so start saving. On the plus side, these dragons make up the building blocks for all other dragons, so once you have them, you can get the rest (well, ALMOST all the rest).

I’m at level 21 now and for the past fe levels the only goal I had listed was to breed a rainbow dragon. I figured that once I did that, more goals would pop up but none have. Are there going to be more goals? The game is kinda pointless without them…
You do not need goals. One of the main goals are just getting rare dragons. I’m constantly happy trying to keep up with new dragons. One goal you could make up is getting the new gold dragon.

Ok quick question for the special child that I am!!! What is with the little glowing orbs above some dragons?? What is it for and how does it come about??

I keep on getting forge dragons when I NEED a brass dragon. Does anyone have any tips for me PLEASE?
Breed fire and forge and you will get brass every time. 4 hours incubation, a million if you sell, and 200,000 xp makes it a great for leveling up and making cash too.

To breed the Gold Dragon, it has been established that the elements metal and fire must be present. This means many combinations are possible. The Gold Dragon can be bred at either the Breeding Cave/Epic Breeding Island. Try Chrome/Scorch, Plant/Forge, Storm/Forge, Metal/Fire or Brass/Flower.
Available: Level 17
Habitat: Treasure (New Habitat)
Opposite: None
Incubation Time: 48 hours
Upgraded Breeding: 38 hours 24 minutes
Earning Rate/min: 30 (194 at level 10)
Buying Price: 2,250
Selling Price: 5,000,000
Hatch: 600,000

Has anyone had this problem before??! Or can someone pleas help. Not too sure what’s happened but my game just reset itself and I’m back to the start. I was on lvl 22 and now I’ve lost all my islands and dragons like I’ve just started the game. Funny thing is my gems, food and gold is still the same as I had it last. I really don’t want to start again as you would all know I’ve spent a considerable amount of time on this game already. Please help.
