Welcome to Macenstein’s“Mac Chick of the Month”. Each month we feature a different die-hard, Mac-loving girl who is (almost) as well designed as the Apple products they love. This month we present you with the lovely Andrea Grant, a fashion model and Camel Cigarette girl who also happens to be a comic book author, in addition to being an Apple fan.
Andrea Grant
Andrea Grant
Andrea Grant is the creator of the striking new urban mythology comic book series ‘Andrea Grant’s MINX’ and the founder of Copious Amounts Press (www.copiousamounts.com). She also plays the lead character of Minx.

Refreshingly original, MINX merges Native American mythology with clever contemporary fantasy, taking elements from the popular super-hero genre and creatively combining it with aspects from more intellectually challenging, autobiographical types of graphic novels.

Also known as ‘The Pin-Up Poet’ because of her background as a fashion model (most famously as a Camel Cigarettes girl), Grant has had more than 150 articles, poems and photographs published internationally in arts journals. She has already been the subject of three national documentaries.

Grant has several books slated for release this year including a collection of her poetry and photos as part of the ‘Pin-Up Poet’ series, a haunting memoir about leaving a repressed religious upbringing to find her voice as an artist, a collaborative retelling of the Grimm Fairytales with acclaimed Seattle pop-artist Justin Hampton and the curation of a book of portraits of comic book icons shot by award-winning photographer Ken Thurlbeck.

Andrea Grant
“I bought my first iPod when I moved to New York in 2004 with the intention of drowning out the din of the city.” says Andrea. “I’ve never looked back. I am obsessed with music, and I need to hear it playing constantly in order to think and create. Music calms and inspires me, and sings me to sleep. My iPod goes everywhere: to photo shoots, on the subway train, in taxis, on long walks.
Andrea Grant
“I just got a new video iPod, and it’s so cool to be able to watch video footage of my interviews, store photos and back up information on my contacts. I always listen to ‘The Art of War’ audio book when I need to prepare for battle in the business world. I also like to listen to all the rough cuts of my spoken word recordings so that when I go into the studio I can clearly communicate edits to producers. I always had a PC laptop, but I made the switch to Apple because I want to learn how to edit my own art video as the next thing. I cannot wait to take classes at the Apple store and geek out!”

  50. I yet have to see a Mac product… yeah yeah she has iPods, but no Mac? She even owns a “MDA Pocket PC” (shivers). While very cute indeed, she’s no “Mac Chic of the month”… “iPod chick of the month” at best.

  56. are you trying to promote intelligent design with “almost as well designed”. I guess if you mean the collective design of billions of humans over thousands of years…..

  58. I think if they used her for Apple advertising they would get a lot more apple customers LOL. She is gorgeous and an honor to be a Apple Fan just like us. :)
