UK iPhone Reviewer: Calls work best when phone is right-side-up, with plastic removed
In reviewing products, we’ve all had our moments of idiocy, but MacRumors forum member dombookpro posted one of the funniest pics we’ve seen in a while.
In preparation for the Phone’s UK launch, Sky’s Technology Correspondent Ian Woods was given an iPhone to test, and while his review is very favorable and rather in-depth, 2 things all but invalidate the poor man’s opinion. First comes this line on his initial impression of the iPhone’s call quality:
My first few calls on the phone were not very clear. I couldn’t hear the caller properly. Ah - a fault, I thought. Then I realised that the protective film which covers the screen when new, also covers the earpiece. Duh.
OK, that in and off itself wouldn’t be horrible; it’s actually refreshing to see someone admit their mistakes, and we could see a consumer making a similar one. However, that line, coupled with the following soon-to-be-infamous picture, and we’re left speechless.

Thanks to faithful Macenstein reader Brian for the tip!

Between this and Journeyman, you’ve got to wonder if maybe Apple should have included a “this side up” indicator
