“The 12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaway: Day 25

On the Twenty-Fifth Day After Christmas (or is it the first Day of Martin Luther King Jr. Day?), Macenstein gave to you (or, more accurately, gave you a chance to win…) an Elevator Desktop Stand for Personal Computers from Griffin!

Griffin
Elevator Desktop Stand for Personal Computers

I love this thing. Not only does it look cool and help show off your laptop, it actually serves a couple legitimate purposes as well. The Elevator lifts your laptop off your desk, allowing you to reclaim valuable desktop space, while at the same time raising the screen to a more comfortable, ergonomically friendly viewing height. And, by “elevating” your laptop, you also allow for a 360Ëš airflow which will help keep your computer running cooler (and as any MacBook owner knows, Macs may look cool, but they don’t run cool). Elevator’s sturdy brushed aluminum and minimal design go great with any desk decor, and Elevator holds your portable computer safely and securely at just the right height to match external monitors – and to save your aching neck.

To enter: Speaking of neck strain, this morning I took a comically bad face plant while sledding and really hurt my neck (sorry, no video, but it basically looked like this). So to enter this contest, simply leave us a comment telling us what is the worst injury you have ever sustained? Winners will be picked randomly 7 days later and notified (kind of like in The Ring, only with less killing… we hope). Open to all readers world-wide. Good luck, and thanks for reading Macenstein! (Oh, and be sure to enter ALL our “12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaways!)
Please note: Comments may take a while to show up, please do not double-post. Thanks!

  33. Alex says:

I got knocked off my motorbike by a van and due to the nature of traffic the ambulance couldn’t get to me so the crew took me by stretcher to it. This was in winter and one crew member slipped on a small patch of ice and headbutted me in the ‘testicular area’. I was strapped in at the time so couldn’t even shift out of the way a little bit. Although technically I didn’t break anything so not sure its classed as an injury.

My second motorbike accident did involve me breaking 3 metacarpals on my right hand, while transferring my hand from a back slab to a volar brace, the nurse rebroke one of the metacarpals by accident. That definitely counts as that one was really painful (and visually quite impressive with my hand not quite being the right shape!)

  34. Doug says:

I tripped while taking a walk and got a large gravel stuck in my hand just a a couple of weeks before going on vacation. Nice. I bled like a stuck pig and it took a couple of stitches to close up.

  35. Perry Lynch says:

On the Sunday after Christmas, our new puppy tripped me on our basement stairs. I went down the last 4 steps with my right leg out in front of me and my left leg seemingly glued to the steps. When I landed on the basement floor, I was sitting on my left leg, but my left foot was still upon the first or second step. I heard and felt all three cracks, like a CRUUUNCH, and then screamed loud enough to rattle the walls.

End result: Left ankle is broken in 3 places, I’ve got a 6″ titanium plate with more screws than I could count on the X-ray, a bright blue fiberglass cast, and another 6 weeks to go before I can think of getting back to normal. And crutches SUCK!

  36. tony says:
