“The 12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaway: Day 25
On the Twenty-Fifth Day After Christmas (or is it the first Day of Martin Luther King Jr. Day?), Macenstein gave to you (or, more accurately, gave you a chance to win…) an Elevator Desktop Stand for Personal Computers from Griffin!

I love this thing. Not only does it look cool and help show off your laptop, it actually serves a couple legitimate purposes as well. The Elevator lifts your laptop off your desk, allowing you to reclaim valuable desktop space, while at the same time raising the screen to a more comfortable, ergonomically friendly viewing height. And, by “elevating” your laptop, you also allow for a 360Ëš airflow which will help keep your computer running cooler (and as any MacBook owner knows, Macs may look cool, but they don’t run cool). Elevator’s sturdy brushed aluminum and minimal design go great with any desk decor, and Elevator holds your portable computer safely and securely at just the right height to match external monitors – and to save your aching neck.
To enter: Speaking of neck strain, this morning I took a comically bad face plant while sledding and really hurt my neck (sorry, no video, but it basically looked like this). So to enter this contest, simply leave us a comment telling us what is the worst injury you have ever sustained? Winners will be picked randomly 7 days later and notified (kind of like in The Ring, only with less killing… we hope). Open to all readers world-wide. Good luck, and thanks for reading Macenstein! (Oh, and be sure to enter ALL our “12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaways!)
Please note: Comments may take a while to show up, please do not double-post. Thanks!
Sliced the side of my finger off with a x-acto knife.
I’ve been fairly lucky in the way of injuries–only little things. The most painful injury I’ve had was pulling both of my quads during softball season and not being able to walk. At all. :/
Got the tip of one finger stuck in the joint between the panels of a garage door… squished it flat.
I just got a great big pneumatic flooring nailer and will begin installing my first hardwood floor any day now, so stand by…
When I was three, our family was standing on a corner waiting for the light to change when a driver ran a red light. I ended up with a car in the face. I won’t give the details here but suffice it to say that it wasn’t good.
I was 8 years old. I was playing with my Mother’s sewing machine. I put the needle right through my finger.
broken bones
Fell from a tree house we were building – without adult supervision of course. Landed on a board with a nail protruding up and it pierced my forearm. Stood up and the board swung from my arm like a pendulum. Wicked awesome.
10th grade art class: I took the end of my thumb off right thought the nail on the paper cutter. Had to go to a plastic surgeon to have it fixed.
I broke my big toe… kicked what I thought was an empty box, turned out it was full of bricks.
Fell off a stool with casters and landed point down on my elbow.
Getting out of my car! Seriously… opened the door, got out and felt a huge pain go down my neck and back. Simply twisted the wrong way. Had to go to the chiropractor for a couple of weeks to work out the pinched nerve. Painful!
Flipped over the handlebars of my bike when my chain snapped while racing down a long hill on a street… Landed on my face and skidded about 30 feet peeling a ton of skin off my face and lips, breaking my nose, ribs, and severe concussion.
I had my right ear ripped off during a rugby game. The ear was flapping around and I didn’t even know it. My teammates used electrical tape an taped it on my head because they didn’t want me to leave the game. Afterward I went to a hospital and a plastic surgeon was called in to sew it back on. I lost a lot of blood, but we won.
Kick to the nuts while playing basket ball. I cried a little.
A glass bottle shattered in my hand and I managed to slice right through the tendons and nerves in my thumb. At least I didn’t feel it!
Broke a leg falling through 2 floors in a burning building.
The deep emotional and psychological pain I experience every time I enter one of these Macenstein giveaways and realize I’m never ever going to win. It hurts, man. Hurts real bad.
I sliced my own thumb once while cutting styrofoam. Don’t ask me why I was cutting, just know that it was one of the worst wounds I’ve ever had.
both broken bones & broken heart
Fractured Rib – Ouch!
I separated the cartilage in my sternum. Extremely painful; and I still can’t lie on my chest for very long before it hurts too much (and it’s been over 20 years since the injury!).
I was in the back seat when the driver hit a tree. Slid forward and slammed my shins on the bottom lip of the front seat. That was in 1989 – I still have painful scars today.
I’m not very adventurous. The worst I’ve ever done is broken an arm.
staple-gun fight incident in elementary school which left my face slightly bruised and my young, innocent mind bruised forever. other than that… broke both bones in my lower left arm.
When I was little I ran into a slide face-first while playing tag.
fractured wrist falling off skateboard
Not the worst, but the oddest was when I broke my thumb by running over it with my own skis.
Broken arm. Three separate times.
Tried to prove my immortality jumping into a Mt. Etna, but died.
Got kicked in the face with a steel toe boot and broke my nose.
Broke my wrist falling off a ladder – subsequent surgery resulted in further injuries.
Helpful hint: the warning on ladders regarding which steps not to stand on or above should be taken seriously!
My worst injuries came from a dermatologist. They LOVE cutting people up.
Playing broom ball, fell on the ice broke my arm and suffered a concussion. I had dejavu for a few hours.
broken leg in italy ’98
i jumped off my bike and my arm hit a tree and it broke

I think the worst would be my broken arm when I was 3,5ish years old.
Worst “injury” would be the sinus surgery I had last summer. WORTHLESS!!!
I hyper-extended my thumb playing baseball, some dude slide into it
Broken back L-4, L-5 vertebras.
4 stitches on my right ring finger. from swiping it across a saran wrap blade.
yeah. i haven’t had as much action as everyone else. it did however cut a nerve so i can no longer feel the outside of the finger in the area.
I was at my older brothers baseball game and decided to go for a walk about halfway through (i was about 7). As I was walking on of his teammates decided to come to the back of the dugout to start warming up to hit. I wanted to see what he was doing and walked right up. He happened to be swinging right at that moment, and I took the bat right below my nose. I chipped a tooth and broke my nose but amazingly enough, it was nothing serious.
I got hit by a car when I was in the first grade, i went to the hospital and slept it off, no real injuries!
I was making a sodium hydroxide solution when the stirring rod snapped and sliced my thumb down to the bone.
Blew out my knee bowling haha I know how lame
Toss up between sliced open scrotum and having a piece of metal from a blown up bus embed itself in my forehead.
yes, does pneumonia count? the feeling that you can’t breath is horrible.
otherwise i streched my thumb to the opposite direction during training – burned like hell
Really bad concussion… i got in a fight with one guy and he smacked me with baseball bat… I was out for about a day…. I think.
