“The 12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaway: Day 41 – A Wacom Bamboo Fun Pen and Touch tablet
This contest is closed. Congrats to faithful Macenstein reader Mark.
On the Forty-First Day After Christmas, Macenstein gave to you (or, more accurately, gave you a chance to win…) Bamboo Fun Pen and Touch tablet from Wacom!

Bamboo Fun lets you get hands-on with your creative projects, combining the benefits of Multi-Touch with the comfort and precision of Wacom’s ergonomically-designed pen.
With Multi-Touch, you can navigate, scroll, and work with simple hand gestures. With the tablet’s large touch area, you have more room to navigate than you do with other touch devices like computer trackpads and mobile phones.
Need precision? Pick up the pressure-sensitive pen to draw, sketch, edit photos, and add handwritten elements to your creations. The generous size of Bamboo Fun gives you lots of space for creative freedom, making it simple and comfortable to use.
Bamboo Fun works with your existing computer: desktop or laptop, PC or Mac. Attach it to a standard USB port and set it comfortably by your keyboard. You can even customize your Bamboo Fun experience by assigning your own shortcuts to the four ExpressKeys™.
Available in a stylish silver color, Bamboo Fun will complement your current setup. And it includes valuable additions that make it ideal for your creative projects.

I think it’s going to be a big deal. I’ll probably get one for my wife.
might get one when the next gen comes out if i had the money id probably get one now
its great now…. but later we will find out why its much much more.
The iPad is just a giant iPod touch, and $500 is a bit much for an iPod touch that can’t fit in my pocket…
I’ll be getting one each for my mother and grandmother to replace their two G3s 🙂
I plan on getting one.
Well, I’ll buy one and then wait for the camera version and buy that one too.
It’s Tha Bomb. I want it.
I am going to buy one for my Dad and take his PC laptop away from him. It’s an experiment to see if I can get him to switch, because all he does is play games and check email on the thing anyway. He got a virus about a month ago that he had someone get rid of but it cost him some dough to do it, plus all that time without it must’ve been annoying. The only thing I think will make this fail is the lack of flash; I swear every 3 out of 4 emails he sends (forwards) me is some animation or video. Or, it’ll be all those Powerpoint attachments.
Also, it’ll give me an excuse to play with one or, I may inherit after the experiment fails.
Not so usable for me , so I’ll pass…
I expected something more inovating.
not until 2nd or 3rd generation
Yes I’ll buy the 3G version, browsing the web where ever I go with the Tardis 🙂
I wish it were cheaper.
Love it. I’m positive it’ll be a big hit! Hopefully it will jailbreakable by December, when I plan on purchasing!
ipad is awesome! would definitely try to get one. if i could spare the money.
This is an awesome tablet, I’ve used it. I prefer it to a mouse now.
I may buy one later on when I have a more cash to work with.
I think it’s awesome! I personally don’t have much use for it yet, but when I have more free time, I’d love to have one!
Definitely!
I probably would buy one if I didn’t have an iPod Touch. If my iPod Touch were to meet with an unfortunate end, I would seriously consider an iPad and an iPod Nano to replace it.
It looks like it has a lot of potential, and should be capable of filling many peoples media consumption habits, even more so once there is some useful software available for it, which you would pretty much expect to happen at some point.
I’m not planning to get one right away, as my mobile needs are covered between my iPhone and my MBP, but I can see myself getting one eventually. Probably at least a v2 device though.
i will actually consider this if the next iPhone is still stuck with at&t. why would i want an iPhone when i can have an iPad!
i think it is too expensive…. and it reminds me too much of the iphone…
like it..but wont get it until i get a front facing cam
I like iBook store but I don’t buy first gen
yes i will
Yes i’ll buy it…. i think it’s pretty sweet.. can’t wait to have one!
If the ipad would have a front Camera(compare recent rumors) and Running the New iPhone OS with multi-tasking, i would buy One. But nevertheless i am not that big fan of early adopts! So i wait for the 2nd gen.
its a cool product, but frankly, it doesnt provide any new features that you dont have on a laptop or other computer, it is simply a cool gadget that serves no real new purpose, but hey, its apple
mega fail, just a big ipod touch. If it ran osX and had more storage I would buy but as is no go.
No, our next addition to Apple system in our house will be iMac + 2 iPhones (me and my wife). P.S. this is already 41 unsuccessful attempt to win actually in this giveaways.
Maybe once it gets multitasking abilities.
My mom should, the things he uses a PC for are present in it and she was going to buy a laptop anyway, though I am a bit skeptical myself as it’s not a true laptop and I already own an iPhone for nearly all the stuff it does.
I will buy one for sure… once the second gen coms to market 😉
It definitely has a place in the market and I would only consider buying it to use as:
– an organiser
– ebook reader
– portfolio/idea exchange when meeting with clients
Personally, my eyes are good enough to stick with my iPad nano (iPhone). It does everything I need it to (plus makes phone calls).
Had it have been running regular OSX, then I would have seriously considered buying one to go along side my MBP.
I’m interested in the e-book aspect, but certainly won’t be buying a 1st gen.
Looks like it will be awkward to hold and use?
It’s a totally new way to think about application development. On the medical segment I work for, it’ll for sure be a major hit. I’ll buy one.
I think I’ll wait for ver 2
Want one but have no use for one….sound familliar?
yes, but not on release day, maybe Julyish.
I’ll try and hold out for 2.0
Certainely not the first version, maybe the 3rd?…
I think it’s amazing… sure, it looks like a huge ipod touch, but hey…. that’s cool right? I’ll be buying one as soon as it’s out
I will certainly consider one if the potential is used for multiple applications.
I’d love one, but I don’t need it, so no (for now).
I think the iPad is awesome and I would absolutely get one, except I won’t. I can’t install my Mac apps on it. That is a deal breaker for me.
On one hand: I’ve been waiting for a good, affordable tablet computer for more than half a decade.
On the other hand: I don’t know that the iPad is it. There are too many things wrong with it: lack of flash and USB support (without extra dongles), being unable to dock the tablet horizontally, etc.
On the other other hand…it’s so shiny.
Will I buy? Probably not…unless I try it out in-store and love it. I may buy one of the tablets that pops up in the next few months instead. (Though I definitely won’t complain if I win an iPad somewhere. 🙂 )
Thank you for the giveaway!
I’m into the iPad. Don’t know about the name though. I’ll buy it when it has multitasking and a larger amount of memory — at least 128GB. Both will be standard in about 2 to 3 years…
