This contest is closed. Congrats to faithful Macenstein reader Mark.

On the Forty-First Day After Christmas, Macenstein gave to you (or, more accurately, gave you a chance to win…) Bamboo Fun Pen and Touch tablet from Wacom!

Wacom Bamboo Fun Pen and Touch tablet

Bamboo Fun lets you get hands-on with your creative projects, combining the benefits of Multi-Touch with the comfort and precision of Wacom’s ergonomically-designed pen.

With Multi-Touch, you can navigate, scroll, and work with simple hand gestures. With the tablet’s large touch area, you have more room to navigate than you do with other touch devices like computer trackpads and mobile phones.

Need precision? Pick up the pressure-sensitive pen to draw, sketch, edit photos, and add handwritten elements to your creations. The generous size of Bamboo Fun gives you lots of space for creative freedom, making it simple and comfortable to use.

Bamboo Fun works with your existing computer: desktop or laptop, PC or Mac. Attach it to a standard USB port and set it comfortably by your keyboard. You can even customize your Bamboo Fun experience by assigning your own shortcuts to the four ExpressKeys™.

Available in a stylish silver color, Bamboo Fun will complement your current setup. And it includes valuable additions that make it ideal for your creative projects.

  1. Charlie says:

Hate the name, and think I may wait for the 2nd generation

  2. Peter Murray says:

to small, battery life sucks, battery is not removable, no I will not buy one until things are fixed.

  3. Mykel says:

I definitely don’t need it, but I do want it and I will get it!!

  4. Tyler Wall says:

I definitely want one. What would for sure seal the deal is if you could somehow use it as a multitouch external monitor. Kind of like a Wacom Cintiq, minus the pen. There should be an app for that.

    Things that need pointing out:

No Flash? – So what? It has Youtube, and Apps can replace any flash game.

No Camera? – Even if it had a camera, most people would still use their phone to take pictures. 90% of phones nowadays have cameras. Most people carry their phones with them everywhere they go, but there are some places I wouldn’t take an iPad.

Not OSX? – Wait for developers to make Apps for it. There will be many Apps similar if not the same as ones you run on your Mac/PC.

  5. leeanna says:

I’m not as excited about it as I’d hoped I would be, so I won’t be getting one. While I love the idea of a tablet, frankly I don’t need one since I have an iPod Touch and 2 laptops. I’d rather spend my money on a Mac Book Air.

  6. William To says:

    yeah – I’m gonna buy 3 – parents, wife, & kids.

  7. Jason says:

If any other company released a device that had all the iPad offers (app store, iPod Touch/iPhone app compatibility, form factor, mature OS, low entry price point, custom chip) it would be heralded as the device that changes the game for everyone from the company of the future.

The iPad is going to be a huge hit and I would love one.

  8. Daniel says:

Not yet. I’ll wait until it has an optional styles for me to write and draw with.

  9. paul D says:

I am a little disappointed with some of the features that I would have expected to have (true OSX, multitasking, USB…). I might buy one if I can finally write my first iPhone app and makes some money….

  10. Greg Sutton says:

Still up in the air, but maybe a present for the wife.

  11. Colin says:

I love it, except I really want to be able to install any app that I want by default. I will buy one as soon as I can afford it.

  12. Sue says:

Sure! I’d love to own one!

  13. Mason says:

If it was the same size as an iPod touch, I’d already be camped out in front of the Apple Store.

  14. Doctor Flarb says:

The iPad looks like a big iPod Touch. I love my Touch so i’d probably love he iPad too. I’m leaning towards waiting until the 2G iPad comes around, but it’s damn tempting to buy one right now. Plus I get a discount on the apple store online through work.

  15. SPS says:

ehh, maybe I’ll be impressed after I actually lay hands on one.

  16. Jim says:

May buy the 3G model for travel. Last trip I only took my iPod touch and got everything done that I had to do. With the larger screen I may be able to do a few of the things I needed to do.

  17. SteveB says:

Damn skippy I’m going to buy an iPad. The only negative to it right now is that you can’t buy one yet! I am so looking forward to being able to use something larger than my iPhone to browse the internet on my couch while watching TV.

  18. Chris says:

The iPad’s pretty cool. Can’t afford one now though because I just recently got my MBP. Will likely wait a while to get one.

  19. Johann Smith says:

I will get one and ship it over. My 2 year old loves my iphone so this would be even better. 🙂

  20. annonuem says:

For portable Work my MacBook is portable enough, I prefer buying an iPhone, but I don’t want that f****ing T-Mobile contract.

  21. John says:

I like it, but I would only get one (for my wife) if it had built in web cam for video chatting. I also think it’s a bummer that it won’t run flash (even though I personally don’t care for flash). I think it’s hard to have the ultimate web experience when I can’t view a lot of stuff because it’s flash.

So, no. I’m not getting one.

  22. Aren’t we all gonna end up with one?!
Agreed, there are features missing, agreed, it has no camera…
But common… It’s got an Apple Logo at the backside…

  23. Rodney says:

I’m going to get one and use it as a huge iPod and get some huge headphones to go with it.

  24. David says:

Reserved for the moment. Would like to see how it handles books. Will it be just another ebook reader like the Kindle or will they change how we read and interact with books.

  25. Carpe_Diem_Rj says:

    This is for me!!!!

  26. Esteban says:

It will depend a lot on how it evolves, and on how it handles e-books. For some reason I feel nothing can substitute good old paper.

  27. Rick Nunn says:

I honestly didn’t think I’d hear myself say this, but I am considering getting one. BUT! If it will support the download of RAW files from my camera then I am totally getting one.

  28. Jeff says:

Nope. Not gonna buy the large “iTouch”. Not enough new features.

  29. Dick Nick says:

yes, depending on peripherals and accessories available

  30. Ariel says:

iPad… sounds really useful, especially on the clinical rounds in med school..
I’ll maybe buy it, depends on when it’s going to arrive at my country.

  31. Chris Stone says:

    Can’t see buying a 9″ iPhone.

  32. Gabe says:

Awesome… can’t wait to get me one of those.

  33. Noah Grove says:

not really excited about the iPad, mostly because, I am not convinced that it’s anything that I need. so no, I won’t be buying one

  34. Gw says:

its not for me. the fact that it is not a computer on its own is quite dissapointing. It would easily suit people as a first computer for emails and surfing, but it requires itunes, etc, to set up.

  35. Kelly A says:

I will eventually but not the first generation.

  36. Tim says:

Probably won’t buy one. It is pretty cool but time will tell on how useful it is.

  37. Michael says:

Yeppers…. the wife actually wants it…

  38. No, I wouldn’t buy an iPad. When I heard Apple was releasing a tablet in the fit of rumors spewed out over the last couple of years I was expecting something more similar to the Modbook. What Apple released was pretty much a modern Newton. Maybe they should have called it NewtonX. But since I have a capable clamshell iBook and an iPhone, I really dont have the need for the iPad.

  39. Brian ALberghini says:

Yup, I’ll buy one. Put it right next to my Mac Classic.
It does have an interface to the Classic doesn’t it?
    9 pin serial right?
    Really It does, doesn’t it?

  40. Gerard says:

It’s great… if you don’t already have an iPhone/iPod touch. But even having one, I’m considering buying an iPad. It’s not a huge revolution, but it’s still a very good product.

  41. Scott says:

It’s kinda cool, but there’s a few things I’d like to see on it before I’d buy one. Camera and multi-tasking definitely. Other carriers besides AT&T would be nice.

  42. dood says:

I think it has a lot of potential, but I won’t buy one until I have a need for it.

  43. Dave says:

I definitely don’t have the money for it and wont buy one till the price goes way down

  44. Biel says:

Yeck yes i will buy it… man that iPad looks soooo awesome… i can’t wait to get mine!

  45. matt says:

    Only if I win this

  46. whitehawk says:

I won’t buy it, I use my Macbook and iPhone for the purposes the iPad tries to compete

  47. davewhipped goliath says:

No I won’t but my work will buy me one since I got to make them work at work hehe My daughter wants the Bamboo so let me win finally doc.

  48. Vince says:

    Yea, baby!

  49. Robert Crosby says:

I Like it but it won’t replace my iPhone 3GS at this stage. Maybe next year.

  50. Claire says:

I won’t buy one, but I guess it’s a nice first step. They can only make it better at this point…
