“The 12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaway: Day 43 – A set of Audioengine 5N Bamboo speakers!
This contest is closed. Congrats to faithful Macenstein reader Steve.
On the Forty-Third Day After Christmas, Macenstein gave to you (or, more accurately, gave you a chance to win…) A set of A5N Powered Bookshelf Speakers (in BAMBOO!) !
AAARRGGHHH! If only I could enter my own contest! Damnit. Well, one of you lucky bastards is about to be taken on an audio trip to AWESOMETOWN!
I actually have a pair of the white Audio Engine A5’s, and I use them daily in my demolition job to knock down houses. These things are scary loud, and amazingly distortion free, even at ear-bleeding levels. And you’re actually getting the cooler, more expensive version of the A5’s, the Eco-friendly, $450 Bamboo model. God, I hate you.
Audioengine 5N (A5N) – All of the simple but useful features and same signature sound of the award-winning A5 wrapped in rock solid and beautifully hand-finished bamboo.
Bamboo is an excellent alternative to hardwoods and the dark bamboo used for the Audioengine A5N cabinets is not a stain, but achieved through a specialized heating process. As the wood is pressure heated, the sugar compounds inside the bamboo are “carbonized” which in turn darkens the bamboo to a rich caramel color. Awesome sound, great looks, eco-friendly, and panda-safe.
Above: That AC outlet is PERFECT for hooking up an AirPort express and blasting tunes from your home computer (via the remote app on your iPhone/iPod touch, of course!)A5N Eco-friendly features:
Made from renewable and sustainable solid bamboo – no veneers
No stains or paint used – naturally “carbonized” finish sealed with hand-rubbed water-based satin polyurethane
Other green facts and features:Audioengine products are now 100% lead-free and meet the EU’s RoHS initiative
All speaker cabinet materials use environmentally-friendly binders and resins
Formaldehyde-free adhesives are used in our cabinet assembly
All Audioengine products meet ENERGY STAR requirements in standby
Limited use of plastics in our products
Easy-to-recycle packaging
To enter: Since obviously you will annoy your neighbors (and THEIR neighbors) with the A5’s, we’re wondering, What’s the ONE THING you find most annoying/rude about other people? Winners will be picked randomly 7 days later and notified (kind of like in The Ring, only with less killing… we hope). Open to US readers only. Good luck, and thanks for reading Macenstein! (Oh, and be sure to enter ALL our “12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaways!)
Please note: Comments may take a while to show up, please do not double-post. Thanks!
People that are always late.
What annoys me the most is people that won’t think for themselves. They often ask other people instead of simply searching for the information they need.
People that snap their gum. Loudly and often.
People who like to boast about their newest purchase.
PS: Did I tell you about my new Nexus One?
People that ‘try’ to drive and talk on their cell phones.
That they’re selfish
Not being me!
people that waste food
When people go on and on when they’re trying to get their point across. How about some brevity with those thoughts people?
Bad driving
Sneezing and not covering their face.
You know, you know…..
Bad manners. Self-centeredness
Their lack of driving ability. How hard is it to get to 50 mph in a 50 mph zone?
Smokers, drunks, people who talk loudly in libraries, cell phone use in inappropriate places, people who fidget during orchestral performances, stupid cellphone ring tones, Republicans, TV commercials, all rate highly. So I’d have to say:
Drunk Republican smokers who talk loudly into cellphones in the cinema, while waving their hands.
Chewing with your mouth open…
People that are stupid. I can’t stand ’em
People who are used to talk too loud.
Gluttonous sounds while eating. Large gulping, slurping, sucking noises, chewing with your mouth open (mostly applies to people who don’t seem to realize gum also has the same annoying effect), and unrelated to food but in the category of the mouth – extraneous kissing noises. Leave that shit to poorly chosen movie sound effects.
Too many things.
Today, I found dog s*t in my lawn. F*g neighbors who don’t pick up after their f*g dogs.
young workers who expect unaccountability and a free ride
Clearly not thinking – or maybe just not caring – about how what they are doing affects other people.
social networking in public.
Everything annoys me.
Lateness/disrespect for other people’s time.
People who ask for advice, then don’t follow it, and later act amazed about what happened as if no one ever told them. They also usually don’t remember that you told them not to do it.
Stinky people
People that play crappy music on their headphones, extremely loud so everyone around them hears it, and then they just happen to sit next to me on the bus. I hate those people.
If I had these speakers, I could get some payback on said people. Now that I think about it, I NEED these speakers.
whispering in the library. whispers are actually really loud and hissy.
noisy people at the movies
Since I’m commenting from VA, that guy at the end of the pipestem (extended shared private driveway) who won’t help shovel the snow but doesn’t have a problem driving after you get it done.
I even annoy myself.
Stupidity.
I can’t stand when people stubbornly refuse to change their actions or views when presented when _objectively_ superior facts.
(I’m not talking about strong evidence. I’m talking about _proof_. Thus, I’m not specifically referring to anything political.)
ignorant people that like to stay ignorant
I hate when people are late appointments all of the time
People who don’t immediately appreciate my gravitas…
Eating and chewing with their mouth open.
people who are totally inconsiderate to those around them in any way – that should cover 80% of things that annoy me
pushing their ways through doors at resturants and stores not acknowledging you and when you hold the door for their rudeness they dont even give you a thank you
when people try to stand out by being disruptive.
People who repeat something they heard as a fact without bothering to actually find out if it’s true or not.
Driving all crazy
I don’t hate on smokers or anything, even though I’m not the biggest fan of the smoke itself – but I hate it when they throw their friggen butts all over the street – it adds up and litter is latter. damn. now I need some nice speakers to help me relax.
ignorance
CUTTERS!!! Come on people, we are adults now…Right? I have to wait in line to pick my daughter up from school just like everyone else, but some people feel they are too good for that. A couple of people every day drive on the wrong side of the lane to get to the front and then cut in front of others. Not sure if I hate them more than the spineless idiots that actually allow it though. That, and liars…
I hate the way other people drive!!! Hate it!
I’m going to single out my neighbor, who plays death metal on his bass rig all day at concert volume. He is my current symbol of human indifference to others’.
I hope to win these A5s to return the favor…
– Driving while on cell phone or texting
– People slamming their apartment doors
– People subscribed to a newspaper but does not read it so they let it pile-up on their doorstep
That I have to share resources with them. Like air. How inconsiderate.
