“The 12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaway: Day 43 – A set of Audioengine 5N Bamboo speakers!
This contest is closed. Congrats to faithful Macenstein reader Steve.
On the Forty-Third Day After Christmas, Macenstein gave to you (or, more accurately, gave you a chance to win…) A set of A5N Powered Bookshelf Speakers (in BAMBOO!) !
AAARRGGHHH! If only I could enter my own contest! Damnit. Well, one of you lucky bastards is about to be taken on an audio trip to AWESOMETOWN!
I actually have a pair of the white Audio Engine A5’s, and I use them daily in my demolition job to knock down houses. These things are scary loud, and amazingly distortion free, even at ear-bleeding levels. And you’re actually getting the cooler, more expensive version of the A5’s, the Eco-friendly, $450 Bamboo model. God, I hate you.
Audioengine 5N (A5N) – All of the simple but useful features and same signature sound of the award-winning A5 wrapped in rock solid and beautifully hand-finished bamboo.
Bamboo is an excellent alternative to hardwoods and the dark bamboo used for the Audioengine A5N cabinets is not a stain, but achieved through a specialized heating process. As the wood is pressure heated, the sugar compounds inside the bamboo are “carbonized” which in turn darkens the bamboo to a rich caramel color. Awesome sound, great looks, eco-friendly, and panda-safe.
Above: That AC outlet is PERFECT for hooking up an AirPort express and blasting tunes from your home computer (via the remote app on your iPhone/iPod touch, of course!)A5N Eco-friendly features:
Made from renewable and sustainable solid bamboo – no veneers
No stains or paint used – naturally “carbonized” finish sealed with hand-rubbed water-based satin polyurethane
Other green facts and features:Audioengine products are now 100% lead-free and meet the EU’s RoHS initiative
All speaker cabinet materials use environmentally-friendly binders and resins
Formaldehyde-free adhesives are used in our cabinet assembly
All Audioengine products meet ENERGY STAR requirements in standby
Limited use of plastics in our products
Easy-to-recycle packaging
To enter: Since obviously you will annoy your neighbors (and THEIR neighbors) with the A5’s, we’re wondering, What’s the ONE THING you find most annoying/rude about other people? Winners will be picked randomly 7 days later and notified (kind of like in The Ring, only with less killing… we hope). Open to US readers only. Good luck, and thanks for reading Macenstein! (Oh, and be sure to enter ALL our “12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaways!)
Please note: Comments may take a while to show up, please do not double-post. Thanks!
I have to say with the number of stupid and rude people out there it is hard to narrow down the list to just one. So here are a few that get under my skin.
– At work when people do not get of the phone to buy their tickets or food.
– Bad drivers, especially those who do too many things while driving (Texting, Eating food, Digging around in the car and not looking forward…)
– People who blame you for things that you have no control over (this happens mostly at work for me).
– People who assume that they are right no matter what evidence you tell them to the contrary.
My list could go on for a while, but these are some that popped into my head. 🙂
I find it most annoying when people come to the Emergency Department of my hospital for a toothache, especially when they call for an ambulance to take them there, at 3 in the morning! and then they expect a ride home!
stupidity
Always being late!!! And what makes it worse is when you know you are always late and you dont care!
People who aren’t considerate to others around them. You don’t have to like me, just don’t piss me off!
Stupidity
People who constantly sigh is in my office just to bring attention to themselves. Not just every once in a while but constantly throughout the day.
LOUDNESS.
Body odor!
I can’t stand the constant complaining of some people.
not keeping promises.
Bad driving!
I hate it when people get lost.
Over achievers. I hate over achievers! They just suck so much and are no fun at all.
the most annoying thing is those that lack common sence.
People who talk like they know something.
Lack of courtesy to retail workers… seriously, you think those poor folks made the return policy up… get over it!
The most annoying thing about other people has to be their tendency to win contests I’m entered in. I mean, c’mon! I’ve never won a raffle or drawing in my life! Throw me a bone, luck!
Greed
When they just walk too damn slowly and get in my way.
People who overreact, almost always in a negative way, to little hiccups in life. I don’t mind emotion, but overreaction to things which are not life-altering or even mildly disruptive really tees me off!
The self absorbed, which seems to be most of the people I encounter anymore. Everything is about how it affects them. They will cut in front of you to get the sugar at the coffee bar, stop to talk to friends in the middle of the sidewalk, leaving no room to get around, driving slow in the fast lane… I could go on for a while, so I will leave it at that.
I would love to see a little more common courtesy for one’s fellow human being!
they don’t know when to shut up!
When people assume that just because I know about X (knowledge I’ve gotten through hard work and effort) I should have no problem solving their problem with X for free because “it will only take a few minutes”.
It makes me get all stabby!
Chewing and cracking gum loudly. Makes me want to take an icepick to either my own ears or theirs.
off the top of my head i thing THE one thing that annoys me is hypocracy
my neighbors that have so many damn cars they fill up the street in front of their house, my house, the other side of the street … how many cars do they need?!?!?
Oh, and if I win, i’ll take your white ones to match my other apple gear and you can have the bamboo 😀
Mean people suck.
Incompetence.
Stupidity.
What annoys me more then anything is else is people talking on their cell phones about things I don’t need to know about. I don’t need to know that your man cheated on you with his step sister.
I don’t like people with attitude who are clearly doing something annoying to those around them – obnoxious behavior, yelling, whatever – and then act innocent when someone else shows annoyance at their behavior.
People who leave their grocery carts in the parking lot.
anyone reading over my shoulder
False sincerity (Hi!! I’m so glad to see you!! – NOT!)
People that talk a lot.
People that don’t say “bless you” when you sneeze.
I hate it when people take one last, big drag off their cigarette and then walk into the resterant and blow the smoke out as they walk through the no smoking area. GAG
Their existence.
nosy people who chew with their mouths open
When people dismiss new things without giving them a chance or having any knowledge pertaining to them.
Nice speakers!
I just hate it when a friend gets food with alot of garlic and then forgets the bag in the car. Whole car then reaks of garlic.
that was for you, Matu!
non hands free talking cell phone drivers, and texters….
When they second guess you on something you know significantly more about than they do.
People who chew with their mouth open.
When people interrupt each other.
I find it annoying when someone keeps entering these contests and never wins.
I hate cyclists that demand that everyone share the road, but then ignore the laws themselves. “Same road, same rights?” Then how about “same road, same rules.” Eat tire-iron Quicksilver.
Humans… the end.
I think it’s annoying when people suck their teeth
