“The 12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaway: Day 43 – A set of Audioengine 5N Bamboo speakers!

This contest is closed. Congrats to faithful Macenstein reader Steve.

On the Forty-Third Day After Christmas, Macenstein gave to you (or, more accurately, gave you a chance to win…) A set of A5N Powered Bookshelf Speakers (in BAMBOO!) !

AAARRGGHHH! If only I could enter my own contest! Damnit. Well, one of you lucky bastards is about to be taken on an audio trip to AWESOMETOWN!

I actually have a pair of the white Audio Engine A5’s, and I use them daily in my demolition job to knock down houses. These things are scary loud, and amazingly distortion free, even at ear-bleeding levels. And you’re actually getting the cooler, more expensive version of the A5’s, the Eco-friendly, $450 Bamboo model. God, I hate you.

Audioengine 5N (A5N) – All of the simple but useful features and same signature sound of the award-winning A5 wrapped in rock solid and beautifully hand-finished bamboo.

Bamboo is an excellent alternative to hardwoods and the dark bamboo used for the Audioengine A5N cabinets is not a stain, but achieved through a specialized heating process. As the wood is pressure heated, the sugar compounds inside the bamboo are “carbonized” which in turn darkens the bamboo to a rich caramel color. Awesome sound, great looks, eco-friendly, and panda-safe.

Above: That AC outlet is PERFECT for hooking up an AirPort express and blasting tunes from your home computer (via the remote app on your iPhone/iPod touch, of course!)

A5N Eco-friendly features:

Made from renewable and sustainable solid bamboo – no veneers
No stains or paint used – naturally “carbonized” finish sealed with hand-rubbed water-based satin polyurethane
Other green facts and features:

Audioengine products are now 100% lead-free and meet the EU’s RoHS initiative
All speaker cabinet materials use environmentally-friendly binders and resins
Formaldehyde-free adhesives are used in our cabinet assembly
All Audioengine products meet ENERGY STAR requirements in standby
Limited use of plastics in our products
Easy-to-recycle packaging

To enter: Since obviously you will annoy your neighbors (and THEIR neighbors) with the A5’s, we’re wondering, What’s the ONE THING you find most annoying/rude about other people? Winners will be picked randomly 7 days later and notified (kind of like in The Ring, only with less killing… we hope). Open to US readers only. Good luck, and thanks for reading Macenstein! (Oh, and be sure to enter ALL our “12 Days AFTER Christmas” Giveaways!)
Please note: Comments may take a while to show up, please do not double-post. Thanks!

…people who absolutely KNOW things that just aren’t true…

  6. Ryan H says:

People who walk around on the street playing music from their cellphones using the speakerphone speakers. I am oh-so tempted to trip you every time we pass…

Listening to BAD music with BAD cellphone speakers on a bus

  9. Andy says:

Accusing me of something bad that I didn’t do.

  10. Wade Smith says:

Sartre said- Hell is other people. That makes hell right here, especially in a city. And one thing that’s especially irksome is when couples or groups congregate at corners, or in front of a doorway. Having to say ‘excuse me’ is a bore.

  11. David says:

People that, without actually knowing the facts, assume they do and spread incorrect “facts” around.

Oh look, you’ve decide against a toaster pastry purchase afterall and slowly (and without purpose) waddle away to cause more stress in strangers. Arrrrggghhh!

Acting like they are so much better than you are.

  21. Terry says:

Inconsiderate people that don’t bother looking behind them when walking through a doorway. I guess they feel letting the door slam into the face of whoever is behind them is their right. God bless them.

  22. J McLain says:

When they are not listening to you but are pretending to be.

  23. Rob Schultz says:

The thing I find most rude about people is in fact about a specific group of people. I’ve lived in my apartment for 3+ years and just recently received a noise complaint. The downstairs neighbor stated that I was playing obnoxious music at a loud volume from 6:30 – 10pm. Funny enough, I was home, playing chill music with my brand new AudioEngine A2 while catching up on some office work. To add to the humor, the same neighbors are now playing Rock Band turned up to 11. If only I had the A5s to show them what loud really was…

  24. SB says:

Pretentiousness annoys me to no end.

  25. Steve Marouchoc says:

I find it REALLY annoying that none of my neighbors have bothered to learn ANYTHING about wireless networking before turning on their wireless. All are running on channel 6, all are using default SSID’s, all are totally open. I sure hope they don’t have important personal info on their computers. . .

  26. John Gill says:

When people come over to my place or workspace and start picking up and examining my stuff…like they’re at a touch and feel museum.

  27. Mike says:

    The music that they play!

  28. Greg says:

people who stare at you while your trying to eat a meal. ?

  38. Michael Webb says:

People that ask your opinion (or for information) and then decide to call someone else anyway to get better information, like they don’t trust you. They also waste your time by asking an opinion that they have no intention of even listening to.

  39. Clarence says:

i hate when people misquote movies i love.

  40. Henry says:

I hate people that hate the things I like.

  41. Annoying? After stupidity and idiocy? People that don’t update their technology, no matter what it is, and wonder why things go wrong. They’re called updates for a reason, and people create them for free. Why wouldn’t you update things? Ugh.
