The first big screen movie I remember seeing was at the drive-in. It was a double feature: She with Ursula Andres followed by Day of the Trifids (spoiler: salt water destroys trifids).

  2. Mitch Preston says:

The first movie I remember going to see was Toy Story.

  3. GlowingApple says:

I actually can’t remember. I want to say it was either Bambi or E.T., but they might have been rentals from Blockbuster.

  4. Bob says:

WarGames from back in 1983. First movie that I paid for to go back and watch again.

  5. Matt N. says:

Blazing Saddles at the Drive-In. It warped me for life.

  6. Michael says:

    last Emperor

  7. Oscar VM says:

I think it was Peter Pan. I was a little kid back then

  8. Jon says:

White Fang. I remember being extremely scared during the intense scenes.

  9. Melvyn says:

It has to be Titanic. Who can ever forget the blockbuster then, more than 3 hours (unheard of!) of big ship and Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet?

  10. Travis Schiebel says:

The very first Star Wars on the hood of a 1968 Chev Nova… with my dad

  11. Skip says:

Wow…as a kid in my hometown the theater used to have matinees for kids on Saturdays for 5 cents! I can’t remember the first one but it was always fun to go!

    Return of the Jedi

  24. Gina says:

I think the first movie I actually remember seeing was Home Alone 2

  25. Grant Wall says:

My memory is already starting to fail me, which is a scary thing, but the movie I remember seeing last in a theatre would probably have to be The Matrix.

I’m sure i saw many more as a kid, but, none of them were all too memorable it would seem.

  26. Bill says:

    The Shaggy Dog

  27. JoeBin says:

    Toy Story

  29. Colin says:

Jurassic Park…I’m sure I saw something before that but nothing prepared me better for life: xkcd.com/87

  30. Vince says:

    JAWS!

  31. Chris says:

Let see…. Probably Disney, and most likely something lame like The Little Mermaid. Thanks for making me sad in my heart…. That is one cool looking video dock.

  32. Alexis says:

The oldest movie I can remember is the first Blade. Had to cheat to get into the theater, wasn’t old enough.

  33. Josh says:

    Star Wars

1st night it played. Waited in line for hours. For an 8 year old it didn’t get any better.

  34. Hmm, I have a clear memory of seeing Ghostbusters II on the big screen and I am pretty sure it was one of the first. I would have to check IMDB, but I also remember seeing BTTF 2 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade too. Whichever one of those came out firs, that was my first.

Before finishing this comment, i did some research. It looks like it was either Indy 3 or Ghostbusters II. My vote is with Ghostbusters.

  35. Bryan Oakley says:

    Fox & Hound (Disney) @ a drive-in

    Back to the Future 2

  43. Bitmatt says:

Original Star Wars before they screwed it all up with your fancy computers.

The Angel Levine With Zero Mostel & Harry Belafonte. Released in 1970. This film was shot at the Filmways Studio in The Bronx. My dad was the stand in (the guy that stands there while they focus the lights and set up the shot) for Zero Mostel. I visited the set one day and got to meet both Zero Mostel & Harry Belafonte. 40+ years later that’s still one of the highlights of my life.

  49. Corinne says:

I think it was Liar Liar. I was a kid and loved it.

  50. Tyler Wall says:
