How to: Stop iPhoto from opening every time you sync your iPhone
EDIT: Check out the comments for an even better, smarter way to do this provided by faithful Macenstein reader Anonymoose .
Faithful Macenstein reader Kelly writes: “Hey, do you know if there’s a way to stop iPhoto from launching every time I sync my iPhone? Just got it, and find it very annoying, thanks!”
Well, sure there is, and it’s actually as easy as:
1: Open iPhoto
2: go to iPhoto> Preferences
3: Click GENERAL SETTINGS and from the “Connecting Camera Opens” dropdown, choose “NO APPLICATION”.
Done.
Ah, but what if you have a camera that you DO want to launch iPhoto when connected?
You can manage your devices in Image Capture. I have my iPhone set to “do nothing” and my Canon set to launch iPhoto.
Ahhh… even better.
Ignore my lame post. Do what HE said.

Cool! At first I was all like…DUH, but then came Anonymoose and I was all like…COOL. Thanks Anonymoose. I can’t say I have ever even opened Image Capture before. Been using Macs for 20 years or so and what do ya know…You learn something new every day.
Thank you!!!!
Out of the top ten sites returned you were the first with the correct answer for me.
Image Capture does not have Preferences in my drop down , not to mention the cleanest with best graphics.
Your site is now bookmarked on my FrankenMac and I have put my pitchfork away!
