I think your chances of success depend on how many rare(r) dragons you have. This is just speculation though; I don’t have much information yet.
I got it with chrome and scorch and since those two dragons have really short breeding times I got it really quickly. I recommend this combo

The best combo i ever hit was Metal with Fire ! second try with Epic Breeding Island.But i’ve been reading through combos and Metal with Fire is also possible in the Breeding Cave !

Metal and fire? I’ve been trying that and it’s not working. I don’t have a chrome dragon so I can’t do chrome and scorch. I just got 48 hrs with blufire and iron. What is this? I tried to use a fire element dragon and a metal element dragon since my metal is in the colosseum right now.
That’s four separate elements so it could be rainbow, it has metal and fire which are apparently what’s required for gold, not sure if it hits the right combos for sun/moon. Somebody else can probably tell you that. 🙂 Either way, 48hrs is always something good!

I have like 5 rainbows and 4 sun dragons and no moon dragons lolk
No moon dragons, but a blue moon, bronze olypus, etc.
And then i got 48 hrs again for reindeer plus firework. There i was just breeding rare dragons with each other.
No rainbow, sun, moon, or gold. It’s silver.
I have waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy toooooooo many rainbow dragons now I have one in the incubator and I already have like 5 so + 1 = 6

I’m pretty sure you got a smoke dragon and I think you should have another rare dragon egg in the incubator to increase chances of getting it that’s how I got my bronze olimpus from breeding the ruby dragon like 5 monthes ago
My bro got a sun dragon randomly thinking it was a cactus dragon. I got an ash dragon thinking it was a cactus dragon.

Got a 48 hour breeding time in the Epic Breeding Sanctuary with level 15 Brass and level 15 Forge. Pretty sure it’s a Gold Dragon, right? I have been trying for one for ages, fingers crossed for a gold!

Well if you bred one of the possible combos for the Gold Dragon and it’s 48 hours , you most likly got the dragon you wanted. GOOD LUCK 🙂

RARE AND EPIC:just did metal and air and got a 48 hr time! I think it is rainbow. Any other ideas what it is?
