Is it possible to breed more than 2 gem dragons per month. I was only able to get 2 Sapphire Dragons and I wanted an extra egg for display. MAC Do you know if it is possible to breed more than 2 gemstone dragons per month? Thanks

Yep. I always try to get at least 3. 1 to display the egg and 2 for the islands. I will eventually have to start storing them but I’ve gotten I think 4 one month

I managed to get three sapphires and one egg to display. Didn’t have the same luck with peridot- couldn’t get more than one.
well with paper, blue moon and equinox all in september they should have made it more easy to get. I guess I will keep trying, gonna buy some gems. I will let you know if i can get more than 2. Thanks and i am ready for Octobers dragon, you think bone dragon will be back?
Sorry, this is off topic, but you can breed an Equinox Dragon with a Blue Moon Dragon or a Solstice Dragon, and the result can be a Solstice, Blue Moon, or Equinox, even though they are all expired!

Dude breed your two sapphire dragons together… Even tho the month is over u can still do that and get a sapphire dragon… I did that with my equinox dragon hopping to get a sun or a moon dragon and I got another equinox and the time limit to get the equinox dragon was over by like a day or so

Same here. Tried all month and ended up with several more, Rain, Mountain, Fog and Mud Dragons and an Ice Dragon 🙁 Breeding at different time of day and night didn’t help, either 🙁

Yep I got loads of ice snow mountain rain fog got a gold dragon from it too (or might of been when i was aiming for equinox didn’t get one of them either grrr)

Wiki says it is crystal and quake. I personally don’t think it has been released yet.
Crystal and quake won’t work because all gemstone dragons need 4 different elements in the combination. So it can’t be crystal and quake

I noticed that, too- it’s weird, not normal….usually you wake up first day of the month and the new gemstone dragon is there (I am on the East Coast, too). Must be a glitch or something… I still see the sapphire dragon egg for sale, and it should have changed to Opal. P.S. This website rocks for breeding tips!! Thanks, macstein!!!
I tried the ENTIRE month of September and never got a single sapphire!! Totally disappointed! Thi is the second time I’ve tried the whole month and never managed to get a gemstone dragon.
Doc I was wondering if you could answer this, i noticed that Dragonvale released that 250,000 sapphire dragons were bread in sep, why the number was flat even, like there were only a set amount available? And I mean to breed I’m sure it does not apply to buying them, Cus I know from about mid month any of us that hadn’t gotten one could not seem to breed one no matter what, and it just made me wonder about all the ones who breed (not buy)2 an 3 an 4 gemstone dragons if it could be affecting those of us so we can’t get one? I personally bread 84 times from the first day of the month to the last and never got a sapphire. Like I said i was only applying this idea to the gemstone dragons but it is a thought and question I had
I have no inside info on this, but I would doubt there’s any set limit of gemstone dragons per month that everyone needs to split.
I imagine it works completely randomly – like for a gemstone, even if you breed the correct 2 dragons, the game probably then picks a random number between 1 and 70 or something, and if it’s a “17” for example, you get the dragon. If not, you don’t.
Seems the easiest thing to do, programming-wise, and keeps things random.

I got my only sapphire in the middle of the month but the gemstone before that I got at the end of the month.

That’s so odd! I stopped even trying to breed the sapphire because on the Dv Facebook it says it ends yesterday and will be changed today. But people there are still getting sapphire.

I have not tested this out, and I am not sure it is true, but I looked on some other websites, and found that many people mentioned the combination of crystal+quake. As I said, it might not work, but I think this may be a lead.
It’s so cute! But almost every dragon is cute. ^^
I agree- maybe except for iceberg.. I have to have the opal:-)
They are all cute when they are first hatched. I level them up and then fountain of youth them so they stay cute. Lol
I do the same with some dragons, for an example mine dragon. Some dragons looks so majestic, for an example the panlong dragon and rainbow.

My first try to breed, fog left, crystal rt. got 28hrs? If I add the 20% that’s 31 hrs. Hope I got opal. My birthstone.

Olympus is 35 hours and 120% of 28 is 33,6 so i don’t really know… But there’s always hope! 🙂
Your math is off. You don’t restore a 20% subtraction by adding 20% of the lower amount. You restore a 20% subtraction by adding 25%.
80% of 35 = 28
35 = 28 + (.25 x 28)
Also, 80% of 31 is 24.8, so the time we’re all looking for if we have the upgraded breeding habitats is 24 hours, 48 minutes.
I’ll find out in 28 hrs. I don’t have enough gems to buy it. Hope it’s not Olympus since Olympic is done.
i got an Olympic with fog/crystal combo on 1st try so, all i can say is i hope you some how got a diffrent ending than i did. but i do know that is a common pair for the Olympic dragons.
it is olympus. 80% of 31h is 24.8h (31×0.8). and 80% of 35h is 28h (35×0.8).
Your right it’s Olympus. Right now I just breed lava n mud. I got 25 hrs!!!
28 hours on a combo that includes earth, air, and lightning — sounds like an Olympus dragon to me.

Ok so even if it is a Olympus, I think you might be going in the right direction. Opal is in the crystal family so maybe the crystal dragon isn’t far off.
It was Olympus Terin, i tried lava n mud this morning, I got 25 hrs!!!
Just bred the fog/crystal combo to test your theory and got a 28hr dragon. I used rubies to test and it’s a Silver Olympus. Sorry, not an Opal.
I just got the same, but it was a Gold Olympus Dragon.
Someone on DV on fb says he got the opal with a 28 hour upgraded breeding time and gem sped it up and it was the opal. He used fog/crystal.
Well whoever that is, is lying about something. The time for opal will either be 31 in a regular breeding habitat, or 24 hours and change if you have an upgraded habitat.

Just a question. is anyone reading the wiki page for the opal dragon. it is definitely not helping. there is like 10 people all claiming they got it from a different combo. the only thing they have in common is that 9 of the 10 have fire as 1 of four elements. that’s probably just coincidence.
oh and the combo crystal + quake is not it. my brother jail broke his iPod and he has been going nuts trying that combo but it isn’t working. the place that combo came from is a self made “wiki” that has all the other combos wrong that have already passes. pretty much it hasn’t been edited in a while

Yeah, it’s nuts over there. But there might be something to their theory that the auto generated names indicate elements. The generated names for opal are the same ones I’ve seen on scorch, plant, and rain dragons. So I’m trying scorch and pollen. So far, no dice… Only one try though

Well, that’s not going to work, just realized the water element is not present in either dragons. Hmmmm
how do you know the water element is necessary for opal?
I looked it up. 3% to 21% of the total weight is water. So, water and earth are main components of making an opal. Just thought they might use the same logic in the game.
