The 1st Egg is the DragonVale Opal Dragon Egg
I tried blazing and crystal ( thinking maybe fire was necessary because of fire opal) got 24 hour in the reg bred ding cave … It’s gotta be another crystal. Yuck. I’ll have my breeding island open in an hour any suggestions??

I was kinda thinking Flower/Ice (Iceberg) Just based on their hints of colourful and tranparent.

I think it is a Chrome/(Ice type of some sort) combo
Chrome=Color
Ice type (Not Ice Dragon, but an Ice combo): Opal is excavated at cold temperatures
I just got it with Lichen and Plasma
a strategy i would have would be crystal + panlong/sakura/bloom just to try and get one the n narrow it from there
I tried Crystal and Bloom with no luck.
I tried fog and crystal since the description says it can become invinsible, fog, and opal looks like a crystal.
Doc have you tried this ? And are you online, cause you havent even uploaded a photo.

Something with Fog is a good idea. Fog is transparent and has water. Opals have water contents in it.

i did rain and mountain 10 TIMES. Never got the sapphire…

Or is that a typo and you meant 31 hours? 31 should be Opal.
Crsytal and Pollen would be 4 elements, so that could be it.

Are you sure you didn’t get a breed time of 35 hours? I tried crystal and pollen twice and both times got 35 hours which are the Olympus dragons.
35 hrs is the bronze Olympus dragon. So if you got 31 then you got opal I would think
aren’t the four elements water, air, earth and fire? get your literature going!
Wiki says that opals are made of silica. Silica is used to make glass, stone and earthware. It is also used as a insulator in electronics. So perhaps some mix of earth or lightening?
Wow. That is an ugly dragon. I just saw it on in the app as well. I’m trying on my phone, the wife’s and the iPad. Will post results if I get one, too.

Tried its just crystal!!!
Fog & crystal just gave me an Olympus.
Most of the combos seem to be logical. Eg mountain and rain ( I think it was) for sapphire because you find sapphires in the mountains, caves, or whatever. I looked up where opals come from. They come from Australia and are made from silica and water when silica is deposited then ocean water comes and washes over and mixes with it. S I’m thinking earth/rain, earth/water, dodo,water, dodo/rain.. Something along those lines. Just a thought.

In nature, opals are formed from silicon dioxide and water.. since silica is sand, has anyone tried the sandstorm dragon with water or a water combo?

Based on appearance I think it’ll be a combination of lightning earth and metal – so I’ve tried quake/crystal with copper/metal. No luck yet though

I tried fog and panlong and got a breeding time of 29 hours in the epic breeding cave. Hopefully this is the opal.
Fog and flower is a no no . I tried 100 gems.
I tryed pollen n crystal , i got a gold olympus , a bronze olympus and a rainbow !!!
I’ve seen copper and quake on another app. Trying that one now.
I’ll have to try later, that one gave me 6 hours this time around and I’m out of gems.
Still, that one looks worth trying if anyone else wants to give it a go.
seems unlikely, metal is included (too high a level required) and both copper and quake include lightning, which means you would have only 3 elements in the combo not 4

There were only three total elements in the Peridot dragon though – Iightning, earth and plant.
Got 28 on upgraded EBI first try with panlong/cactus… Every color of the spectrum right? Here’s hoping.

why do people on other boards/sites seem so sure that water is included, and that an opposite dragon is a possibility?
Probably because in nature opals are made as silica is rinsed by water through sandstone. The water pools and when it evaporates the silica hardens and makes opals.

Because gemstones have to have four elements. The trick is figuring out the combo of elements.
I don’t think all gemstones do – Peridot was Cactus (plant/lightning) and Crystal (lightning/earth), which is only three total elements.
This is taking the absolute piss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!! My stupid friends list doesn’t work and now I am not able 2 send gems but i am not done there as my habitats is saying that I have exceeded my limit of owning habitats and I am only level 19 if anyone has a solution please tell and I shall award them £1,000,000,000,000,000 and the reason why it is in pounds because I am a 13 yr old asian boy in the UK!!!!!
I hope there’s a combo up soon! I always try to get these gem dragons asap so I don’t have to worry about them the rest of the month lol.

it says it displays all color in spectrum. i tried bloom and panlong since those 2 dragons got all 7 types (except metal) and i got 48 hour breeding time. crap!!! im out of gems! i can’t speed up the breeding! that’s 2 days worth of trying that i will miss!!!

Well, I’m not saying it’s NOT Copper and Quake but after 50 tries I haven’t gotten it, and the failed attempts generally suck aside from Iron.

Are they getting panlongs? Copper is metal at lvl 17. Opal is available at level 14 right?

Got 35 hours on fog and crystal. Can’t wait to see what it is.
35 is Olympus. This one should be 31.

Just tried crystal+rain and crystal+plasma… No opal.
If Backflip uses crystal then they didn’t do much research. Opals form unlike crystal gemstones. Limestone rock is to granite rock like opal is to a crystal gemstone. I wouldn’t put it past them to ignore that though. Dragonvale isn’t there for science I suppose lol.
I don’t recall most of the other gem dragons making a lot of sense.

You may not be far off with lava. According to Wikipedia, “For gemstone use, its natural color is often enhanced by placing thin layers of opal on a darker underlying stone, like basalt.” ..I believe basalt is lava.
Dragonvale Facebook page has people saying they got it with mud and lava. One person posted a picture.

Did anyone try quake and ice? I blew through a tons of gems and that was next on my list, then quake and seaweed.

Hey Doc, Many people are getting it with Copper and Quake, sadly I dont have the Copper dragon yet so I couldn’t confirm that, but if someone could try it would be nice!
