I tried mud/lava. Not it yet and out of gems. Think I’m gonna wait for the Doc to post the combo.
Confirm Mud and lava = opale
Put equinox and blue moon and got 30hrs. Would this be a gem dragon?
Tried this combo twice last week and got 1 blue moon and 1 equinox.
The combination is Mud+Lava. Some other combinations are being reported, but this combination has a very high success rate and I can confirm that this is true. I got it on my first try in the Epic Breeding Island. Good luck.

Mud and lava, got it on my 5th try! 🙂 I used gems to incubate. The egg is light colorful/transparent.

Lava and mud Works. The egg is colourful like blotches of paint. You should try this combo Doc!

I just got Opal with Lava and Mud…
Got one with mud and lava in that order on my second try. DON’T try lava and mud. It takes much, much longer.
Ok if you up grade it’s 25 gems or hours I’m maybe both any way I believe I got from mud level 11 and lava level 15 I’ll tell you guys if its the dragon or not.

Just got 31 hrs! Hatched a new lava from the first attempt and then breed that one with mud.
I got an opal dragon on my first try using lava and mud.
I got Opal my 1st try in my regular breeding cave with Lava & Mud! Thanks everyone!
I have heard that Lava and Mud to breed the Opal Dragon. I have them in the breeding cave, but don’t believe I got it….yet =)

Hi I’m going to start trying to breed the opal dragon tommorow, wish me luck!
Except I know I’m not going to get it. I never do. In August I tried to breed the peridot dragon but I never got it. I tried 30 times I never spent any gems so I had enough gems to buy the breeding island. I never got the peridot dragon nor sapphire. But a few weeks ago I got enough gems to buy the breeding island! With the breeding island I was able to breed an equinox dragon on the second try. And with the blue moon dragon I also got it on the second try.
What I’m trying to say is that you need to get the breeding island. Gives you more rare dragons. Of course you could breed something like the poison dragon there! Breeding island= more chance for getting rare dragons. So this time I might get a gemstone dragon!

Funny, I have an equinox, sapphire, 2 paper and a panlong…. Of the 5 ‘rare’ types, only 1 came from the epic island, the other 4 have come from my standard breeding cave…. And it usually takes me about 15-20 tries for each of these dragons… I have terrible luck and just keep trying.
just keep trying. you never know when you will be the person posting “you got yours on your FIRST TRY!”

I agree with you, Emma. We have no Epic Breeding Island, just the cave, and we tried 20 times to get Sapphire, and never did. Tried all the combos people suggested. Also, never got Equinox in the week you could. Saving gems for Epic Island, and hopefully will get Opal. Good luck,
I actually have better luck getting rare dragons from the breading cave. Not even kidding. It’s all pretty much chance.
