Just be pacient. 29 days to get it. There’s no rush! By the way I got the blue fire dragon today! It’s still an egg but still it took me a while to get it.

You know, I’ve been wondering. Is it possible to breed it on a non-upgraded breeding cave? I’ve been trying so hard last September but didn’t get any. I only have that cave. I don’t have gems for EBI (although I’d want to). I at least want to have 1 gemstone dragon. I got the paper dragon on that same breeding cave so I thought maybe it’s doable. But I’m starting to think that you’d need an upgraded breeding cave, or the EBI in order to get a gemstone dragon :\ Or is the number of gem affecting this one too?

MAC- I have got Opal in both of my games in the EBI, I have not been able to get my second one yet or get one in either the regular breeding cave or the upgraded breeding cave that makes the time quicker. Have you got more than one yet of the Opal. I asked you this earlier but wanted to see if this is possible so early into the Month. Thanks

I keep getting mud dragons. I’ve tried different level mud and lava dragons, level 15, 13, etc. And mixed and matched some that were made younger/smaller (in fountain of youth) and some that weren’t. Does anyone know if the dragon’s level and/or whether they have been made younger makes a difference in breeding?
I really don’t know but I keep getting mud dragons aswell. 9 mud 1 lava.
I don’t think the appearance of the dragon matters, but level seems to matter. With this dragon I find Lava (left) and Mud (right).

I love my first Lava dragon. I always have faith in him. I gemed my first Opal into the hatchery, breed another Lava egg. Ate dinner, and got my 2nd Opal!!
I wonder if Backflip is making it easier to get this one after the flood of limited dragons at the end of September.
Lucky. I’ve tried 15 times and have gotten 9 Muds and 6 Lavas.
OMG YES!!!!! I got Opal, second try, second day of the month!! I used level 10 Lava on the right and level 10 Mud on the left.

I just got my first opal dragon! Mud level 10 on the left and Lava level 10 on the right. Bred this pair at the EBI. I got it after around 10 times trying though. Thanks so much Dr. Macenstein! Love your site!

Ok best way to up your chances in getting this little bugger is to hatch a mud dragon,raise to level 10 breed with lava the SAME DAY you hatched it. This worked for me at least

I’m getting very frustrated with the gem dragons. Tried every day in August for gem dragon, Everyday in September, no gem dragon, breed 4 times already for opal and still nothing. Wish me some luck guys, I need it.
I keep getting mud and lava. All of my dragons are level 10
Finally got Opal on my 7th attempt using Lava (left) and Mud (right) both Level 11 at the Normal Breeding Cave.

So far nothing but Lava,Lava,Lava and Mud after 7 attempts using level 10 to 14 dragons 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 ;-(
When you want to breed a rare dragon, listen to the dragonvale music. When the music stops playing for at least 5 seconds, breed the right dragons together and you’ll get the rare dragon the first try. It has worked for me every time.

Woohoo I now have 3 opal dragons. I used left mud and right lava . When used the other way round it was not working. Ty doc for this site .
Got it third try with level 10 lava left and level 10 mud right on EBI. Both went through fountain of youth.

I don’t have it yet. I never seem to get dragons easily, but I have patience & eventually get most. I have been playing since early July and often, everyday. I got my first Sun Dragon this week. I got my first Rainbow just a month ago, then suddenly got 2 more. Wish I could gift one.
I hope I get Opal soon!
