The 1st Egg is the DragonVale Topaz Dragon Egg
Cactus and firefly works. First try in the EBI I got the topaz. No luck yet with the BC. Good luck!

Love dragon. It’s available in february so I have no clue how he gets those. An while ago he got a leap year dragon!
Probably has two or more and you can breed them at any time to make more
He can get them because he has 2 of each dragon. Breed 2od the same type and then… Go figure

Yes Doc, I love your page and use it constantly so first off Thank You!! But I am ever so curious as to how you always have rare seasonal dragon eggs in your pics with the newest gem dragon?? For example the “Love” dragon egg and “Bloom” dragon eggs above; or the “Reindeer” dragon egg in your pic for the “Ghost” dragon egg? Should we assume that we can in fact breed those dragons out of season or do you have some other trick up your sleeve? I would greatly appreciate it if you could clarify this for me/us… And again, thanks for all your help! I’m a big fan of your work!
If you have 2 of any dragon you can breed them together to get another no matter what time of year.

Just got it! Used a lot of saved up gems though, so it took me a TON of tries in EBI and breeding cave. But hey, at least I got this one. Still sad about my lack of opal…

Me too… I wasted all my gems on opal, even though I was saving up from races and colosseum for the EBI… If I don’t get this one I swear I’m gonna shoot myself!
I have a question doc, why do you always have a photo for the gemstone dragon on the first day of it coming out? Just wondering. Oh and by the way if you have a breeding island, or have enough gems to buy it, breed it at the island, and others, get the island. It boosts your luck by a ton. (Even though I’ve been trying to get a gemstone dragon for a long time at the breeding Island and no luck). ????

This is it. People like to post bogus stuff early on. Other dragons have multiple combos I may not list, but the Monthly Gem dragons only have one combo per month.

How did you get that love and blossom (I think it’s blossom) dragon? A while back you got a leap year dragon. They aren’t available when you get them! How do you do it???

Hey everybody, here’s the thing, gemstone dragons are extremely rare So breed them at a rare island called the epic breeding island. Ok let me say what I mean to say, ok, the breeding island boosts your luck by a lot, so when your try to breed a gemstone dragon you might have a chance to get it. But, when you try breeding it at the breeding CAVE it will be very very extremely unlikely, only if apparently you some how breed it at the cave, your a miracle. So raise gems and save them up to get the breeding island, and good luck!!

yeah i disagree, as long as both breeding things are upgraded or unupgraded, then they have the same chance

I doubt that. The breeding time for topaz is 30 hours.

That’s good. That means you got it.
Just got 2 in a row with Firefly on left and Cactus on Right. One in EBI and other in breeding cave. Tried many times with Cactus on left and Firefly on right but no luck. Don’t know if left and right matter.

This is my very first time trying to breed a gemstone dragon. I don’t have the epic breeding island, just the normal breeding cave. Since im new at this gemstone dragon breeding, then I have a few questions. Please help me figure these out.
1) do I have to have the Epic Breefing Island to get a gem dragon?
2) do I have to buy the gemstone island before I start to breed for a gemstone dragon?
Oh and please add me. I need gemstones, and I’d be happy to give some away..

You don’t have to have the epic breeding island to get gemstone dragons, but I guess it can help. I got both my gemstone dragons in my breeding cave, even though I have the EBI. And as for the gemstone island you do need it to place them cus it’s their habitat 🙂 happy breeding

Just got it! Spent 96 gems incubating and hatching but I can confirm this does work
My cactus dragons name is Rooty and my Firefly is Blaze. I don’t have an upgraded breeding cave or island either. Hope that helps.

Took 9 tries and 45 gems to speed things up but finally got it on EBI
45 gems? So, it will only take your level 10 Topaz 45 weeks to earn its cost back then 😉
Well considering that with a full gem island each gem habitat produces a new gem about 2 days. Then with 6 good gem friends, 6 new gems a day, and knowing the right dragon to put in arena 5 new gems a day. It works out pretty good. Plus when trying to get kairos pieces in the races, I ended up getting a tons of gems and going up 4 levels so now almost level 39

In case anyone was wondering, its 1500 gems to buy an egg. Though im not sure who has that many gems in the first place.

Wow! Got it first try with cactus and firefly!!! When does that ever happen? Thanks Doc!! Plus I finally have my first panlong incubating in the cave. So far November is starting out well. 😉
My friend got a rainbow dragon on his first try… He rubs it in my face every day since. Finally got him to shut up when I got the gold dragon haha!

Got it second try with firefly on left and cactus on the right. Easiest one ever for me! Can anyone tell me what happens after level 35 ?
What works for me: take four “virgin” dragons (ones that have never been breed before), and breed them at the same time on the EBI and in the BC. Like penguins, the dragons you pair up should only be breed with each other for life (or in this case until you get the dragon you want). Don’t use gems if you can avoid it. Be patient and diligent. I rename my dragons to remember who’s breeding with who.
Example:
For the Topaz dragon:
Cactus (named Adams) + Firefly (named Apple) on EBI.
Cactus (named Big) + Firefly (named Blinky) in the breeding cave.
I breed them in this exact way until I get my dragon, usually less than 10 tries.
I’m currently on attempt 2 for both sets.

I’ve tried Cactus and Firefly 43 times before I ran out of gems and have had no luck. I keep getting Ash, Firefly,Cactus and Poison.
Am I doing something wrong??

Does anyone know if its possible to own two of the same gemstone dragons at once by breeding them not buying them?
You can directly breed a gemstone dragon with another gemstone dragon, but its possible to be lucky enough to breed 2 or more of the same gemstone dragon. Hope this answered your question 🙂
