The 1st Egg is the DragonVale DarkRift Dragon Egg
Well we’ll look who finally decided to come. Now that the event is over, lets see what kinds of combos can come from these rift dragons (btw, if you haven’t noticed, the rift dragons have dual light and dark typing. Possible second way of breeding each maybe? LIght rift + dark rift = either one??)

It seems that there is no breeding time for these rift dragons. They hatch in thirty seconds, but in the marketplace they don’t have an incubation time…so maybe they can’t be breed…? So far my two dark rifts have only given me basic light and basic dark dragons and no rift eggs; my light and dark rift combo does the same…I’m starting to think that the only ones you could’ve gotten came from filling up the tines with magic, since the game itself gave you these eggs (in game it said that the rift eggs were ‘created’, suggesting no more than what the wizards give you can be had.) Sun and moon at least have ? as an incubation time, but these two have nothing but description.
I’m hoping my game just needs to update or something, but if this is really how it goes down, then some people may have to choose between a dark rift dragon or a pedestal.

I have a friend on my Dragonvale friends list that has many dark rift dragons and several dark rift eggs on pedestals. Since the challenge only renders 3 rift eggs and 1 egg on a pedestal he had to get them by breeding. Hope that helps.
Did you even checked their gems. They might have bought it
It is possible to get it by breeding 2 dark rifts together, my partner just did it, it came up at 48hrs so he thought it was something else, once he hatched it the time changed to 30 seconds and he was able to display it straight away. After I had used gems to buy 1 to display, hence I’m not very happy!! Lol

Good question. I don’t don’t know. Didn’t check gems. Usually breezing through friends parks and not really paying that much attention. But this friend always had a lot of gems so who knows?

Their is another way to breed this, I did it this morning. you need a mirage and a dark rift to get it. breeding time 48 hours
Just bred two dark rift dragons and got a 48 hour incubation time. WTF?
Same! We got very lucky. We’ve scored either a rainbow, gold, seasonal and a bunch of other rare dragons!!!!!
The only problem is I already have all of those. I was hoping to breed a dark dragon. Had to buy one instead but the incubation time ended up being 13 hours instead of the documented 10. This game is getting really random and annoying.

No… i just sped up the incubation time and I got a rainbow!! That may be my 5th but the more the better! I just bred them together again and got 48 hours once more. I’m counting on getting Gold as i only have 2.

I saw this too. I ended up buying the dark dragon in the market too and the breeding time said 10 hours but then incubation time said 13 hours. I’m also getting dragons I don’t need that take a very long time to hatch. Yes…random outcomes that are very annoying and wasting a lot of time.

I accidentally used my dark rift for a pedestal because it looked the darn same and now I can’t breed anything! Only way to get one is pay 100 bucks! Any other way to breed the dark dragons that you guys know off? I’m fretting here. Lol

From what I can tell thus far you can get all the dark hybrid dragons by also breeding with just the dark dragon. It is available in the market for dragon cash of I think 15 million.
You would think that a normal Light dragon + a Dark Rift would give a Light or a Light Rift, because of the Dark Rifts dual Light/Dark Typing. Does it work that way ingame? If someone could answer Id be very pleased.
to add to that, it would also technically be possible to breed another Dark Rift.
That’s the thing. It’s “supposed” to work based off of logic, but so far there’s been no proof for it yet. Backflip might’ve just blocked them from being bred since they were supposed to be a reward for putting in magic. If you could just breed them normally, then no one would have cared about putting in magic. If you put in magic, you should be rewarded. If not, then you shouldn’t get the same reward as those who did. At least, that’s backflip’s reasoning.
I can state for the record that I bred two Dark Rift dragons and got another Dark Rift. The breeding time was 48 hours but then the egg matured in 30 seconds.

What will happen if you breed a Light Rift Dragon with a Dark Rift Dragon?
Either a basic light, basic dark, light rift, or dark rift. At least that’s what should happen. So far only one person here has been able to breed a rift dragon tho, and im not savvy to the percent chance of getting a rift. Dont think anyone has actually figured it out yet actually.
FYI: Thought I’d throw this out there… You can place light and dark hybrid dragons in other habitats of similar elements. Ie: you can put the meadow dragon that is bred with plant and light in the plant habitat. You can also store the dark rift dragon in the light habitat and it will not go negative in cash flow. Of course I figure this out after I eliminate and store a habitat and use saved gems for the extra bonus habitat. Lol augh Anyway, for anyone trying to figure out how to add these new dragons and they don’t have extra habitats this is another choice.
BTW since when did it take Kairos almost 4 days to replenish to be used again?
Did anybody notice that the max cash in the dark habitat is more than the light?

I saw this too. The dark habitat gives $350,000 whereas the light gives $250,000. Guess which side backflip anticipated winning? As noted by JP the light and dark drift dragons will be leaving soon. As if players who didn’t get them in the challenge would ever be Able to collect that many gems to buy them much less be able to afford to buy them with real cash when the price tag is over 3600 gems. Hate to keep saying I told you so but this is how Hasbro runs their game apps. Sigh…
I don’t think even Doc can afford to buy these dragons on such short notice. Its like they WANT us to get mad and complain.
Dark dragons generate cash more slowly, so their habitat has a higher max. That’s pretty standard across all elements.
Looks like these dragons are leaving on the 20th, but what bothers me now is that Backflip is taking the rift island with them. Seriously? This awesome looking island is gonna be gone too? After all that work of putting in magic, they’re just going to take it away from everyone? I can understand taking the dragons away from the market, but the island? That’s just a really low blow.

I just saw that notice too. Who knows what the madness is behind their methods. I guess it answers what they plan to offer new people just starting out….nada. No more challenges in the future.
Personally, I’m happy to see it go. It’s just taking up space I have to scroll past.
FYI: They are taking the island now. The way they are doing it is through the gifts. The are leaving The Tines Of the Scar as a monument gift and then at the same time removing the island it was on. It’s rather large so make sure you have room for it before you collect that gift.

Well, as the Rift Island appeared by magic at the start of the challenge, I guess it’s only fitting that it should disappear again when the Rift Dragons go. It’s not as if you can do anything with it now anyway.
I bred 2 dark rift dragons together & got 48hr time, when I hatched them out it took 30seconds & was a dark rift, strange!
Looks like I got lucky with a dark rift in the breeding cave just before it ended. Now, here’s my issue. Do I get a third dark rift or do I get the egg, which I don’t have? This is probably gonna be tricky to decide because as of now, I can’t see these rift dragons coming back; the leap year will probably come back before these do. And I’m sure you can’t breed these anymore since they arent available in the market anymore. Sooooo, yeah.
Wow JP, congrats. But hey, won’t you be able to still breed the other two even after expiration? Or was that taken away with the new random breeding rules?
BTW they just automatically remove the extra island used for the challenge. Have an extra dragonvale on another device and when I opened it the island was gone and the gift menu offered the tines as a monument. Just throwing that out there because in comment above I said it was taken after you accept the gift. Either way it’s gone. Lol

I think the answer to your question is YES, if you have two rift,just keep on breeding them til you got another rift… Leap year dragon is long gone but i do still get an egg by breeding leap x leap, rainbow x leap, double x rainbow..etc… What i cant get by those combinations is the celtic which i dont have in my park… Hope that helps…ciao
P.S. i mean yes you can always breed them as long as you have rift dragons…. So go for the egg..

Is there any other way to get either rift dragons? I have the light rift but it’s on a pedistol and it’s driving me nuts that I can’t take it off the stupid pedistol. It’s like literally mocking me. It’s basically saying “haha u have me but you can’t hatch me cuz I’m on a pedistol!” Ugh that irritates me. Plz help!
How do you get a dark rift to begin with? I’m only a level 25 is that why?

The dark and light rift dragons are available for “bring’em” back … I wasn’t playing during the magic event so I never got them … Any idea how to get them now that they are available in the marketplace?
I got light rift by breeding two rainbow dragons, I would assume it works the same for dark rift 🙂
Just try breeding epic dragons, since ithe outcome is always random so you might get one… Youll have a higher chance if you will use epic…
I bred a dark rift with a light dragon, got a rift egg, but it’s incubating for 48 hours? Aren’t they only supposed to incubate for 30 seconds?
The dark AND light rift dragons can be bred by using Mirage and Heat
I got a Dark Rift by breeding Mirage and Heat.
CONFIRMED! You can get a dark rift dragon by breeding a dark dragon and a light rift dragon. Incubation time is forty-eight hours. I did it myself with a level twenty dark and a level nineteen light rift. It takes a lot of tries, but it is possible.
I just bred 3 Dark Rifts in a row. Co-op with my Mirage Level 15 and a friends Dark Rift
So I’m just coming back to the game and I was looking for a Darkrift dragon. To breed and make a regular dark dragon but I missed the event or whatever happened there. During the Bring em Back event I accidentally bred a dark rift using Mirage and Heat (trying for sunstruck). My friend used my dark rift in the coop breeding cave with mirage and now he has a dark rift too! 🙂
