Sonic the Hedgehog, Peggle added to iTunes Games Section
Apple has released 2 new games for (certain) iPods (although for some reason neither is currently showing up in th games section. Click the links below to jump directly there). First up is Peggle, a game somewhat similar to Bust A Move, if you’re familiar. There are 55 levels that must be cleared by shooting out a series of orange pegs, unlocking levels as you go.
Also added is the original Sega Genesis classic Sonic the Hedgehog. The port looks actually quite good, and the de-biggulating process that the game underwent in order to fit the iPod’s screen seems to have worked well. While it seems like a straight port, there are actually a couple new things in this version that I wish the original Sega Genesis game had back when I was 8. First, there are unlimited continues allowed, so you do not need to restart each time. Second, you can save your position at any stage. I guess Apple realizes most of us don’t have enough time (or battery life) to devote to beating a game in one sitting.
Note: You must have an iPod nano (3rd generation), iPod classic, or iPod (5th generation) in order to play these games.
