Schedule your DirecTV DVR from your iPhone
Why? Because you can!
How many times have you been out on the road and suddenly remembered you forgot to set up your DirecTV HR20-700 model DVR to record a Pay Per View event? Probably too many times to count, am I right?
Well, DirecTV hopes I am. Faithful Macenstein reader David Erlich tells us that DirecTV has launched a new mobile site which allows you to set up TV recordings and Pay Per View content on your home DVR from your mobile device, and the site apparently works great on the iPhone.
The system sounds pretty well thought out – if you have multiple DVRs in your home it knows and will ask you which one you’d like to schedule (i.e bedroom, living room, office). You can also search by show title and you will be given a list of available showings. One cool thing, according to David, the site apparently remembers your username, something we’ve not seen many sites do, and something iPhone users will appreciate. The site is still in beta, but we encourage our DirecTV readers to check it out and let us know your thoughts (we’re on the FiOS TV here).
But it doesn’t work with my DirecTV HD Tivo. What’s up with that?
Jonro,
Probably becuase you DO NOT have the HR20 series HD DVR, either the 100 or 700 series. It will only work on these sets for now. Don’t think it’ll ever work for the Tivo, because DirecTV no longer supports new firmware upgrades for the DirecTV HD Tivos.
Call Directv and ask for a new box.
It now works on all DIRECTV DVRs – standard def and hi-def – including the HR21.
It’ll work for Tivo later this year.
This recently stopped working for Safari on iPhone. I now get a message that “your mobile phone browser dose not work on m.directtv.com…”
Doe’s this feature work now?
Just stumbled upon this after looking for Directv scheduling through i.TV app. I can confirm it works well with the iPhone Safari and both the HR21-200 and whatever the SD DVR we have in the bedroom.
