Official: Phonesaber will be rebranded as “Lightsaber Unleashed”, with playable characters, music
Duncan over at TheMacBox.co.uk dropped us a line letting us know that all the drama surrounding the beloved PhoneSaber’s removal and rumored return is finally over.
“The app will have a new name and a whole new look. The new version, Lightsaber Unleashed, will have a strong link to the new multi-platform title Star Wars ®: The Force Unleashedâ„¢, which is out soon. Lightsaber Unleashed will feature exciting characters from this new game as well as vastly improved graphics, sound effects and optional dueling music (which was a popular request).
We are still going to be publishing the application, and it will still be free… we hope users will be able to update their copy of PhoneSaber to the new LightSaber Unleashed when it becomes available through the App Store.”
Sounds great, and the graphics definitely look much improved. My only regret is I miss the word “Phone” being in the title. I know the app will work on the iPod touch as well, but the name “PhoneSaber” was just so ultra geeky that was perfect. Still, it is a small price to pay for dueling music, which should leave no doubt in anyone’s mind as to how geeky we are when using it. Duncan says Lightsaber Unleashed should be available on the App Store “soon”.
Now all we need to know is how to run both the old app (PS) and the new one (LSU) on the same iPhone/Touch?

I’ll bet Lucas Arts paid him to do the new version. If so, good for him! I hope that one day the iPhone has a speaker loud enough to do it justice.
I have a tape adapter in my car and using the app when connected through the car speakers is much more enjoyable than the thing on the bottom of the phone they call a speaker
So this is useful to have, but a farting app is not?
