And then there was porn
[UPDATE 2: Well, looks like Apple finally DID step in and remove the app. Apple PR: “Apple will not distribute applications that contain inappropriate content, such as pornography. The developer of this application added inappropriate content directly from their server after the application had been approved and distributed, and after the developer had subsequently been asked to remove some offensive content. This was a direct violation of the terms of the iPhone Developer Program. The application is no longer available on the App Store”]
[UPDATE: The Hottest girls app has NOT been pulled by Apple. It is currently unavailable on iTunes because the developer pulled it temporarily as they adjust their servers to handle the increased traffic today’s sales have generated. “The Hottest Girls app is temporarily sold out. The server usage is extremely high because of the popularity of this app. Thus, by not distributing the app, we can prevent our servers from crashing. Those who already have the app will still be able to use our app. To answer the question on everyone’s mind: Yes, the topless images will still be there when it is sold again. -ATG dev team”]
Today the iTunes app store became a man, having finally seen its first adult app. Meaning nudity. Meaning boobies.

The app responsible for taking iTunes’ virginity is called “Hottest Girls” ($1.99), an app that until today was merely a bunch of Asian chicks in lingerie. However the app has gone through a massive update, and besides now boasting “You should be happy to know that the new update contains 99% non-Asian images”, it is now the first officially sanctioned iTunes app to contain topless photos.

“We uploaded nude topless pics today. This is the first app to have nudity,” writes Hottest Girls’ developer Allen Leung, in what can only be described as an announcement rivaling the first transmissions from the moon landing in importance.
Of course, along with nudity comes a “stiff” 17+ rating, so all you innocent young teens will have to get your porn the old fashioned way. Free, from millions of sites all over the web.

This is hilarious. I wonder how long before it vanishes off of iTunes?
actually, the app pulls images from a certain web site, which i think is the main reason it was approved. they could have uploaded nudity long ago, why only now?
Well, now there’s parental controls for apps in the latest 3.0 update. So they, Apple, can approve these things now knowing that it’s out of their hands if parents don’t care enough to regulate it.
duh.. ratings support.
iPhone OS 3.0 parental controls… this is the reason behind Apple’s approval for this content… Great marketing move… Apple rocks…
Some men are pathetic.
… and there I thought you would be able to jiggle the boobies with your finger… hmm – good idea for an app tho.
i don´t mind about it
the internet is full of that stuff.
so, what´s new?
the internet with that pix on the iphone? not really.
or, that an app brings the pix on the iphone?
@dave… “there’s an app for that”
what are you wainting for man, start coding it!
MeWobbleYouLongTime you can call it!
I can’t believe they’d put this trash in the App Store. Now, not only will I blow $1.99, but I’ll lose all kinds of productivity wherever I go!
When one has Safari, why pay for an app. Just do a Google Image search at the very least. It is free.
Also, I doubt they got permission from all the sites they get the images from. I can see the copyright holders getting after them and their profit.
Omg, do we have xmas again.
why would anyone buy this ridiculous app? You can just go on safari and type in “hot babes” and get the same result. This has such more potential! FAIL
i can’t believe it. the main reason it was approved
No booby jiggling? Bahhh!
Thank God for ‘Picture Safe’ on the iPhone then.
Has saved me from getting busted with pron on me device many a time ;D
Good for Apple. Let people decide for themselves what apps they want to buy.
I say, if people are dumb enough to pay money for something free (plain old static photo porn), so be it. What this opens up, though (no pun intended), is opportunities for developers to code more advanced, interesting and interactive apps that involve adult content (such as the above-mentioned accelerometer-based boobie-jiggling app). It’s a powerful platform, and now, for better or for worse, the porn industry is now as free as anyone else to take true advantage of it.
Why is this post (on other sites as well) entitled “And then there was porn?” Are pictures of naked girls considered porn? Really? It’s a far cry from simulated sex pictures or video.
Good to know you’ll still have something to do when you don’t have any service….
already pulled! within one hour of this post… nice work
I got this app simply because its sorta fun to have. I mean, ya i can google sexy swimsuits, and topless ladies, but apps make it easier to find. Im not the biggest pervert, but i do enjoy the occasional birthday suit on the female body.
So $1.99 isnt horrible, more then id like to pay but the bottom line this is revolutionary app.
Since 3.0 now has parental controls installed default, you will (hopefully) see more adult apps, or at least ones with more nudity, foul language, and explicit drug content that has been submitted by over 50,000 companies looking for a quick buck.
Very glad your app has been cancelled… like the world needs this?

The app has disappeared from iTunes. Gone as now.
who is the chick on the upper right with the fake tits and the great eyes? (pic #1 with the black stripes)
This was not pornography.
Check out a dictionary, then read every Supreme Court case addressing the topic, then learn how to comment intelligently.
Our rights to post comments on this very page are the same rights that are trampled upon when so-called “moral judgments” of the Christian majority overtake the secular right to free speech.
For those posters above who need a distillation of these principals: your right to say that this is low-quality, offensive entertainment does not trump my right to partake in and enjoy the same entertainment.
If the laws reflected your take on this issue, we would be living in 1984. Oh, wait…we are well on our way.

iPhone and app store are two of the very few new media that have not seen porn at the avante garde position (that’s forward, not a position from the Kama Sutra). The only surprising thing is that it took so long. You can judge if you want but the adult business drove web commerce back in the day.
This should be removed until copy righted material is NOT in the app. There are images from next door Nicky and such.
So, naked pictures of girls are Porn now? hmm~~~~
why does it not surprise me that BOOBS get 29 comments.
make that 30 😀
Well, it’s gone from the app store. I guess Apple finally got word of it.
Bravo! Or Brava! Now, let’s get some REAL porn there.
^_*
christ.. why would you pay $1.19 AUS to get an APP that has a collection of images with some boobs..
google.com
safesearch off
image mode search: ‘boobs’
enjoy..
perverts.. either they are running on dialup or they are making a fortune with this little App..
Too bad all the photos were pirated. If they look familiar, you know why. Maybe Apple wanted to avoid lawsuits for copyright infringement…???
We blame China for piracy, but check out cr(app) like this!
the virtual time!!!
you don’ even have to touch yourself to masturbate just shake your I phone!!!
and you paid for that, what a fun!
It’s good to see people trying to pull a fast one on Apple and push the 17+ app limits. There’s already so many adult sites optimized for the iPhone and iPod Touch, I don’t see why a lame softcore app should get such coverage. http://pureiporn.com is the best I’ve found, way better than some titty pics!
LOLOL!! WTF is this app used for anyways, even if you want some A rated content, what’s more perfect than the inbuilt browser
