“I’m so mad, I could pop a 9mm at it.”

Donald Goodrich
A Man, an iPhone, and a Gun. A love story.

A Cincinnati man is under arrest tonight after allegedly showing an Apple Store employee a handgun and claiming he was so fed up with his iPhone that he would “pop a 9mm at it,” right in the store.

From WCPO TV:

According court records, Donald Goodrich, 38, of Westwood, was frustrated his iPhone was not working properly. He told the employee he was, “So mad, I could pop a 9mm at it.” The employee allegedly told Goodrich there was no need for that, then Goodrich allegedly told the employee, “I’ll do it right now. Look!”
Goodrich then allegedly opened the right side of his shirt, displaying a black, 9mm handgun.
The employee told Goodrich she’d get his phone fixed and walked him over to a technician in the store, then told her manager, who called police. Goodrich had a concealed weapon permit.

I’m sure someone out there will attempt to put a negative spin on this story, but I prefer to think of it as some of the best publicity Apple could hope for. After all, there is no way this man could have felt as hurt and betrayed by his iPhone’s behavior if he did not care for it… and dare I say… love…it? I mean, Elvis loved TV, and he shot them all the time.

i’d hate to see what he’d do if he had a windows mobile phone..

  2. Rowlings says:

I’m not saying he’s guilty, but there’s something about a shaved head that I feel works against you in court…

  3. Darwin says:

It’s called brandishing and is illegal.

“Goodrich had a concealed weapon permit.” I love this bit. like that makes it ok in a modern civilized society to be carrying a around a weapon designed for the sole purpose of killing human beings.

Glad I don’t live in America.

  5. Mark says:

Why do you Americans feel the need to carry guns? The rest of the world can’t work this aspect of USA culture out.

    Mark – Australia

  6. Matthew says:

Since 3.1, I’ve had exactly the same feelings about my iPhone…. Still, no need to shoot mine, it’s already almost dead.

  7. Some1 says:

at least apple has a place people can go and get their issues sorted with apple products, imagine nokia and other places u gotta go phone shops and talk to sales people instead of proper technician …

  8. Zorin says:

Moron. Absolute complete moron, making all concealed carry holders look bad.

I hope his permit is revoked permanently. We don’t need nutjobs like this giving lawful, responsible gun owners more bad press.

  9. Kelly says:

Some people look like a nut, and some people act like a nut. This guy has been doubly blessed. Whoa!

Zorin: “Moron. Absolute complete moron, making all concealed carry holders look bad.”

Umm, how do you make people that are so insecure and paranoid that they need to carry around hidden lethal arms look good ?

  11. Teegan says:

@Mark Most Americans don’t walk around with a gun at their hip. The rest of the world carries more guns than Americans do.

I have to say, this guy is retarded. It’s called CONCEALED carry for a reason! You don’t whip your gun out when ever you get a little pissy….dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.
I agree with Zorin – revoke it!

  12. Dave-O says:

Still makes that Apple Store about 100x safer than a healthcare rally.

  13. Jonathan says:

Okay, that guy so reminded me of someone, it kept bugging me, then I remembered….

he so looks like the actor who played Leon on Bladerunner…

    http://www.filmdope.com/Gallery/ActorsJ/8636-1925.gif No, yes, sorta?

Scary thing is 1: I think Leon would do that to an iPhone, and 2: the actor died in 1999…
