A cool trick if you have cycles to waste

Cruising around Reddit today I picked up a cool and of course, USELESS trick that I assume you will want to try for a day and then put back to normal, just like I did.

Check out what you can do with the Activity Monitor’s icon.

Activity Monitor icon

I would assume showing your CPU’s usage in the dock uses up more processing power than it’s worth, but still, it’s a sweet little bit of Eye Candy, and if you’re one of those people who overbought and has cycles to waste on your new MacBook Pro when all you really do is web surf, this is a nice little trick to spruce up your dock and make people think your computer is doing something important.

I set the dock icon to show memory usage, which is pretty useful to me.

nice tip, tho I use iStat Menu’s which lets me put all the info I could ever want into the menubar.

fyi, I have it display CPU, RAm and network, also time+date in a format I prefer

If you’ve got spare processor cycles — and if you’ve got a Mac with a Core 2 Duo or newer processor then you do — go to this site and pick a project to help with:
