Steve Jobs retires as CEO

I sure hope Tim Cook has been practicing his terse, one-line emails, because it looks like Steve won’t be on the receiving end of our FCP Pro X complaints anymore.

Letter from Steve Jobs
CUPERTINO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
Steve

Personally, I would have voted for Woz, if for no other reason than to see just how long Tim Cook can hold that awkward smile he has. So what are the odds this will somehow increase Apple’s stock price? I was just about to sell some to help pay for the Bride of Macenstein’s new Mac Mini Van. Great timing Steve. Way to think of yourself.

It’s sad to see Steve forced to give up his day-to-day management responsibilities because of illness. I think that Apple will be able to maintain his excellent stewardship of the company, but don’t know if Steve’s clarity and vision can be “bottled.” Anyway, as Chairman of the Board, and just because he is who he is, I’m sure he will continue to provide his unique brand of guidance to the company.

“Oh, and one last thing…. I’m retiring.” Steve Jobs
I hope things go well for the man and I hope Apple continues to set the standrards
with a new man at the helm.

Dont look it as sad day but a continuance of a great company under the leadership of SJ’s trainee, Cook. SJ will be Chairman and will continue to influence the company.
