Death can’t stop Steve from being right

Well, the big news today was that Adobe has finally announced that it will no longer be supporting the Flash Mobile platform, instead opting to focus its attention on creating HTML 5 development tools. This news will come as a huge blow to fans of non-iOS devices who have been blindly throwing “lack of Flash support” around as a legitimate excuse for not buying an iPhone/iPad.

There’s no telling how much money Adobe has poured into Flash mobile development over the last few years, but suffice it to say, Steve Jobs tried to save them a few million last April when he published his “Thoughts On Flash“, where he basically told Adobe, and the world, that Flash was a bloated, outdated technology, ill-suited to the mobile web.

Of course, Steve’s words of warning came too late for me who spent $1200 on an “Introduction to Flash” course a few years back. I’ll let you know if Adobe attempts to contact me about some sort of amortized reimbursement plan or something, but in the meantime, I guess I need to start looking into an “Introduction to HTML 5” course.

Of course if Tim Cook wants to crack open that rumored “4 year road map” Steve supposedly left behind outlining Apple’s future and confirm for me that HTML 5 is going to be around next year, I wouldn’t mind.
