DragonVale: How to breed a Pearl Dragon
[EDIT: Looks like the “rare” Pearl Dragon egg seen below is actually the newly updated Pearl Dragon egg, so the original egg might actually turn out to be the “rare” one you can no longer get. Not sure why BackFlip Studios changed it midway through, but it looks like the Pearl Egg with the Pearl in it is the new egg]
PEARL DRAGON:
INCUBATION TIME: 30 Hours
BUY-IT Price: 1,475 GEMS
HOW TO BREED: Snow and Seaweed (Seasonal – can only be bred in the Month of June)
Interesting Fact: The Pearl Dragon is the only dragon I have seen so far that has TWO different types of eggs (scroll down). The hatched Pearl Dragons appear identical, however, so I am not sure the reason behind the difference.

This game is fucked so many people don’t even have the patients to save for epic breeding island and already luckout and get rainbow perarl emerald sun and moon
I bred for the entire month and could not get an emerald and have been trying since it came out on both breeding habitats and haven’t gotten a pearl yet

Yea agree with chris i bred over 30 times for emerald and got nothing and its the same for pearl now. It is a complete waste of time pining for rare dragons.
Maybe you need to move up a couple levels before you can bred them?
Well on first try I got an emerald pearl and sun and moon you gotta look around and see which place you put each dragon when you breed. Keep trying! Sorry its not working out…
I’m a level 30 breeding two sets of level 15 snow and seaweed dragons. Have been at it nonstop for this week and still no luck. Don’t think it has to do with your level. Add me, Shpongle86, I like to see other people’s parks and trade gems!! 🙂
Don’t stress about it.
I just go, and don’t check Dragon Vale until, my dragons are done breeding. I haven’t gotten any of the Gemstone drgaons, but I don’t care. I always have next year. You do too, so just be calm and at least you are somewhere in the game. I am only at level 17, with 2 sun and 1 rainbow. I am lucky, or so I thought, but I don’t stress about it and you shouldn’t either.

Well i had absolutely no luck whatsoever with the emerald dragon but i just bred my second pearl so i think its pretty fair. What wasnt fair was that we got less than half a month to try for the emerald. Well i hope you get lucky! (trying for a third pearl

Wow I just put snow and seaweed in normal breeding cave and got 30 hours on my first this Pearl will go nice with the 4 emerald dragons I have already!
Why bother with duplicates? The island only holds 12, so if you get them all (one for every month) you won’t be able to display the extras.
I have been trying to get the pearl dragon in both cave and island constantly and nothing so far, which is frustrating since I got the emerald dragon on my fourth try!! is there not another combo or is snow and seaweed the only one?

So annoying that I can’t get pearl! There needs to be more combos! I bet that there are more that aren’t discovered yet. If we knew some of those then I could try at both breeding caves instead of waiting for those specific dragons to breed and then do them.

I’m guessing this has a. 1% chance I being hatched. It does give gems after all, and is a rare dragon. The chances with this dragon are exceptionally low, and I have tried many times, but I’m guessing you’ll need to be one of the luckiest people in the world to get this Dragon.

We all waited for something New to appear and here it is. And if those rare Dragons would be easy to breed they wouldnt be rare! And all the High Players would have nothing to so, again.

I agree. Just keep trying. I bread the lichen and crystal for the entire time the emerald was available. I am on Dragonvale every couple of hours. I even spent money to get gems for the breeding island. I didn’t get anything rare. No rainbow. No sun. No moon. Then, on the morning of June 1st, I got the 31 hour timer. It’s was An emerald at the very last minute. Don’t give up. I finally got a rainbow trying for the pearl too. I would actually get bored if it was easy. Love the game. (-:Cooki:-)

Actually I know you may not believe me but I bred all my dragons myself…. I didn’t even jailbreak my iPad until the pearl dragon came out…. Regardless though I have them so I actually don’t care what you think or how you feel…. I hope you enjoy your game and I wish you the best luck in your future dragon breedings….
I actually do believe you. However using the jailbreak hack is sort of like using steroids in major league sports. It sort of casts a cloud of skepticism over your accomplishments and no one can tell for certain what your real scores would be. Can’t get into the hall of fame that way.

Understood and a very fair example by any means… The facts is I know the truth though and that’s all that really matters to me… I put my account out there so if people wanted to see but if you notice there are dragons I am missing too and some as recent as the clover so it is kind of obvious I wasn’t hacked then but none the less I agree with what you are saying about using hacked devices.

It seems as though most people if not all are getting this dragon using the regular breeding cave. The chance of breeding the Pearl dragon might be higher in there than on the epic breeding island. I don’t know, but just an idea.

I CAN’T GET ONE. HELP! I have only got 2 rainbow dragons and I don’t have any other Kwl or rare dragon. It’s dreead. I AM NOT going o waste money in getting gems to spend on the epic breeding island or any dragons. But it seems impossible to breed the pearl dragon and it was the same with the emerald. They should make it more easier. I bet the people that said they got it on their 1st try are just lying. 🙁
What you should do is get friends on the game and get golds on tournaments. That’s how I got my EBI.
Hi guys I don’t if this would help but I was able to get pearl on epic island 3x I’m still hatching the 3rd but everytime I’ve done it so far I used lvl10 snow + lvl10 seaweed on epic island between 11:00pm and 12:00am it has took me a few try’s and a bit of money but I got there! hope this helps

Does it matter if you have the Queen of Pearls? Or the Crystals from the Shimmering Isles? And does whatever you breed a gemstone dragon in have to be the upgraded version, or not?

No it shouldn’t. When I bred my pearl I didn’t have those. I only got them afterwords.
Shows what u kno doc. U can’t buy the pedestals with gems. U can buy dragons but once u buy then with ur gems they go straight to dragons, no option to sell or turn into pedestals. U actually have to breed them.

That is a very immature view of the “free game” ecosystem. How do you think the DragonVale developers make money? Do you have any concept of the amount of time, people, and money it takes to create, and continually update a game like DragonVale? What about the massive server farms they need to maintain so that the game actually works? Do you see ANY ads on the game? Or do you not care?
To consider the game free, and then use a hack to get “free” gems and such to make it easier on yourself (and remember, there is NOTHING in DragonVale you can’t get if you are patient enough, you really ARE stealing from them, the same way if you download music and movies for free you are stealing from the artists and producers who have put their own countless hours into those projects.
I guess if you are one of those people who feels “things on the internet are free!” then there will be no convincing you otherwise, but somehow I feel if it were you or your husband who had created a game that is completely free to play and enjoy, but you’d have to be patient to get everything you want from it, then you would view people hacking it for shortcuts as stealing as well.
Whenever I like a game and spend as much time playing it as I do on DragonVale, I usually throw the developers a bone in the form of $5.00 or so worth of whatever currency it uses, whether I need it or not, just to keep it going and say “thanks”.

People…I got my pearl dragon after ummmm 15 tries using the EBC and EBI. Just don’t sweat about it, keep trying you will eventually get it. I like to change partners as well, just to change the odds and make me feel better. So have multiple level 10 Snow and Seaweed and use em randomly! Have fun! I am a real bitch ahahahahahahahaha….0.o

I started this game about April. Initially pleasurable. But now quite frustrating. everything should not be stress provoking. We have our jobs for that. Absolutely nothing about the game is free. Grateful to the developers indeed but Dnt get it twisted, they are getting PAID! like everything else rich get richer. Going back to TN. My fav game of all times was CW. So rewarding. Rich/poor alike caught a break.

What did you pay for? The game is free. You can earn up to 5 free gems a day in the collesium. If you have friends you can get more gems per day. If you keep breeding dragons you can get ALL of them. For Free.
I have played this game for nearly two years and have only paid twice as a form of donation to the developers ($5 each time). I did not need or get enough crystals fto be useful. I have gotten EASILY MONTHS of playtime out of this title (far more than a couple of hours I’ve gotten from $55 Wii games), and I could have played and gotten to where I am without paying a cent. This game is as free as it gets, but it can only stay that way if people who feel the need to rush things are willing to pay to do so. The artists, programmers, and others on the teams working on this game have no other way to bring in money from DragonVale. Unless you are buying a bunch of DragonVale merchandise…

It’s not untrue. Of course you never know how long it will take but I assure you you can. Saying you can’t get anything web if you’re patient just means that you’re not patient. There are people who breed for two moths just to get what they want, and it’s only been a week for the pearl dragon. Personally I believe if you have enough time to rant about the game then you have enough time to wait or a dragon. The frustration is part of the game, so when you achieve what you’ve been waiting for it feels even more rewarding.
So u r telling me that my mom who started a week b4 emerald was done, had any shot in hell at breeding it when she hadn’t even unlocked the water, lightning or air dragons? Right u must b such the expert on dragonvale or u truly have NO life outside of this game. Just my 2cents

I put a mountian dragon and a storm dragon in a normal breeding cave, mt on left strm on right, as soon as i did, i checked the breeding time, im not shure what it was, but i pressed the finish button and it whanted 48 gems. Can any one tell me what it might be please?
Are they not allowed to be level 10 dragons when breeding them because my lichen and crystal weren’t level 10s and it only took 3 attempts to breed it on the EBI. I have been breeding snow and seaweed dragons for more than once a day for it but I keep getting 6 hour breeding times, but they are both level 10s. Help please? :S
Cassi you should go back to TN! Doc thanks for what you do with running this site! Your a pimp! Keep it up. I also agree with you about throwing the makers a bone every now and again by buying gems. My wife and I both naught enough gems to get the epic breeding island just for that reason.

I figured since all this started because I was trying to help people out I would sit backand laugh at how petty and ch oldish all this has become… People make the decision to cheat if they want to and nothing you can say or do doc will change their mind…. On the other hand, cassi docks correct by saying the game is free if you have patience but I, like you, have children and a life outside of dragonvale and sometimes don’t have time to do other things people on here get to do. With all this being said please grow up, agree to disagree, and move on…. This post is suppose to be about breeding the god forsaken pearl dragon so if you aren’t talking about that then why don’t you try to find another post to do it on. Thanx…..lol
I have no problem at all “agreeing to disagree” with Cassi, as her arguments are asinine. Her thinking is akin to someone saying “I don’t make enough money to afford a nice big LED TV, so I am going to steal one from this big store, because they make tons of money anyway, and how the hell else am I supposed to get it?”.
I suppose if you have never worked in an industry where you create something by pouring hundreds of hours of your time (and your team’s time) into it, it’s easy to justify the theft of something as intangible as “gems” and claim the game simply being unfair.
I really don’t care if anyone cheats, it doesn’t affect me at all, and if looking at an island full of every dragon, decoration and egg is what makes you happy, (even if you got them the easy way by literally stealing $500 from the developers of the game), then that’s fine. But I would also suggest that if that IS what makes you happy, perhaps you do not have as much of a life as you are claiming. DragonVale is an ultimately pointless, time-wasting game in general, yet what makes it addicting is wondering “What dragon will they think up next?” and “When I click on this progress bar, will it be 30 hours, or 8?” and if you don’t care what it says because you can just buy the dragon outright with stolen gems, then I can’t imagine the brain that would find the game interesting.

I am not stopping anyone from cheating. I understand the urge to do it. I understand the frustration that can drive someone to do it. But I cannot understand the position of DEFENDING it as something you have been forced to do so you can “have a life”. If you want to jailbreak and cheat, that’s fine with me. But just don’t tell me DragonVale (and other free games) aren’t free because you don’t like playing by the rules of game. All people, even game developers and artists, need to eat.
