Liechen and Crystal mix doesn’t work. I have tried about 15 times and I still try. Please maybe some working combos 🙂 But thanks anyway.
I just got it with chrome and scorch
I tried to get another ruby dragon with scorch and chrome and I got a rainbow dragon
Yeah i used chrome and scorch and got one, even email him about it. I have a rainbow 2 rubys and a gold now from their combo
I got it with Mud and Chrome on the first try, and it was accidental! XD
Just got my third rainbow dragon. Got it while trying to breed the olympous dragon with blazing and crystal on the ebi.
Im using Blazing and Quake Dragon for Olympus.
Chrome and Scorch Dragon for Rainbow.
And Storm and Forge Dragon for Gold.
If anyone uses these combinations good luck 😛
I tried using crystal n lichen 4 days ago and ended up with a sun dragon. I tried the same combination for a few more times, with different outcome- scoria n lichen
Blazing and mud will also work
July ruby combo works here too. I bred a chrome and scorch in a regular breeding cave (not upgraded to EBC) hoping for a ruby and I ended getting a 48hr breed time. So this combo shud b good for trying to get ruby/rainbow dragons plus the occasional random combos from those four elements. Game Center ID is “dinh-son” add me if u want to look at my BC
I just got a 48 hr egg from mud + willow. I’m hoping rainbow. I have one now that I bred from quake + bluefire. That combo also gave me a moon.
Dr.Maceinstien, do you think that a sun dragon and a water dragon could make a rainbow dragon?
Sun Dragons can’t breed with anything other than other Sun Dragons and Solstice Dragons.

I would make sense because rainbows are made by water prisms and sunlight. Sadly, it doesn’t work on Dragonvale.
Hey Supercat9000! I completely agree with you. The guys/gals at Backflip Studios should allow the breeding of Suns, Moons, etc., with other dragons. Hi Jaquin! Over Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I must have done about 30 dragon matings with only Firework, Cactus. Firefly ,and one Forge Dragon. Finally broke out of my slump about 4:00pm today. I bred a Blue Fire Dragon with a Plasma Dragon and got a 48 hour breeding time — either a Sun Dragon or a Rainbow Dragon — won’t know until about 4:00 pm on Saturday. Earlier today I was thinking about the randomness of the game — it is like standing in line at a ticket giveaway, for every 100 tickets there may be 1 or 2 Rainbow Dragons, 4 or 5 Ruby Dragons, 50 Firework Dragons, and 8 to 10 each of the other possible dragons every time you breed Chrome — Scorch. Good luck over the next few days — hope you get one the prized tickets.
OMG DonK! I finally got a Ruby. The dragons are on my Epic Island. I actually bred a new chrome and scortch, put them in hibernation for 24 hours and then bred them 31 HOURS! So happy! Now the Rainbow is in my cross-hairs. Hopefully I will get my Rainbow soon. I will keep you informed.
Congratulations! Good job. That’s why this game is fun — it has the highs and lows. After breeding 10 + or – Firework Dragons it is exciting to get that special breeding time that you are looking for. Good luck in your pursuit of the Rainbow Dragon.. As you can tell from reading the comments on this page, each person finally found the right combination at the right time for them. Other people have tried those same combos repeatedly without success.
Hey Don! Bred a Panlong and Storm hoping for a Rainbow and got 36 hour breed time. Another Panlong. ERRR! Hoping for that Rainbow soon.
Hey DonK! I got a Gold Dragon. I can’t remember what I bred (such a dummy). I posted the pair on the Gold comments. Maybe I will get that Rainbow soon. Have you gotten the Gold yet? I also have a Malachite. I tried breeding a Rainbow with a Malachite and Panlong with no luck. Some day that Rainbow will grace me. My fingers are crossed. Have you bred any rares lately? I will keep you posted.
OMG DonK! I finally got my Rainbow. I bred Blazing, level 10, and Swamp, level 10, on the Epic Island. This is the first time that I used that combo. I AM SO HAPPY. Hard to contain myself. Now I am trying for a Dodo Dragon. Do you have any combos that worked for you to get a Dodo? SO HAPPY! The Rainbow egg is sitting on the incubation pedestal.
I got my dodo with earth and willow. It took five tries though. P.S. Still working on Rainbow. Got any good combos?
I saw your egg! Beautiful. I’ll have to look for the dragon next time I’m at your site. I have a ruby and a pearl, but moon and rainbow have eluded me. I have the feeling some of these dragons are in a lottery. You have to have the lucky numbers to get them. I’ve tried again for a ruby since it’s my fave color, but no luck. I wasn’t a gamer when the emerald was released.
Could be Sun, Moon, or Rainbow.
I couldn’t get the rainbow dragon at first but then I breed the pan along dragon with the cold dragon and got a rainbow. I then breed the seaweed and snow dragons together and got another rainbow. I have had these two rainbows for about 3 months and now I have about 8-10 rainbows altogether. Thanks for letting me post this.
Hey SC Cool. I am so jealous of your Rainbows. I have been trying for a while with no luck for a Rainbow. I noticed that once you get a rare dragon it seems easy to get them over and over again. Good Job!
Does the crystal and blue fire ever work??? I’ve been trying to breed a ruby and I have tried at least 7 times and no luck! ???? I’m going to give up and try the rainbow now hopefully I will have some luck! ADD ME kingkev12 I send gem for gem!!

Hi Jaquin! I know that you were a little bummed last week about selling a Solstice. Just wanted to mention – since you have 2 Solstice remaining you always breed another using those two. If that was your second Panlong ,now you can breed more Panlongs at any time. My 48 hour breeding time turned inti another Sun Dragon instead of a Rainbow Dragon. Bred Dodo and Plasma and got stuck with a 24 hour Crystal Dragon. Good Luck.

Earlier today I read on a Dragonvale website that with any dragon combination that is capable of producing a Rainbow Dragon that there is only a 1% chance of getting a Rainbow Dragon. I had thought that there was an 8 to 10 percent of getting a Rainbow Dragon. If the 1% chance is correct, it shows how difficult the task is.
grrrr finally got dodo and the only OTHEER dragon i need is rainbow. BRING IT ON DRAGONVALE!:) P.S there is a secret dragon called the Malachite dragon its a green metal dragon. it can be obtained with willow and metal, did it by accident! I NEED RAINBOW!

I’m going to try and put up a bunch of metal habitats and populate them. Wasting too much money trying to raise 50 Plant dragons to level 10, but I’m almost done 🙂
Hey Rick. There is an app called Dragonvale Guide (download through iTunes apps) and they recommend breeding and selling Magnetic Dragons (metal/lightning) and also Iron Dragons (metal/earth)? This gets you Dragoncash in a short amount of time. It takes 4 hours breeding and 4 hours incubation time. That’s $1,150,000 in 8 hours. I would dedicate time and both breeding areas to make that amount of Dragoncash that way. Also, fill your earth habitats with Panlongs. They will give you 75,000 Dragoncash in 60 mins. Oh, add Fire and Water boosts too. You will be on your way to making fast cash. Good Luck.

My ruby came after three attempts with Chrome and Scorch. Other attempts with this combo gave me 2 Brass (I sold one), a Magnetic and a Sun. My first Sun…which really earns Dragon cash big time. The other big cash generator I have is Plant. I took up the game to early for the Emerald, but bred a pearl early on. Haven’t been able to breed another ruby or a Moon despite various combos.

Congratulations on your GoldDragon. It took me 5 days and 568 gems to get a Gold Dragon. I must have got 7 or 8 Forge Dragons (24 hours each) before I got the Gold Dragon. The egg is set to hatch about 9:00pm on Wednesday. Yesterday after doing about 12 consecutive breedings of Current –Flower in the regular cave in an attempt for a Rainbow dragon , I put Chrome –Scorch in the regular cave after both dragons had been in the Fountain of Youth on Monday and got a 48 hour breeding time. Will not know until Thursday whether it will be my 2nd Rainbow Dragon or 2nd Gold Dragon. Obviously whichever outcome it is, I will be very happy.

I was trying to get a gold dragon by breeding chrome (left) and scorch (right) in the regular breeding cave and I thought I got it when the incubation time was 48 hours but it ended up being a rainbow dragon 😐 happy bout it but some what disappointed ..
