Anyone know if the amount of visitors has an impact on chances of breeding rare or gem dragons like the Peridot?
It used to be “easy” for me to get a rare whilst my sis had trouble, but ever since my visitor count dipped under 100, it takes me longer to breed a rare dragon (whilst my sis seems to get it on every other try– she has maintained 150+ visitors by constantly changing her island decorations).
Not sure if the game designers included that into the equation :/
I have never been over 120 visitors, at least not while I have been playing the game, but I have still managed to get all of the available dragons. Sometimes I am able to get more of the rare ones than other times, but I have still been able to get them all. I have 3 peridots on my gem island, and 3 on display on my Egg Island, and another one on the way. I thought that e number of visitors just helped you earn money faster, but you do raise an interesting point about better odds with more visitors. I don’t make too many changes to my islands anymore other than adding the newest dragon egg to my Egg Display Island (now up to 76 different Dragon Eggs). Not really sure if this truly answers your question though. Good luck, keep trying!

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I figured that more visitors would help with earning money faster but knowing that you have at least over 120 wizards visiting sounds like it is helping your odds with the rare breeding… 😉 at least that’s my non-scientific deduction from playing this game.
When I first started, I was either lucky (or had better odds because of higher visitor amount) to get 3 rainbow dragons in succession, compared to a friend who had been playing for several more months ahead of me. His islands were sparsely decorated, though he did have all the decorations money could buy (but mostly one of each). One of the Dragonvale tips said that more decorations = more visitors, so I took it literally… Again, I wonder if others have success with rare breeding because of this (i.e., less than 20 tries)
Anyway, let me stop there. I feel like I’m analyzing this game too much! lol Dragonvale geek. XD
Back to real-life… Ok nvm, back to my dragons! ^_^
Lol.. I forgot to point out that I am USUALLY. Around 65-85 visitors at any given time. The 120 was the max I have ever seen on my game. I have about 150 friends now but even when I only had a handful, I was still in the same ranges.
I got all my rare dragon ( sun, seasonal, Olympus) with 115 visitors or less. But I found that if you use the brick or marble paths it can increase the number of visitors quickly. Good luck.
Hi, I just bred cactus and crystal, in that order and got 31 hr time! That is my first gem dragon!!

I spent the entirety of last month trying for a Ruby dragon with both the Cbe and the Island going non-stop, and I didn’t get one. I’ve done the same thing this month for the Peridot Dragon, and I still haven’t bred one yet. This makes me wonder if there’s something I’m not doing properly, or if I’m just really unlucky -__-
I always get that but somehow I always seem to get it on what would be my last try
I’ve tried about 40 times but still no Peridot! 🙁

Ahh I finally bred one 😀 level 10 crystal and cactus in regular breeding cave. It took me over 30 tries but yay! First gemstone. Good luck everyone!

I can’t get a Peridot dragon no matter what I do. I keep trying, but all that I get are moss dragons and various others. I even tried crystal + cactus instead of cactus + crystal, but I just got a quake dragon. Is there any other breeding recipes for this dragon?

Nope it didn’t work I got the exact same dragons that I got before. I even tried it with another cactus, no result. I’m even using the epic breeding island. I hope I don’t get it on the last day of the month, like how I got my first (and only) Ruby dragon (which is the gem of my birthstone)
I can’t seem to get one what order does it have to be in cactus crystal or crystal cactus?

Haven’t had trouble with gem dragons before now. I filled up my gem island to earn gems while waiting for new ones. Does anyone think that may be hindering my getting the peridot?
Finally got it. Level 9 cactus and level 7 crystal on island.
Finally got one… bred crystal on left and cactus on right in the morning, around 11 am.
My first try it said 6 hours so I used gems but then It said 31 hours! My first gemstone dragon!!!!

Decorating the island to have higher visitors worked for me, i already have my peridot dragon. if anyone has a problem doing so, just try filling your island with lots of decorations to increase the number of visitors. just try it 🙂

Hi, I tried Level 10 Cactus on the left, Level 10 Crystal on the right at 8:30am and got a 6 hour breeding time, so I immediately paid 6 gens to hurry them up and put the L 10 Crystal on the left and the L 10 cactus on the right and got a 31 hour breeding time!! Wish me luck!!

it’s not the tiem or any of that balogna that matters, it’s if you speed up the first failed attempt, it’s rare that you will get a peridot if you don’t speed up the breeding then try again.
After 22 days of continuous breeding, I finally got one. This guy was just so exhausting to get. I swear I got over 10 crystals and everything in between.
Does visit number increase chance of getting peridot?
I don’t think so – I only had 63 visitors when I bred mine
ZOMG. I finally got not one, but 2 Peridot dragons. I didn’t even know I got the first one ’til I began incubating the egg. By that time, I had already been overjoyed as I had just bred the Crystal and Cactus dragons and got 31 hrs. This has been the toughest dragon to breed to-date for me. >_<
Oh, visitor count was around 124, and grew to 133 as I kept the game running. I know it mighn't have anything to do with breeding rares, but just thought of making a note about it.

Not impossible, but fairly improbable. The developers werent kidding when they said it takes quite a bit of patience & luck! The game itself is somewhat clever in keeping you hooked; catering to the collectors in all of us 😉
And you don’t have to spend money if you have good Gamecenter friends who trade gem4gem with you. Best of luck.
Congrats. Quite the accomplishment that. Can I ask at what time did you breed those dragons to get your peridots? I have tried the crystal/cactus method 25 times thus far and have yet to get a single peridot. My thinking is that perhaps there’s a time of the day to focus on like there supposedly is with the sun and moon dragons. This is driving me CRAZY as August is coming to an end and my time to get this dragon is limited so any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I have read breeding hour doesn’t matter (except for Moon and Sun) but I took notice of another commenter here and attempted to breed around 8am (your time zone) and got 31hr breeding time (it’s now incubating and it is indeed a Peridot egg!) However, that’s after I unknowingly bred another Peridot at an unknown hour… The 8am-bred one was done at Breeding Island; the unknown was on Epic breeding cave. Hope that helps!

ok, now that I have your ateention, you wnat a peridot dragon? well, here’s somethign that worked for me first try after relentlessly breeding and failing at it over and over.
You’re ony going to get it through simple cactus and crystal if youre LUCKY. but if you’re impatient and un-lucky, here’s the solution for you (requires some gems)
first: select a cactus and crystal (level 10 atleast, I did cactus right and crystal left) to breed in the EBI or cave (island works best)
second: speed up the breeding (make sure you have room in your hatchery before you try this)
third: re-breed the exact same dragons, exact same spots. You should get a 31 hour time c:

I usually get mine towards the end of the time period that rare dragons are available and I’m starting to think that the # of visitors affects the chances of getting rare dragons if someone could please confirm this.

I’ve been breeding both on updated breeding island and updating breeding cave breeding around the clock since August 1st and not getting anywhere just a bunch of crystals, I tried all the different tricks an tried one more trick by adding more marble paths getting my visitors up to over 130 and I finally got my peridot on my island breeding time showed 25 hrs. I must have bred over 100 times but it was so worth it to finally get my bday month dragon, I think the amount of visitors helped for anyone else have trouble
