I FINALLY got the garnet dragon!!! I’ve been trying all month and even redownloaded the game. Still I had no luck, but finally yesterday I got 2 in a row! I’m not a patient person so waiting this long was killing me. Patience is a virtue with this dragon. Keep trying… You’ll get it

It’s safe! If you need re-assurance check out the Dragonvale FAQ under options in the game. http://www.backflipstudios.com/help/faq/ Scroll down the page until you see the question: “Will I lose my game data/park or start back at Level 1 if I uninstall Deagonvale from my device?” It explains that the data is associated with your Game Center nickname. As long as your nickname doesn’t change, your park is safe!! Good luck!!

After doing what I have told you, within 5 try’s you should get the garnet… If not then you have really bad luck with breeding dragons >.< sorry
If anyone has anymore questions bout the garnet, ask away…
And yes, the update was to fix the problem with the bug with the garnet dragon so make sure you update you dragonvale app 😉 happy breeding everyone!

Man, I’ve been trying non-stop for a week now on my EBI , switching from new smoke and obsidian and still don’t have it. I always been lucky breeding dragons but this one is so freaking hard to get

I got one using level 15 smoke and obsidian. When I use level 10 dragons I can only get lava or obsidian.

I had been trying all month with Smoke and Obsidian and no luck at all, then I just decided to put Obsidian first and Smoke on the right and I got it! Good luck guys! 🙂

Getting so bored with this game. Tried reinstall, level 15s, hatchlings, etc and still no Garnet after 20+ tries. If it’s impossible to get then BF may be losing a loyal player. If I don’t get it by the end of the month then goodbye DV.
I have read the comments advising to log out of game centre and reinstall to try and get this dragon, mine is logged in to facebook, cant find anywhere saying game centre. sorry if its a stupid question but is it the same thing, will it work if i log out of facebook and reinstall without losing the game?
Jena, Game Center is used with the iOS (apple) devices. I’m sorry, but I know nothing about the downloads via Facebook.
Bred this combo – Smoke & Obsidian -on both upgraded breeding island and upgraded breeding cave at least 100 times with no success. First time I’d ever had problems getting a gem dragon, usually I get 2-4 each month. Finally uninstalled the app from my device (I DID NOT delete the Gamecenter link when the box popped up) then I reinstalled the app fresh from the App Store, and voila! I got one on the second try!! I highly recommend a fresh install to anyone having trouble with this dragon, even if they have updated the current version of their app. Hope this helps and happy breeding!

Which platform? I did the reinstall as you describe on iOS and it still won’t give me a garnet. They really need to fix this problem or they’re going to have a lot of unhappy customers.
ugh i reinstalled it TWICE and still after like 10 times of reinstalling the second time, i still don’t have it. i updated it, used a different pair of smoke and obsidian, even put in a different order and after 134987193274 times i stilll don’t have it…so frustrated. anyway, a friend i have hasn’t been sending back gems so i have an extra slot; gamecenter: snakhal4

I’d love to know of any other combination as well. I have been breeding nothing but level 15 smoke and obsidian dragons on both my breeding island and breeding cave. I’m a level 40. I have had zero luck. This is my birth month and I really don’t want to miss out on this one. Anyone with suggestions??

Seems like I’m in the same situation as everybody else & it’s very frustrating! Been trying since the beginning of Jan & still out of luck 🙁 Why did they make it so hard to get this one? What’s the diff from the previous gem dragons? Really losing my patience, helllooo backflip I still have other dragons I want to breed! *sigh*
Seriously what does Backflip hope to gain by making this dragon so impossible to breed? Do they think we’re going to spend $$$ to buy it outright? On the contrary they’re more likely to lose customers like me who are getting fed up with the constant disappointment.

Ok I use my kindle so I don’t have a gamecenter so I’m starting on my iPod…. I need friends badly on dvale.. RandomRainbows17 that’s me… I don’t have any yet on my iPod but hopefully someone will see this bottom comment… Oh I’m gem for gem person I think I’m on alllllllllllllll… the time so if I have gems to give I always give them I’m lvl 19 almost 20 and I’m not like lvl 40 or something like that because I started around Christmas. but on my kindle I have kairos and a rainbow dragon a blue moon so I play a ton!!!!! please add me and this garnet dragon looks super hard to get.. good luck whomever is trying to get this dragon and congrats to gets it I’m gonna try to get on my kindle but I have got lava a obsisdian to much lol BAI!!!!! 😀
I got my garnets throughout both breeding cave and island, using level15 dragons at around 10pm and 11pm if that helps. I have been trying for whole month and got my first one one night ago at 11pm and thought if the tine makes a difference. Tried it again tonight and got a second one. Try it and see if it works for you.
Got another one tonight at 11pm.
Tried 4 breedings between 10 and 11 last night – none worked. Your success evidently does not transfer to others.
So done with this game. Pity because I used to really enjoy it. Backflip has taken that joy away in 2013.
Grrrrr. I too have not been able to get this dragon. Not to mention that they added the glacier and the hail dragon….. I still haven’t been able to get a seasonal dragon or the platinum dragon….. Poo poo…..
I just keep trying. Last month I got the gem dragon no problem, but this month with a average breeding time of like 8 hours it is taking fooooorrrrrreeeeevvvvvveeeeerrrrr….. Lol

Hi I have. Question if anyone can tell me …..am I able to have friends on android dragonvale park from my iPad dragonvale park ? Or visa versa ? I want to know if I have 2 parks if I am able to gift myself on two different devices ? Who better to give gems to but to my loyal self lol
I am level 28. I have tried to breed garnet 21 times and also uninstalled/reinstalled. I’ve tried more times for rainbow and can’t get that either.I was only able to breed 3 limited dragons and I was very diligent in starting a new combo the minute the old one finished. It’s frustrating, and that’s putting it mildly.
