what does time have to with anything? is there really certain times to try for dragons? how come i never knew this??
This guy’s just an idiot who, because he got his zombie dragon at that time, thinks there’s some significance to the time. There isn’t. Like all other dragons, it’s a matter of using the right combo and luck.

Respectfully you are wrong. The in game Dragonvale breeding guide clearly states Suns must be bred during the day, Moons at night (I’ve got many of each). Time DOES matter 🙂

can u help me I´m relative new to dragonvale , i would like to have more friends but i dont have the gem tree that all talk about and I still have onl 13 gems , can you teach some tips?
A tree only allows you to gift more gems to friends… What you really want is to breed gemstone dragons and put them in the gemstone island… Also, type some of these peoples game center id into your game center add friends area and hopefully they will add you for gem gifting
I am so mad that it lets you give extra gifts… I seriously though it would grow gems for you to keep… So I saved up all of my gems and bought it and was super disappointed… But I do have a very successful Island if I do say so myself… I have 3 rainbow dragon and an apocalypse dragon! Plus a blue moon and a leap year!

I would like to know why when you breed two of the same dragons – you now no longer get that dragon again. It seems that the owners of this app really want you to spend money.
I noticed that too. Out of the blue they change something fundamental like that. It makes no sense.
I agree this change sucks and I would not doubt that it has everything to do with money. A few months back Backflip the owners of Dragonvale sold a majority of their stocks to Hasbro the toy giant. Now we see updates like this where breeding the same dragons will not give a match and the dragon shrines become worthless. I also suspect this non-matching egg result has to do with trying to get people to use gems to get their worthless tips in the game instead of coming to sites like this. As it is when I first starting playing only a very few dragons took a long time to hatch and the rainbow dragon was the hardest to get. Now we have dragons that take 96 hours after breeding and hatching, hope they realize many of us also have a life and getting greedy never works out well.
I always farmed the rust dragons when I wasn’t working on a new one. Good, fast money earner. That capability is gone now. Two rusts haven’t produced one since the last upgrade. It’s a shame.
I feel your pain Linda. I just got a crystal out of two quake dragons. If this wasn’t so rediculous I’d laugh. So much for showing kids how two like dragons create the same. Lol good grief. I’m sure many others out there now wish they would have filled up sun, moon, rainbow, and treasure habitats before this mess.

I feel the same way. I’ve already seen how Hasbro runs game apps like this and it isn’t good. In their monopoly app you can only achieve the first 3 pages of challenges before it gets absolutely ridiculous to even try anymore. Dragonvale has amassed the players they have because they made it so people could reach all goals without having to pay money. they also made it a little easier to get gems and they keep adding new things like the races, etal. This in turn made many more people join to play and many other people went ahead and made a few in app purchases.
My concern with the Hasbro takeover is this…If Backflip starts conducting business in a greedy “Hasbro” fashion and they make challenges unattainable by the player who cannot afford in app purchases I foresee a lot of people who will stop playing. Thus far the most ridiculous change has to be the non matching outcome after breeding two like dragons…. For a dragon BREEDIng game no less? lol I guess we’ll see how influential Hasbro will be on Backflip. Not being able to ever get the dragons we are trying for isn’t a good start…little too reminiscent of the sucky game app Monopoly.
Perhaps if everyone marks the latest update 1* only, Backflip may listen to its customers.

Have you gotten the egg yet? Copper is bred from metal & lightning with a 20 hr incubation time.
I used that combination and it worked first try! 😀 Now I just have to wait for it to hatch…. Zzz…

Anyways i got a zombie dragon my first try with a Pollen/Meteor combo both lvl 20 (you can see my zombie on my island). i believe this is the only combo that will work so just be patient.

Upgrading either one will reduce the breeding time by 20%. The breeding island gives you better odds at the more rare dragons so your more likely to want it quicker on that one. Plus it changes the island and its quite pretty.
I totally agree. Personally I don’t like the look of the upgraded breeding cave as it doesn’t look natural like the regular one. One thought…you might want to have 4 nests before you upgrade breeding dens since the hatching time isn’t sped up. Otherwise you’ll speed up breeding only to have to wait anyway for an empty nest.

I got a zombie dragon and now I am breeding that with an ouroboros dragon with a 50/50 chance that I will get another zombie dragon. It suppose to work, but the breeding hours don’t look right. It says it has a 6:24 hours as its breeding time in the enhanced breeding cave. That can’t be correct, right?

I couldn’t wait and used up a lot of gems and what I got so far are willow, pollen, and I think chrome (am not going to waste anymore gems to confirm). So what I have confirmed in regards to breeding an apocalypse dragon with a zombie dragon is that you will not get either one but instead a hybrid dragon. I hate these new breeding rules. I guess I will have to go back to breeding pollen with meteor before the offer ends, which I assume will be sometime around halloween.
Yes noticed the same…. A site had ouroborus with apocalypse as a 50/50 Zombie or Ouroborus result… after 8 tries and getting neither, I have given up on that combo attempt. This new breeding laws has made the rare dragons even more rare as any other dragon with unrelated elements seems to also have some chance of being breed???
The rules now apparently make it so there’s a chance to breed the apocalypse dragons AND the elements that would be used to make each parent. So if you bred two frostfire dragons, there’s a chance you could get blue fire, cold, fire, or frost fire. It’s lame yeah but theoretically you could get another limited dragon from having just one of them.

Thanks for the gem Bonnie! However, I’m still not able to send you 1 :(. The game won’t let me click on the “free gift” button for the 1 you sent me. You’re showing up on my Game Center friend’s list, but still not on DragonVale even though you sent me a gem. I don’t know what to do to fix this.
You show up on my Game Center list but not my dragonvale! I am able to accept your gems, but I can’t send them back. Maybe try deleting me and re adding me? I don’t know what’s going on 🙁
The exact same thing has been happening to me with just 1 friend…the rest are fine. I resent a friend request to this person with an explanation & she appeared on my dragonvale list so I could send her gems. Worked well for a few days & then she disappeared again only to reappear the next day! Strange! Since it’s only this 1 friend (added last only recently), maybe it has something to do with the timing of the add? Like after an update or something? It’s very frustrating & I feel bad when I can’t send her a gem.
I just tried breeding a ghost and a meteor dragon and got 15 and 1/2 hours, not on the upgraded island. what is it???

Soo I’ve got 2 Zombie dragons and when I tried to breed them together to get a 3rd, I got a Pepper Dragon! In the past, Id do this so I could easily get a third dragon to display the egg! Is this happening to anyone else?!

Been trying for ages and still haven’t gotten this dragon,. Some of the other dragons (such as Jade) took even longer though so I’m not worried.
Need 5 people to trade gems with – I’m level 45 on Dragonvale, and I’m pretty proud of my island (I didn’t spend a single cent). Recently I haven’t been on Dragonvale that often, but I’ll gift you at least a couple of times a week.
Please make sure you are a regular player. (And if you have a nice park, that’s an added bonus!!!)
