The 1st Egg is the DragonVale Rift Dragon Egg
What do you mean by magic? I have 3 rift eggs gifted to me from leveling up my light side with magic. How do you hatch them, when I click on collect I get a rift pedestal. I don’t want that, I want the darn dragon! Am I just not seeing something? Can anyone help me please?

You get a rift dragon for each egg you earned by throwing light magic into the Light portal.

So once you have done that how do u hatch it instead of putting it on a pediestal?

Hate to give you the bad news but you cannot hatch any egg once it’s placed on a pedestal. Usually you have this choice when hatching a egg you bred to either hatch it, sell it, or display it on a pedestal. Not so with this challenge. One of the ” rewards” earned in the challenge was a rift egg already placed on a pedestal. Even though you did not make this choice to display it you cannot change it once it is on a pedestal. People who collect the eggs on pedestals for display loved this but for those who really needed the dragon instead it was a Great disappointment.
I read somewhere else in here where someone accidentally put their only rift egg on a pedestal. Bless their hearts. I feel really bad for them because the above applies to them too. I’ve said for a long time we need an undo button but I know that will never happen. Hope that helps and sorry it probably wasn’t what you wanted to hear.

I had this same problem. What you want to do is uninstall, and then reinstall the application on your device. It will reinstall with the updated version, and you will be able to view the portals and light/ dark sides.

With the update came a new island and two portals (light and dark). Everyone that updated got this island. You obtain magic by doing normal things such as harvesting gold, etc. You place that magic in one of the portals and earn rift eggs, bigger habitats, etc. Once enough of the community donated to the light portal, light magic “returned” making light dragons and their habitats available. If you donated enough before this magic returned you were rewarded with a pedestal, a rift dragon, and even habitats depending on how much you donated. These rewards can be collected from the social tab. That should hopefully clarify everything. My gamertag is Daviday….please gem me if you found this helpful! š Cheers!

Which sections are the portals and the island in because I can’t find it but it says light dragons are now available but I can’t find them

Sorry, You missed the light challenge. No more magic can be collected for that side. But you can buy a light egg and a light habitat in the market. then you can breed it with plant, fire and earth dragons for more hybrid light dragons. The dark challenge is still going on and you have time to try to collect enough magic by breeding, hatching, playing races, visiting friends parks, decorating your park with cheap bushes etc, to try to get a dark egg. Read through these threads and you’ll get more tips.
Please also know you can only give one gem per day for up to 6 people if you also have the gifting tree…only 3 gems for friends without the tree and you don’t have to offer gems just to get friendly advice. But it is good to add friends so you can collect gems each day from them and they get gems from you…these are free gems that do not come from your personal gems or your friends..but they can only be gifted to be used. You cannot keep the free gems offered by the game each day. Hope that helps! Take care and good luck!

The light side is the begining rift. In the begining of this update, you get a choice between light and dark, you have to choose light to get the light rift, or dark for dark rift.
You were also able to get bothrift dragons btw, just like I did. š But that was last month and it is over now.

I’m talking about the (Topaz dragon) i try to breed cactus and firefly I just don’t get it. I keep on getting a flower dragon and poison and I sell them i just have 25 gems so I can’t even by them.I give up I’m trying to get the blue fire and ouroboros but how do you get the blue fire.

hey, just keep on trying. level up or change the names of those dragons. I got lucky once. Then I tried breeding amber from the cave, I got lucky twice in a row. I got two Amber. It wasn’t easy. Try and try.
got frost fire with poison and cold. might work for blue fire
It’s odd, but if you can breed a frost fire with a combination. You cant breed the blue fire. I don’t know why they have this but it’s true.

I understand your frustration, this is the first time ever that I missed getting a gem dragon since they started that part of the game. We can thank the new breeding shenanigans of Backflip thinking that it is crazy for a breeding game to give accurate results for the frustration. since greedy Hasbro is now controlling Backflip Studios I have concluded bitterly that whatever premium dragons I have now will probably be what I will have for a looong time. So do you still cant visit my park? So am i… We got hit by a supertyphoon and electricity is out for days… But its ok now… Ive notice that the dark is almost done ehh.. Cant wait to see new dragons and to finally finish my yinyang island.. And i still cant open/visit my friends.but i guess thats the prize of having those gems…
So the so called “glimpse” may last long? Thats really sad.. Lets just hope that they fix this before people who use to love this game stop playing or lose interest in the game…and release the other combinations for light…lol

In terms of the anger with the rule changes I was namely speaking for good friends who put real cash into this crazy game only to get royally ripped off by these changes. I feel bad for ever telling them to download it now. Then again they went way overboard spending real money for a digital game. In that instance Backflip did all other players a huge service to realize these apps are just a game and since they offer them “free” never EVER put your real money into them because as we can see they will think nothing of changing all the rules (after the fact ) and they think nothing about the players who helped them get there. No joke, one of my friends shelled out at least $300 in one month for this stupid game to level up her dragons to gold. I would never pay that kind of ,obey for anything I didn’t own that was not a tangible asset. Nonetheless she did and they screwed her over royally for it.
Hopefully this will be a lesson learned for all players. Forget in app purchases and forget loyalty towards these games because it isn’t a two way street.
I managed to go ahead and level up the dark side where it at least holds 5 dragons and two eggs so I’m satisfied with where my game is now but I won’t lose sleep over any of the future gimmicks the new Hasbro Controlled Backflips throws out! Lol

Yes $300 real dollars in cash for just one month. They paid several hundred more After that too! Thanks for the offer but They’re so pissed off with paying for premium gold dragons to see them steal half their profits and the new breeding rules changes that they quit playing. It’s a shame too because they will never get their money back and they never bought a real product with that money to have anything to show for it.
Thanks for the offer for me too but frankly I’m just not that invested in this game any more. They keep taking things away, twisting the rules and stacking the odds against players and its all for greed. If they don’t snap out of it at Hasbro the only players they are going to get will be newbies who have no idea what they’re walking into with this download. Let me put it this way…I’m no longer telling everyone I know how fun this game is or to download it. Just the opposite. On the bright side I have more time to be productive in my life! Lol

I am level 45 and with profits cut, by buying food, I cannot get enough money for the eighth island and now all my things are squashed! I would desperately love to know how to get some help with gems to try to get gems. I have wonderful friends that gift me and I am saving, saving, but on top of everything else they now BLOCK you from gifting people you used to gift everyday!

What if you didn’t get a rift egg from the light habitat? Me and my friend had no idea what the light and dark things were so we both decided that one of us would only give magic to the light side and the other would give to the dark. I gave all my magic to the dark and barely any to the light. I didn’t get an egg from the light side so do I not get a rift dragon?
You can buy it with gems, but you won’t get the limited edition habitat.

So far it looks like all the new dragons for the light side can be bred with the light rift dragon which cost a lot of gems if you didn’t earn it in the challenge OR the light dragon that you can buy for 2 million in the market. Hope that makes you feel better. This is why I kept telling people to go for both sides because I figured they’d pull a stunt like this in which they’d try to get a lot of gems or push people into making in app purchases to get these new dragons. Feeling betrayed? Many people are because they took them for their word when they told them to pick a side. Turns out this was nothing but a major marketing scam with the odds on the side of the company. Ie: they said collect magic then they cut profits way down from many of the dragons that max out money fast in habitats to earn magic faster. the word shyster comes to mind. Sigh
I upgraded both of my sides twice. I got lucky looking at a website that said you couldn’t get the rewards once the tines of scar filled up.

I updated both side too. This is why I kept telling people not to pick a side and do both because this whole game was created around nonstop stresses of getting all theses dragons before time runs out. They knew everyone would want both. when you think about it you see it’s really quite a set up to tell people to pick a “side” knowing it would cost them a lot if they didn’t at least get a rift egg for both Sides.
Just know I’ve managed to get all the new light hybrid dragons with just the light dragon that can be bought in the market too. I also have the light rift dragon but I wanted to point that out to people who may be freaking out about not getting the light rift egg.
The main advantage of the light rift is this dragon collects a lot more cash. The main advantage of leveling up the light habitat (that was built into the challenge) was it collects twice the amount of cash as the one you can buy in the market and it doesn’t count against your habitat total. I’m sure you know those things now, I’m just explaining this to people coming in late to the challenge so they don’t break the bank trying to pay outrageous loads of cash for the light rift egg in the market. They can still buy the light egg for only 2 million and get a light habitat and upgrade it to get the light hybrid dragons. So all is not lost but the light rift dragon.
Acctually, you can also get all the light hybrids without any light dragons at all. If you have a Dark Rift Dragon, you could use that. I got the Ember and the other Fire-light dragon by breading fire with Dark Rift.

I saw this too. Also wanted to note that the hybrid dragons from the light or dark side can be placed in existing habitats. IE: if your new light or dark hybrid dragon has a plant element you can place that new dragon in the plant habitat. This is also true for the light and dark habitats whereas a dark rift dragon can be placed in a light habitat.
doc, I breed 2 rift dragons, and got 40 hours in the upgraded breeding cave. then when it was done, it was a rift egg which hatched in 30 seconds… cost me 39 gems to find out… this happen to anyone else?
Hi, I just bred my two rift dragons and got a 48 hour breeding time. I was wondering what it would be…I guess just another rift dragon?? Based on your experience (I don’t have an upgraded cave/island). I’m not gonna waste 48 gems to find out but I’m bummed about it taking up SO much time in my breeding island just to get third rift. I was hoping it would give me the Light Dragon. Does anyone have that one? I thought we would get it if we had two eggs in our habitat but I got two Rift Dragons and no Light Dragon…so I guess I have to buy it for 2million coins?? The answer is yes… You can get a rift dragon using 2 rift…but it took me a lot of tries… Check the hachery in my park…
I managed to get a rift by breeding two rift dragons in the EBC. Yes, once they finish breeding the egg hatches very quickly!

I was thinking they’d have to offer some choice for people who start playing after this challenge is over. Also noticed they make you use another island for the light habitat when they finally let it hatch in the regular egg hatchery…so what’s the new island they have the tines of the scar and light/ dark habitats on going to be used for after the challenge? Maybe this island will keep offering magic and tabulating it for new players? Maybe everyone who is stressing out about missing out will still be able to do it? They have to offer a choice to new players right?
Yes..just checked again. The rift egg is in the market for 3,650 gems. As if the average player has that many gems? Lol I know I don’t. . Anyway.,.try to get the dark egg. Get at least one. Now I wonder if this will matter for breeding for players who only get one rift egg in the challenge? I guess we’ll find out. So far all the rift eggs for light are exactly the same. And the light egg is now in the market for 2 million. At first I thought the rift egg was the light egg. Lol
Not sure they care. I started less than a year ago and I will never have the apocalypse dragon and I will need to wait 3 more years for the leap dragon. Will never have the paper dragon. People that have been with dv since concept, will always have all dragons, decorations etc . As well they should.

Last year around New Years week they made all dragons available again. I picked up several I didn’t get before. Don’t know if they will do it again. Either way if they did it would be very hard with these stupid new breeding rules. I quit playing for about 5 months and it didn’t really hurt my game. If they never offer the dragons again its only a game right? But since all these new dragons are based upon these new elemental light,dark, and rift dragons I cannot see them making it impossible to get unless they want more people to never start playing. I guess we’ll see what they do. Had faith in Backflip have zero faith in Hasbro.

I’m guessing but I don’t think the light and dark rift dragons will be the same. I hope the dark dragon turns out to be far more memorable then the wimpy anorexic looking light dragon did. They could have done so much more to make the light dragon live up to the expectation of these new dragons but didn’t. I expected to see some large angelic looking dragon that had wings that shimmered in gold and white with a whispy look like the smoke dragon and treasure gold dragon combined. Instead we get what looks like the understudy of a dragon that isn’t finished yet. Oh well.. It’s just a game…I keep telling myself this after wasting precious time on it. Lol
Yea, I’m not bothering with the last level on dark. Not worth the time and stress. Lol already got burnt on the white challenge. Lesson learned.
I want another shot at the reward habitats. They collect double the cash! I started late so I only got 1 light rift dragon. I have 2 dark rift dragons and I want the giant reward habitat. I’m hoping I’ll be able to breed it with the dark rift dragon or I do better next time however often they do this.

Thanks for pointing out the double cash from the larger habitat earned in the game. I checked that and you are correct. It’s at least a consolation for those of us who went without sleep only to still fall short of the goal. Missing the last level. But in terms of going through it again? I’m not interested…I would think they would offer it again for new players. When you look at how little these dragons earn they aren’t really offering a great reward. Because of the low pay out it was very hard for me to select a habitat to sacrifice to creat an additional light habitat. Losing a lot of dragon cash from other premium dragons like panlong was an additional sneaky assault that came with this update…so yea…double cash for one habitat that took a truckload of hours playing, precious gems, and millions in dragon cash to earn doesn’t come close to the sacrifices made to attain it.
I understand feeling like you missed out but please retread what I wrote and realize you now have inside info we didn’t have when we thought this challenge was the end- all be-all challenge. It wasn’t..it was just a great marketing scam.
Me, too. I only got one rift egg, from my gifts tab, and it just became a pedestal. My light side is done, can’t put any more magic into it.

Got a rift dragon last night, which I am now breeding with a cotton dragon. The incubation time is 24hours, so I reckon (okay I hope) it’ll give me one of the new dragons – watch this space.
Huge disappointment. 3 same rift dragons and a new set of dragons for which you need additional habitats apart from the one you receive as a reward. No point in achieving the 14000 level what so ever. Additional purchased light habitats are included in the overall number of habitats, so players who have already reached the max number of habitats have to sacrfice some existing ones to get the space for new habitats. Unless the magic island is released as an island for these new dragons and number of max habitats is even more increased, this was nothing more than an excellent marketing trick. Btw, breeding 2 rift dragons keep getting the light dragon for now.

I agree…its very disappointing seeing the SAME rift dragons after so much pain in filling up the 14000 bar.. I just dont know if the rift in the dark habitat would look the same (hope not)… Btw you can get rift egg with 2 rift dragon… Took me many tries…
You can empty your breeding habitats into the hibernation cave, then stow the habitats in the tower. It’s a game that makes you think!

From what I can tell the only advantage of knocking yourself out to get the 14,000 magic bar filled is to get an additional egg to give you 3 eggs. But as noted they re all the same rift eggs. I think the dark rift will be different then the light rift dragons. I got very close on the 14,000 mark for the light challenge and lost all that magic. Augh what a waste of time. Everyone just needs to make sure they get one rift egg for each side because they want 3600 gems for it in the market. I also read here somewhere something about these habitats not counting against our total. I think that’s true of habitats we level up. But if you get 3 rift eggs for a giant light habitat that only holds 5 you’re left with only two openings for at least 7 new light dragons. I had to empty and store habitats to make room for all these new dragons because my habitat level was maxed out.
I want to know what they plan to do with the new island they added that originally held the light and dark habitats and the vortex thing called The Tines of the Scar?
I’m disappointed because I thought this would be the island we could store new light and dark dragons on as well as get to decorate.

Oh wow Chad, I didn’t even think of that possibility. If we can’t use it they might as well as take it. My magic collection was working fine…but then I couldn’t get into my game at all for hours last night. Augh. Kept getting an error message and then when i got in today i see one friend missing from my friends list. For the missing friend We do not exchange gems…but I like visiting his park and I do exchange gems with others i already friended and I was late because I couldn’t even get in my Game. Augh.

Anyway, in spite of not being able to get into my game for hours I have managed to hatch 7 new dragons,counting the two I earned in the light challenge.. build an extra habitat after storing another one and have a few more in the hatchery. still don’t have the heat dragon and I want it after Seeing it in your park.lol very cool looking dragon. But I used more gems…augh. Patience …tsk, tsk. Lol

Hey guys I have just put a rift dragon to breed with a fire dragon in the breeding cave and the incubation time shows 4 minutes??? I wonder what dragon I might get! If anybody has any idea please reply to me! Also, I have the dragonvale breeding guide which is just showing that you get all the light hybrids by breeding the elements with a light dragon, which Idon’t have since I am only on level 17. So, in short, could somebody please tell me what the hell is going on because I am totally freaking out!!!

Who knows what you’ll get because they ruined the breeding results in this game with this last update. You are no longer guaranteed the same dragon after breeding two like dragons, and any element involved in the two dragons you breed can be the result you get. It sucks, it’s a time waster, and I hope they change it back. I would look and see what other dragon only take 4 minutes for your answer. I already got a seaweed out of breeding a light dragon and a sand dragon trying to get a glass dragon. Augh
Also at lev 17 are they not offering the light dragon in the market to buy for 2 million gold? If so use the races to level up faster and earn gens. Hope that helps.

Guys if you go onto the help tab and look at any rift help (try the rewards one) you’ll see what the dragons look like. Light is already Out and looks like its shown, so I’m assuming the dark will look like it is shown as well, except for changes in coloring. But the overall shape of the dragon is accurate

Good suggestion. I saw this too. It looks like the dark rift dragon is going to be the same except for opposite colors. Almost like a negative of a photograph. The graphic they shared was very basic so we’ll see.

Wondering if anyone can solve this mystery. I bred two Rift Dragons (Light) Lvl 9 (Lucifer) and Lvl 6 (Eve) in the Epic Breeding Sanctuary (upgraded Island) and have got a breeding time of around 39-40 hours. What could it be?

Since light dragons are combined with plant, earth and fire /for now/, it seems that dark dragon will be combined with cold, air and water.

From what I’ve seen so far, the only way to get the other rift dragon would be to buy it. Of course, backflip makes it almost impossible without paying up $$$, but there hasn’t been much experimenting done simply because the dark rift dragon isn’t out. If I were you I’d just keep my fingers crossed and hope that backflip allows both rift dragons to be hatched from one rift (dark or light) and a regular dark or light.
You’d need to put magic into the light side until you receive the light reward habitat and if you have already gotten the dark reward you will receive the dark rift dragon

This is Not good news folks..It appears as if the new sucky breeding rules are here to stay. I just Read an email on wiki from dragonvales creator who claimed that the result of getting the same kind of dragon when you breed two dragons of that same kind was a so-called “Bug” or-glitch that they needed to fix for over a year. He then said they were concerned about fixing this glitch due to public backlash. Well hello.. Isn’t it common sense to expect to get the same species when breeding the same species in a BREEDING game? Do poodle breeders expect to get a Great Dane? Good grief. This explanation defies common sense and it insults our intelligence. The only Glitch here is they weren’t satisfied with the massive cash flow they were already getting from impatient players. I have two friends whom I know personally spent several hundred dollars a few months in a row each on THIs game. Getting greedy is what loses the same people who helped to build a company.
He then goes into great detail explaining about how bad it was that players ( read players who used good strategies) who continued to breed premium dragons like rainbow and panlong took out the ” challenge” of the game with the ample supply of dragon cash they accumulated with this strategy. Translation…those strategic players took hopeful profits away from them. Those players were doing what any smart gamer would do if they were trying to advance in a game that asks for a truckload of dragon cash for new islands and upgrades.
He then continued to explain that these new screwed up breeding rules would advance the game and make it go forward . Forward for WHO? Not the loyal players who made this company so attractive for a buyout from a giant toy supplier like Hasbro. He talked about opening doors to breed sun dragons with Olympics. Big deal… If the outcome is a dragon we’ve already seen, and worse a dragon we already have ten of they just wasted more of our time and lives.
Lastly he asked for suggestions on how to make this transition easier. AKA .tell him how to get all these justifiably angry dragonvale players to accept these unacceptable changes. The wiki crowd was brown nosing all over the place not calling them on these backhanded deceitful business practices of changing all the rules AFTER loyal players have stuck with them for two years.
Personally I loved figuring out what I was going to get Before hatching. i loved the research and I really enjoyed coming to sites like this for real insights and real breeding tips to be successful. These changes appear to not only make the game far harder, less enjoyable for players..but they also take a stab at trying to end tips coming from great sites like this that no doubt have sent a ton of new players their way. I really feel horrible for all the players like my friends who put hardcore cash into this game just to see they are now being punished because they dared to be strategic garners who used those cash bought gems to make premium dragon islands as their reward. At this point I would rather pay a one time fee with NO in app purchases even offered to just own a game verses going through the bait and switch head games they are pulling on us now.
Ok..that’s it…what are your thoughts on this explanation from Backflip and these new permanent breeding rules?

Yes if you see an egg in the dark habitat you will be getting a dark rift egg. You have the opportunity to collect up to 3 rift eggs if you can keep collecting all magic required for each level. However the last level is 14,000 to get the third egg and when you realize you only have two breeding caves you understand a third rift egg really isn’t essential when you could just breed the two you already earned to get another later on.

What i think happened is that if you have been giving the light magic since the beginning, you obviously get the light side upgraded more than the dark side. So, if you’ve gotten 2 rift eggs on the light side, and were almost finished before Dragonvale gave you the egg, Dragonvale may have hatched the two eggs you already had on the light side, plus given you more as a gift. Hence, getting more light rift dragons than opposed to someone giving their magic to the dark side. For me, I was always giving my magic to the dark side since the beginning, so i had no light rift eggs on the light side, so Dragonvale gave me 1 rift egg to hatch and 1 to display, as gifts. Did anyone else that was giving their magic to the dark side ONLY get only 1 rift egg to hatch and 1 to display? i thought that would be the most logical explanation. But now i can only give my magic to the dark side, since the light shrine thing disappeared. So would i get more dark rift dragons than light since i was giving my magic to the dark first?; one as a gift to display and one as a gift to hatch? Confusing a little….
I put magic into dark until almost the end, then I realised that the light bar on the Tines of the Scar was getting close to full so I hurriedly put enough magic in my light habitat to upgrade it once. Now I have the light rift dragon, but so far I have no use for it. Bought light dragons and habitats from the market and I can breed them, but all my light rift dragon does is slowly earn money. Hoping that the dark rift dragons will be more interesting.

How do I hatch them? Or does this not come until later?

You can still buy the light dragon in the market for 2 million and you can get a light habitat in the habitats section if you are not maxed out on habitats. The light rift egg is also available but it cost a LOT of gems…approx 3600. So far it looks like all the new light hybrid dragons can be bred with the light dragon or the light rift dragon. If that’s the case you may just need to buy a light dragon egg and get the habitat. If your habitats are maxed out you can store your dragons and a habitat currently in use and the market will then show you can build a new one. The dark challenge is almost over…see the massive vortex like thing on the new magic island called The Tines of the Scar. The dark side is almost full…when it reaches the top all dark eggs will be found in the gift section where you collect gifts and they will immediately begin hatching in the normal egg hatchery. It’s coming. So you won’t have to wait much longer.
Try to update your dark side as much as possible because that habitat earned in this challenge holds more cash and it doesn’t count against your habitat total.
It sucks that they told people to pick a side when everyone should have been working on both sides to at least get an egg and try to hold at least 3 dragons to make it worth their while. Good luck! Hope that helps!

My dragonvale is very laggy, always has been a tad, like when you breed it will take a few moment to kick on freeze for a split second then – I assume – choosing the dragon and time it will then take to breed.
Since the update it has been a lot worse, collection money symbols don’t go away when you’ve collected and the breeding time on my breeding island never decided or the loading bar doesn’t come on like it would before after initially freezing, and I have to come off the game and go back in for it to have sorted itself out.
All that aside, that’s not the issue.. The issue is when I filled up my first bar of the dark rift thing, it changed onto the second and nothing happened, I didn’t think anything would.
So I come off it go back in and I have a notification telling me I’ve been given a rift dragon egg for my efforts – fantastic, I don’t really want to pay that amount of gems to buy one anyway.. But where is it? No where to be seen, haven’t a clue where it would be, I don’t have an rewards or I can’t find them, so I’m pretty annoyed.
Anyone had the same issue and/or can help?

If you don’t see an egg in the new dark habitat then you may have gotten the dark egg on a pedestal. Keep trying to at least get one dark drift egg because you will either miss out or she’ll out a lot of gems. Hope that helps! Lol
I know what you mean about the game taking longer and more glitches. This game takes longer then any other I have ever played to load. Sometimes it’s so bad I just leave it to keep loading while I go do something else. Augh lol
farming is a good way to get magic thankfuly dark dragons should come out faster because everyone will be giving magic to that instead of splitting it between dark and light

it looks like I missed the whole light rift dragon as a poored all my magic into the dark side š the only way to get the light rift dragon is to save like 3000 gems (very unlikely) not be able to breed this dragon will truly be a pain in the arse as it be the only dragon missing from my collection š NAUGHTY BACKFLIP

I agree it was an underhanded thing for them to tell people to pick one side knowing this game makes players want to collect them all. Just know a couple of people have gotten the light rift dragon by breeding two double rainbow dragons. This may become harder once the dark side finishes but not impossible. What really makes breeding harder is the stupid breeding rules change whereas x dragon breed with x dragon doesn’t give x. But this is how a light rift is possible from two double rainbows. Maybe other premium dragons will do the same? I imagine they’d have to offer another way for new comers to get this rift dragonafter the challenge ends. The main thing they won’t get is the free habitats. they may offer all dragons once again for a short period like they did around New Years last year.
If its any consolation you can get all the new hybrid light dragons by breeding them with the light dragon that is available in the market for 2 million. Meaning you don’t have to have the light rift dragon to get the new dragons for the light side. Just breed them with basic plant, earth and fire.
Thanx for the heads up on the double rainbow combo I will deffently be testing this out. As It seem that all the new light dragons have been breed on first attempts. IF the double rainbow does work out I’ll deffently post results and attempt numbers, wish me luck. Bring on the dark side š

I know a few people this combo worked for. Ie 2 double rainbows to get a light rift. A few breeding sites also reveal i t has worked for others too and they posted those results..but in a very low percentage rate of only 14%. I share that additional information because it IS possible but I don’t want to see anyone blow though much needed gems trying to make it work with such a low success rate. As noted above I Also suspect this will be much harder to do after they finally release the dark rift dragon. Again, good luck and don’t blow through all your gems if it looks like it will take a lot of tries! Please do post again if it works for you. Thanks!

Looks like this event is just about over. Hopefully everyone got way they wanted out of it. But just a thought, if light and dark dragons turn out to also be possible combinations for rainbow and double rainbow, and if Rift dragons can come from breeding just basic light and dark dragons, with the new breeding system, shouldn’t there be a chance to get rift dragons from rainbowXrainbow combinations? Of course, only if these conditions apply. But then, shouldn’t there also be even more epic dragons to come now, thanks to 2 new basic types being added to the game?

I agree, there will have to be a way for new players to get these new dragons. This has to do with the new breeding rules I’m sure. Nonetheless, they (the app owners) do not want players to have a definite breeding combo and I think that has to do with trying to extort real money from more players. I say it just this way because they have been extremely vague about this whole challenge which has left many players to make drastic decisions such as a lot of inappropriate purchases. To them it’s about profits and to players it was about just trying to get the next Dagon…not realizing how they we’re being manipulated along the way. IE: just today I got a notice for a new JET dragon. There is an offer to buy It for 150 gems and they show 1500 gems as the original price crossed out. meaning buy it now for 150 or pay 1500 later. I don’t have that many gems and I’m not laying down real cash for shady operations like this.
There is no information anywhere online about this new all black jET dragon. The dark challenge is also not over either so we have no idea if the jet dragon is connected.
My point is this…it’s all about creating needless anxiety and stress by leaving people in the dark. There is no better way to keep players in this panic state then to make sure they are never guaranteed an exact breeding result from using the same combo that worked for other players. This way they can change the odds in their favor to award and reward only players who pay to play verses those who use skills and strategy.
New players need to be told the odds are greatly against them for moving along quickly in this game “now” due to all of the shady moves as noted above. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again This is exactly how Hasbro operates with their other app games. They offer Very little enjoyment for the public whie they hope there will be a lot of profit for them. I quit playing their Monopoly app because it became absolutely obvious in trying to reach another challenges I would need months to waste or uSe REAL cash for inapp purchases and a lot of it. Forget it. If a FAKE digital game wants to charge you real money that will end up costing more then a real tangible board game that you can hold and OWN and play for years…it is not worth it.
Anyway, it’s clear that there will be several more dragons to breed once the dark rift dragon is finally released. Yes other players have already attained the light rift dragon “after missing it” in the light challenge by breeding two double rainbows. What’s not clear is if this breeding combo will continue to work or what they will do with all new players who come late into the game after both challenges are complete.
I suggest everyone proceed with a level head and realize this is just a digital app. There is no tangible property owned by anyone when they use real money for in app purchases on a game that is digital. The developers have made it clear they will think nothing of changing all the rules “after” you pay real money as well so please keep that in perspective.
BTW for all these new players offering 30 gems for help just know the game is not designed this way…meaning you cannot pay other players with more then one gem per person per day and this is possible only if they have been added to your friends list in the game center. Keep coming here for info and you’ll see a good community willing to help you…no need to bribe and offer what you cannot give, just ask š
PS: sorry for such a lengthy response… Trying to get new players to keep this game in perspective and realize it isn’t the end of the world if they missed participating in these light and dark challenges. Lol
I’m relatively new to this game, and I have been lurking here reading posts and trying to get hints while spending far too many hours playing the game trying to collect magic and elusive dragons.
I missed the light dragon and was far more upset about it than I should have been.
You make some very good points in this post.
At the end of the day it is a game, and there is nothing tangible or permanent about it.
I haven’t spent any real money yet, and reading your words here helps me to remember why it’s a good idea not to.
Instead I’ll enjoy the game for what it is – a game.

Glad I could help. You’re the demographic the lengthy prose was written for. Indeed, it’s just a game that offers no real property for real cash purchases. Keeping that in perspective will help a lot of people. Won’t help Backflips bottom line but they are the ones who continue to give less and expect more. That rarely works out well for a company that wants to stay in business.
I think Jet just takes over for the Amber – meaning the “double gem dragon” that lasts 3 months while the regular 1 month gem dragons are going on. Just odd timing that it happened at the end of the Dark Magic challenge and he happens to be black.

I’m assuming the timing has to do with the event ending being dragged out so long. People rushing to get some magic in before it’s too late, some might buy magic just to hurry up. And when they see a sale on a gemstone dragon, having already spent money on magic, what’s a few more bucks for a rare new CHEAP gemstone? Marketing at its finest. Anyway, hopefully they end this event soon. The Tines are already full anyway. But I have a feeling more events like this one will are to come.
