I got my Dream on 1st try with Glare & Nightshade both level 12. I’m lucky to get a limited dragon before time expires much less actually getting something that rare on the 1st go at it.
Also, I love your site and love that you are here whenever I get stuck with a tricky breeding. Only problem I’ve been having is the friend request/add me messages are seriously overwhelming the actual breeding advise again. I remember this was a problem before and then it was ok for a bit. Any chance you can go back to the way you handled those when the “friend code” event was going on and it was bogging down the breeding pages? There’s plenty of areas online for people to post those requests. I won’t stop visiting your site if not, but it sure would be easier if that could be controlled again.

Forgive me for using up so much space. I pretty much did exactly what I was complaining about by using this space for non-breeding advise.
DREAM DRAGON= AWESOMENESS
I tried breeding a Meadow Dragon (level 17) with a Cave Dragon ( level 17) a number of times without sucess. Then I raised both dragons to Level 18 and tried breeding them again. On the first attempt with both dragons at Level 18 I got my first Dream Dragon.
Tried glare /nightshade dozens of times. No luck cotton/mirage either! I will try some of your suggestions. Oh and daughters gamecenter account P.J.T .OWL has two openings for gem swap for regular players,but 3 tries no give backs and I unfriendly as she is still little.
Unfortunately I can’t get this dragon with these combos :(( doesn’t work for me for hundred times and 500 wasted gems :((

Same here, I’ve been trying with no luck since its inception. Glare and Nightshade, both level 20, and my game is at Level 55!
After all that time, just tried Love and Dark Rift and whammo! 39 gems to incubate, I think it’s a dream:)

i got the dream dragn in level 21 but i did not have the habitat so i sold it for good money never knew it was so imp
I have been trying for Dream in both breeding habitats with all combos above with dragons level 17 or above WITH NO LUCK!! Help! What should I be doing????
I’ve been using glare ans watch (after trying glare and nightshade too many times to count). Also, glare and watch has one less non-target bringing them to 10. That being said, I’m using EBI with Watch at level 16 and Glare at 19 (and a half), and still not even close. ????????
Tried a dozen times with a few combinations and no luck. Then I tried watch and hypnotic and got it on the first try!
Got it with glare and nightshade in EBI after feeding both dragons to level 14. It took me 14 tries. As a bonus during those tries I bred 3 phantom dragons. 🙂
Light rift with watch, and glare with dark rift both only have six different combinations. No luck with any other combination. Trying these two, before time runs out.
No worries, this one is not limited. I thought it was too but guess I overlooked it. So, take your time and I would work on the limited one’s first then go back to this one. Sometimes a small break in breeding works for me. Good luck 🙂
Got it with Love Lv 20 + lightrift Lv 15……….also got it with Hypnotic Lv 16 and watch lv 16…Hope this helps someone..Please post your levels with your combinations….It helps me a lot too..
Got mine ironicly for “dream” dragon with watch/hypnotic. You are getting sleepy lol. Both level 15 and about 6 tries

Hey, I’m not sure if this is the place to say it, but has anybody had any problems with breeding two rare dragons together? Every time I try to breed to rare dragons (ie double rainbow+ Celtic or lunar eclipse and solar eclipse) I get very common dragons such as tree or rain….why is this?
That is not unusual, infact that is how it usually is now when you breed 2 rare dragons. Quite a while ago, Backflip, changed it so you no longer have the 50/50 chance when breeding 2 different dragons. And you no longer have the 100% chance when breeding 2 of the same rare dragons. I don’t think I ever heard why it was changed but I have my guesses. Anyway keep trying and hopefully, eventually you will get something you are waiting for.

I’ve been trying all combinations for more than a month with noooooo luck. It seems like breeding these dragons is getting harder and harder all the time. I never did get the Kite dragon. This fame us getting drepressing. None of my friends are playing it any more so gems don’t come easy.
I agree – I have spent actual money on this game in the past, and it is now frustrating to watch limited dragons pass me by month after month (after being level 55 and having most of my dragons level 15 and above) and not be able to get much at all this year. my friends hav also stopped – so I only have one person giving gems once in a while, and therefore cannot even by any dragons, and refuse to spend another $ on this game when that is the only way I can get dragons. Defeats the whole purpose of playing. I wouldn’t mind paying a little bit here and there, but not when I’ve tried the recommended dragons month after month to no avail.
Got the Dream first try with Meadow level 10 and Watch level 14. I need one more person who is a daily reliable gem trader, I have three per day to share – add MermaidJewels, skylanderjonas and minecraftjaden if you want 3 daily gems. I only want someone who will truly and consistently trade or I will remove you from my lists. Thanks and hope you get the Dream!

Even leveling up to 17 and 18!
I have had a fair bit of luck with Glass 17 and Promethium 17, have three in one game, four in another. hope this helps. It has taken a whie t get these though, so patience is required.
Still NO Dream Dragon…..this is rediculus. It seems like it’s getting harder and harder with every new Dragon to get the new ones. I’m using level 20 Glare & Level 20 Nightshadow. I never got the Kite Dragon & am so unable to egg the Hydra Dragon. If I don’t get one of the new Dragons soon I’m going to stop playing Dragonvale. All of my friends have already stopped because because of crashing, loading problems plus inability to get Dragons. I had to buy the last Dragon but NO more.
I used to play dragonvale, like, in 2012, and I wanted to play again. All my gamecenter friends stoped playing, so no gem trading for me! I used to get gc friends in mceinstein, but I recently found out people are annoyed by that. What is a website where I can get new people to gem trade with?

Like previous posts I used Glare/Nightshade over and over and OVER. I switched breeding Cave-Island every 8-10 times. I had one Dream but wanted another and a Dream egg. I read the posts and using Hypnotic/Watch, (thank you Daniella, Lee, MyRD and Courtney) I got Dream within 5 breedings. I still wanted an egg so I bred Dream/Dream and Hypnotic/Watch. Dream/Dream, first time, I got Dream. YEAH!
Thanks Dr. Mac, I use your info all the time. I did notice that the gem request posts on the ‘How to Breed’ pages, have diminished which is great. Thanks everyone for posting your successful breedings. I was about to give up. Now on to getting a Hydra egg. Thankfully with the recent return of Victory, I have all the dragons except Dusk. This is taking too freakin long.. I’ve been tryin glare and nightshade for two weeks now, and then meadow and watch AND I AM STILL NOT GETTING IT.

I have tried hundreds….no exaggeration to get this dragon with your tips! Can not describe my exaggeration! Most of the dragons are 15 and above. Really has mad this unenjoyable for me. I have the patience of a Saint but have reached my limit! Also, I find it unfair for things like the “Magick” Special and now “FireFly” special especially impossible for kids to get anywhere! Stop it! As for the people who continue to ask for gem swap partners…..any way to censor them? No brain, no pain.
This person doesn’t own the game, dont complain to them about your issues with the game. Macenstein is simply being a kind soul who is creating a for the most party very accurate breeding guide for all of the Dragon vale players who are having some trouble getting certain dragons. If you want to complain, send a review to the actual game app, or better yet send it to their FAQ or Email support available in app. This is also a semi social place for people wanting to get and give gems so they have speed up their breeding, get the breeding tree, or save up to get dragons that are just really impossible for them to breed no matter how hard they try.
So the weirdest thing happened. Last night I did a retry for the dream dragon in the cave. Got 8 hours or 6 hours definitely not 50. I whole up this morning, sent it to the nursery and the egg was a dream dragon. I don’t know if this is a glitch or if the secret is to breed this dragon while you are sleeping. I used glare and nightshade multiple times and this was the result.

On upgraded Epic breeding. Tried GLARE AND NIGHTSHADE/MEADOW AND WATCH… several time with no luck… grr. Got it on FIRST try with Hypnotic and Watch combo!
I was trying all of the combos listed at both breeding habitats and had no luck for weeks! Finally tried with love and dark rift, both level 15, after reading the comments here and got it on the 3rd try with those. Super excited, now I can finally start working on the rest of the new ones. I need geode, suffer, wisp, leaf and hydra and then I’ll have them all!

Breeding a Glare and nightshade just got a 1day 14hour and some timer. Hopeing it’s the dream. Could anyone verify? I’m using the epic breeding sanctuary.

Been trying since this dragon came out nonstop and still no dream dragon… This is the most annoying dragon i have ever tried to breed its worse than double rainbow. I have also tried every single combination listed on this page including comments… nothing is working.
