AMD CEO: Apple will eventually use AMD processors

In a recent speech at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, Advanced Micro Devices’ CEO Hector Ruiz says Apple Computer Inc. will eventually buy its processors as an alternative to Intel brand chips.
In his speech, Ruiz pointed out it would be a relatively simple matter for Apple to adopt its line of processors now that they have successfully made the transition from IBM’s PowerPC architecture to x86.
“Knowing Apple, why would they want to be held hostage like everyone else has been?” said Ruiz.
The statements fall far short of an official announcement, and no evidence is given of any future partnership between Apple and AMD.
