George Lucas discusses online content distribution with Steve Jobs

George Lucas has apparently decided to make a gradual exit from the film business and instead is looking to focus on creating television and downloadable “on-demand� programming.
According to Daily Variety, Lucas feels that the movie business is too financially risky, and feels the future of the entertainment industry will be online.
“For that same $200 million [that is costs to make a traditional film], I can make 50-60 two-hour movies. That’s 120 hours as opposed to two hours. In the future market, that’s where it’s going to land, because it’s going to be all pay-per-view and downloadable.
“You’ve got to really have a brand. You’ve got to have a site that has enough material on it to attract people.”
Lucas also mentions he has met with both Steve Jobs and John Lasseter and discussed the future of visual media. Lucas’ Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Vol.1 and 2 are already available on the iTunes store. Perhaps this is a sign of things to come?
(I guess there’s no hard feelings over that whole “iPod thing“.)
I think the laughable “Darth Vader invented the iPod” lawsuit was a desperate cry of frustration from Lucas for giving away Pixar to Steve for next to nothing..
By the way, any guesses on what Vader’s playlists looked like???
…..people, you have to dig a little deeper…..Lucas never filed a lawsuit. If you follow the link that was given (iPod thing), you will see that it originally came from a website where it was listed under the heading ‘HUMOR’.
