Lionsgate Movies Now on iTunes
Apple seems to be slowly but surely chipping away at the movie industry’s resistance to the unstoppable juggernaut that is the iTunes store. Today Apple announced that Lionsgate has joined the iTunes family, and will making about 150 of its back-titles (ie. no new releases) available on iTunes this month. This is similar to Paramount’s deal which (for the moment) also eschews new releases. But I think we all know it is only a matter of time before we see such Lionsgate classics as “Open Water 2: Adrift” on iTunes.
From Apple:
Lionsgate and Apple® today announced that movies from Lionsgate will be available for purchase and download on the iTunes Store starting today. iTunes customers will be able to purchase blockbuster Lionsgate films like “Terminator 2, “LA Story, “Basic Instinct, “The Blair Witch Project and “Dirty Dancing and more than 150 titles coming to iTunes this month.
